More good news...rumor is still out there that Texas will pick up their first 2013 commit in the next day or two. Smells like Raulerson.
For some of you that may not be overly pumped about Raulerson, you should be. If you don't believe me look at his list of offers before the 2012 class even wraps up.

It's almost certainly Raulerson, but how cool would it be if it were Marcell Harris with Raulerson committing shortly after? Talk about a blast of momentum into JR days.

His senior year he had a 47.5 pass completion percentage and a 13TD/9INT ratio.
I'd slow your roll, he hasn't even taken a college snap yet.

I know for a fact the Texas coaches loved Matt Davis and were all over him before he got injured. In most years they would have stayed on him, but after the Gilbert debacle they could not take the chance he would not recover fully or would lose out on developing further after such a serious injury. It was simple risk aversion - for Texas fans saying Davis is not a take or worth an offer you are kidding yourselves.
At the Opening he and TJ looked amazing together. TJ is playmaker too. Keep in mind the Opening was 7 on 7, and TJ did struggle quite a bit more in UA practices and game when in press coverage. I originally thought he would step right in as a freshman, but think he may need a good year before he can handle the coverage and the physical play - especially now in the SEC West.
That said, the concern for the ags will not be offense with current players and offensive recruits coming in. The lack of playmakers on D and in particular big uglies on the D-Line should be a major concern. I think A&M make a huge mistake not taking coach with defensive background b/c I just don't see you guys ever getting those players.

That's exactly my point.
Whether it's a good or bad high school career, the fact remains he hasn't played a college game. It's laughable to say he is better than any QB on UT's roster. Maybe you just forgot the word "potential" or something along those lines because I do agree that he has the potential to be very good.

Rivals top 5 surprises of the day. Davis at #2. Normally you'd think that could qualify for #1, but the #1 is obvious after reading - dude switched to Houston over Notre Dame. Head scratcher to say the least.

2. Davis switches
It is almost impossible for any school to get a top player away from LSU (http://lsu.rivals.com/) and out of Louisiana. Alabama (http://alabama.rivals.com/) received a commitment from five-star Landon Collins (http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=102551) last month and the Tigers took another huge hit when the state's No. 3 prospect, outside linebacker Torshiro Davis (http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=121419), made a last-minute switch to Texas (http://texas.rivals.com/). Davis was one of the earliest commits for the Tigers in the class and, as late as Tuesday night, seemed 100-percent solid to LSU. He ended up holding a late morning press conference, though, where he announced his intentions to be a Longhorn. The switch meant LSU was shut out on the top three prospects in the state of Louisiana.

LOL...I was thinking the same thing chronic. But I think those packages are the obvious. This offense is going to have more options to use than Harsin knows what to do with. With that, our defense, IMO will be more explosive too with them not having to stay on the field. Quick question though...
This is my first couple months on spurstalk. Will there be a link in this thread to get us over to the 2013 recruiting thread? I have already stopped looking at 2012. Ready for junior days!!

Interesting side story on Winston and FSU. Between baseball and Stanford the Noles fans can't be feeling too good about this one. Think the delay may have to do with seeing if he will be accepted into Stanford.
Dude looked pretty damn impressive in UA game.
http://espn.go.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/36112/jameis-winston-holding-out-on-signature
Jameis Winston holding out on signature
Quarterback Jameis Winston (http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/107569/jameis-winston), rated No. 1 at his position in the country and the No. 14 player overall in the ESPNU 150, is teasing Florida State fans. He says he's a Nole. He repeated he's a Nole. But he might not sign until Friday. Or maybe next Wednesday. And Stanford? Well, that's intriguing, and so is the possibility of playing baseball.
Decisions, decisions.
"I just really want to get home and talk to my folks," Winston said in his interview on ESPNU. He is in Texas today for an all-star game.
Winston also said, "I'm a Nole, man, I'm a Nole."
Unfortunately for FSU, there won't be a fax today confirming it.

She said she was blown away impressed and they made it very easy for them to decide to come to Texas. She said she couldn't believe how easy it was to visit with Mack like he was someone she had known forever. Touring the house with him and having him just talk about their lives(him and his wife) and the things they did day to day made them feel more like good friends over for dinner instead of someone there on a recruiting visit. As I mentioned before, Diaz was very engaged with Dalton and told him that there would be competition but he was "his guy." Also Mack pulling the family card with her younger son Wyatt made them feel special too(though I don't care for the family loyalty approach).

Per Hook 'Em 24/7, 2013 TE Durham Smythe of Belton has been invited to the first Junior Day and will attend. Mack mentioned in his press conference yesterday that they would be focusing on TEs in the 2013 class. Stanford is known for their TE play and they're trying hard to get Smythe on their campus right now, so that tells you what kind of talent he is. I've linked his highlights again for a reminder:

It was pretty obvious to me watching the Mack Brown National Signing Day Presser, that the staff loves Dalton Santos. Mack was kind of giddy watching Santos' highlight reel. On one play Santos jacked up the opposing QB and Mack ran it back and said that hit got lots praise from the team.

His only drawback is that his intensity can go over the top from time to time. He was thrown out of the Lindale game for multiple personal foul penalties…one where he taunted the Lindale sideline and another where he got upset and hit a player in the facemask during a dead ball. My brother in law was on the sidelines when Van was coming out of the tunnel and said Santos was cursing at the adults that were Lindale fans…and my brother in law is not the kid of guy that would lie about something like that.
All of this is probably just typical immaturity, but its certainly something to watch. Hopefully he comes in focuses this intensity soley in the direction of football.

Per Rivals.com, Marcell harris has officially received an offer from Texas. It might be a technicality, as I believe Raulerson, Swoopes already has an offer, but Harris is the first officially.

Meet Howell's replacement. Nice to have this young man waiting in the wings, getting better and not on scholarship.

The UIL put out there new district realignments today. See where your high school falls. The biggest difference I can see so far is Lake Travis moving up to 15-5A.

Man, Steele in 28-5A. Looks like an easy run to district title.
Judson opens up preseason against Lake Travis and Steele. Might be the first time we start the year 0-2 in MANY years. Scary.

Miles certainly has a screw loose. A head coach needs to project stability.

Wow this is crap. Bullard wins in the post season for the first time in school history and they get rewarded by getting stuck in the district with Gilmer, Henderson, Chapel Hill and newly 3A bound Kilgore.
Hating ass UIL.

Yep. The same way Judson did while they were in that district. I went to CC King, and ever since the other CC schools dropped down to 4A we have been getting crushed. I would much prefer to be with valley schools, but it appears that the UIL is intent on keeping us with SA schools where we habitually get raped.

Back when I was in school CC was in with Victoria, Alice and Kingsville, all 5A. Of course that was back before Victoria got real dumb and meshed Victoria High and Stroman. I think they have sucked ass ever since then. One or two great players every few years was a dumb reason to do what they did. lol Memorial High :lol

Yep, I remember that 27-5A district. It's exactly what I thought of when I saw Steele's district.

they deconsolidated a couple of years ago, and now have two 4a schools (victoria east and west).
if i remember correctly, vhs' old coach came back to coach victoria east and theyve been pretty dominate. last i heard they went to regionals in the playoffs before being knocked out by lake travis (who won it all).
edit: that was in 2010, in 2011 their record was 7-5.
