24 more minutes, bring it home Spurs!
Spurs on pace to score 110, OKC on pace to score 88. The nice part is that they finished the quarter strong after all, and outscored the Thunder in both of the first two quarters.
OKC is going to have to be VERY physical, AND get the benefit of some whistles to have any chance at this game.

Spurs answered the run. They have to be ready for the next one.
Solid first half outside of losing guys a few times on defense and not securing the boards better.
Keep up the intensity, ball movement, and attack mode, do a better job on the boards and Spurs will be up 2-0.

not true spurs would be up by at least 18 right now it's just that not getting those boards early on is what killed us. Still though I do agree it would be tough to blow out OKC but we had the chance to do it today but I'll take a 11 point lead heading into the 3rd any game.

It's hard tbh. Durant and Harden were ballin and we seem to not like getting the ball on the rebounding.
It feels like the Spurs should be up more but the Thunder got 10 offensive boards so it makes sense they left 6-8 points out there.
OKC has 10 offensive boards, but they only lead 21-20 in total rebounds. Some of those offensive boards they earned, but some were just horrible bounces. And if I remember right, most of them came with Timmy on the bench.
Personally, I'm excited that the Thunder are shooting 55.6% from the 3P line, but 36% overall from the field. They're shooting 25% on their 2P attempts.

Barkley: The Thunder can't have more than one big out there, because one will have to cover a 3 point shooter and that'll open up the lane for Parker.
I almost agree, except that having just one big would open up the lane even more.
Honestly, the only strategy I can see the Thunder trying is zone D. It didn't work the one time I saw them do it tonight (actually it failed miserably, due to a late closeout on a 3 pt shooter), but I don't see a better alternative.

Deja Vu from rounds 1 and 2:
Re: Oklahoma City Thunder vs San Antonio Spurs
by Yilun on Tue May 29, 2012 9:08 pm
This is quickly turning into a clinic.
What astounds me is the ease with which Spurs are scoring. Crisp, clean, precise passing and easy, open buckets compared to OKC, who are pounding the ball, dribble dribble dribbe then a long jumpshot -> brick. The more OKC tries to play 1-on-1 basketball, the more Spurs pass and play team-ball.
The gap in talent is pretty apparent now. I'm sorry, but I don't think it's OKC's time yet this year. They need to take a good look at the way SA plays and learn something from their efficiency and unselfishness. At this point, OKC needs to start thinking about how to prevent themselves from getting swept by the Spurs.
Honestly, this board amazes me. We have a team that has 19 wins in a row going into this game, has just played their hearts out, is up 11 points at the half, and posters in here are pissed that the lead is not more?
Get over yourselves!
Kidd K
05-29-2012, 09:21 PM
I like the lack of turnovers we have, and the fact that OKC thinks Fisher is going to go 6-6 to start the game again as if that shit wasn't a fluke in game 1. Their terrible decisions on offense are why they're shooting 36%.
I'm happy with out lead. . .but we're giving up way too many offensive boards to expect to be up this much later. I think either someone needs to hit Splitter in the back of the head and tell him to fuckin rebound, or we need to put Blair in there instead of either him or Bonner.
Bonner: 0 rebounds
Splitter: 0 rebounds
Duncan is like our only frickin rebounder right now, with 8 first half boards. Diaw has 4 too, and he's mostly been playing WITH Duncan.

looked clean to me. Even if there might have been body contact, the ref that called the foul couldn't have seen it from his angle. Westbrook had a clean block from up top. Ref might have reacted to the tp fall and called the foul as they sometimes do.

This is why I said I was glad Fish went off last game in a loss for them. He would keep shooting, and he did. He hit one shot and that opened the flood gates for him, but he's no idiot and will dish the ball. Westbrook is embarassed. He's going to go all Kobe. I want to see the Thunder players arguing amongst themselves, doubting their coaches, see them driven before us, hear the lamentations of their women.

We're not pissed so much as concerned -- concerned that we're playing so well in the first place, yet the score doesn't reflect that. It concerns us because it could be indicative of how narrow the disparity is in talent between the two teams, and how very different things could be in future games in this series.

I get your point, but the point that everyone has bringing up on offensive rebounds is valid. I think everyone would be happy with any margin of victory in a win but they see something that is exploitable and is keeping OKC in the game.

I'm in a hotel room in Denver, I screamed when Duncan facialed Ibaka. I got a call from downstairs "everything ok?" I told them I was watching the game.
i've once had a visit from the cops for noise complaints during spurs games lmao i think it was 2005 finals
:lmao
I screamed too. People downstairs are probably used to it, and hell, their kids make enough damn noise! :lol

Honestly, this board amazes me. We have a team that has 19 wins in a row going into this game, has just played their hearts out, is up 11 points at the half, and posters in here are pissed that the lead is not more?
Get over yourselves!
The winning streak will do that to you. We've become a spoiled bunch.

Usually I'd agree, but in this case I don't think so - it's a reflection of the fact that the Thunder are very dangerous, that we've allowed 10 O boards and should be leading by 20.
Kidd K
05-29-2012, 09:25 PM
Guys, the 21-20 rebounding thing is extremely deceptive. You should not think we're not rebounding poorly just because it's close. We're shooting 57% and they're shooting 36%. By law of averages, there's less defensive rebounds to be had when we shoot, and more when they shoot. The NBA averages grabbing about 3 of every 4 defensive boards. . . so we should only be not getting 1 rebound for every 4 bricks by OKC. OKC's bricked 30 times and gotten 10 boards, so they have 3 more than they should have right now. Meanwhile, we only have 3 offensive boards in our 16 bricks, which is 1 less than we should have.
So when you use law of averages and math that way, that's basically equal to 4 turnovers due to the our bad rebounding. Not a good thing.
We should have a lot more boards considering. The rebounding should be 24 to 17 in our favor if we just were average in rebounding considering how each team shot from the floor.

No one here is right to bitch if spurs play and get beaten by a superior team
But the aspects of the game that okc is using tostay in this game are aspects that are easily fixed if the spurs just okay their normal game.
There's the reason why we are mad even with the win streak

That's drive is why I wanted Diaw. I thought its main use would be against Gasol though. Adding a Landry(who did well last year against Gasol) like aspect to the team.
Diaw is just faster than he looks. He blows past people without looking like he should be able to.
