Spurs getting all kinds of help now from the refs living at the freebie line.
You deserve the most delusional poster of the year award. You think personal take fouls on bad FT shooters = ref help, and that 1 call means they're getting "all kinds of ref help" when OKC has gotten the last 10 calls.

If OKC can't beat us with 10mins in the penalty and ticky-tack reffing, I'm pretty confident we'll take the series.

This one could go seven.
Spurs on pace to score 110, OKC on pace to score 88. The nice part is that they finished the quarter strong after all, and outscored the Thunder in both of the first two quarters.
OKC is going to have to be VERY physical, AND get the benefit of some whistles to have any chance at this game.
I didn't expect them to get THAT many whistles. Damn.

Kidd K
05-29-2012, 10:46 PM
Ref assist mode is on. Thunder even got FTAs on 3 of those 4 fouls too. Watch them have at least 12 FTAs in their quarter. Possibly 15-18. And OKC's best FT shooters are going to be shooting almost all of them too. Watch.
We're gonna have to shoot well over 50% to win even with this lead. Refs will make sure OKC scores.
Just wanted to say told you guys. Said Thunder would get at least 12 FTAs to assist them back into the game. . .
And they got 13 FTAs. It's obvious when refs are helping a team. You can even predict the number of FTAs they will be gifted based on the first couple minutes of the quarter.
The Thunder's ball sacks weren't even being pulled down by gravity in the 4th because the refs were running down the court carrying their balls for them.

He was good in the first quarter and I thought he'd found his mojo again, but he missed 4 or 5 wide-open 3s in the 4th and his D was largely ineffective, so I guess not.
I was very glad when Boris came back in with 4 to go.

Spurs need to adjust, how do they play when OKC switches on the pnr?
plus how is the rotation gonna be affected by HAS?
And three EVERYONE on the team needs to hit their motherfucking free throws! But you're right.

What a honor to see such a great basketball game.
Tony just said Hack-A-Splitter disrupted their rhythm. I was right.
He only said that because they played poorly after the tactic. They could have just as easily hit their shots or executed like usual, and then people would be saying there was no rhythm disruption.

Bonner is a HUGE liability. He can't play a single minute on the road
YES. Unfortunately we just have to hope he figures things out. Even though Blair matches up well with the Thunder, it would ruin the chemistry if Blair was inserted into Bonner's spot. Might as well play Kawhi or Jack as the back-up 4.

GREAT win. No complaints. The Spurs lost their rhythm and it's really tough to get that rhythm back. Especially in the playoffs against a great team. The Spurs could have easily folded and lost that game ... and then maybe the series.
Great, great win. Playoff wins aren't supposed to be easy ... and that's even more true against a team that probably will end up winning a handful of championships down the line.

Can Pop at least consider giving Blair 6 of Boner's minutes, is that really too much to ask for a guy who has proven to put up points against this team?
He was good in the first quarter and I thought he'd found his mojo again, but he missed 4 or 5 wide-open 3s in the 4th and his D was largely ineffective, so I guess not.

Even though Game 3 will be the hardest game we've had yet these playoffs, we still have a great shot to win it. TD will surely have a better offensive game than tonight and I'm sure he'll make it a point to bounce back on Thursday.

I'm aware of sample size. Green looked very good in 1st Q. I think this is more a case of choking - he doesn't deal well with the intense pressure of 4th Q in WCFs.

OKC scored 67 in 2nd half vs Spurs 65.
The Thunder played their very best ball in the 4th, and got the benefit of every whistle. And they outscored the Spurs by 7 points. I know it felt worse than that, but that's all it was.
You've seen what the Thunder have to do to win a quarter by 7. The Thunder might get a win in OKC, but they won't get two. And I wouldn't be surprised to see another sweep. The Thunder are a very good team. This is a great Spurs team.

LOL!! I think we need more than 2 games to form that opinion, but if you say so.
Edit: I just realized you don't seem to have clicked on the link. It's not about sample size really, it's more about people's bias and inability to tell what a good sample size is.

It's another step up for him. He's hit a wall a couple of times this season, as he got more respect from opposing defenses. But he's found his game, and stepped up. I still think he'll do it again this post-season.
It's one thing to be unable to handle the pressure, and another to be put off the first time you've seen it. Personally, I think he's facing the toughest assignments he's ever seen on the defensive end, and it's hurting him on the other end. The game will slow down for him. And it will make things feel even easier in the Finals.

And BTW - Duncan was 2-11 tonight, and he missed a BUNCH of chip shots in the first game. Things happen. I'm not throwing Green under the bus just yet.

Spurs came back from a 9 point deficit in the 4th in game 1, and held onto a 20+ point lead in game two, both very hard things to do. Two different kinds of adversity, and they rose to the challenge of each. Very impressive.

Fair call. But when a guy misses like that, wide open, game in flux, I'd say it's probably mental. Factor in Green's spotty history and it almost certainly is.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Green succeed, but the way he's played in these two games makes me think he's probably not a guy we want to rely on in the 4th Q late in the playoffs. I hope he proves me wrong.

Definitely. I mean, we're starting two rookies! IMO they've done a great job this post-season. They've been able to learn on the fly, and step up their games as the playoffs continue. Nothing has been decided yet, but chasing around Harden and Westbrook will be great preparation when Green has to go against Wade in the Finals.

Not according to NBA players and coaches. And not against a team like the Thunder. There's a lot of reasons why holding a large lead is difficult in the NBA.

An encouraging thought:
The worst record the Spurs could have to finish the Playoffs and still win the championship is 6-6. We could win HALF of our remaining games and still be champions.
The Spurs are 31-2 in the last 33 games.
What are the chances the Spurs finish worse than .500 in their remaining games?
It's possible, of course...but extremely implausible.

Kawhi is an old guy in a young man's body. And, yes, he's a cut above. One of the biggest things is that when he does make a mistake, he's not beating himself up about it. He's getting down the floor to make the next play. He's a rookie in name only.
But don't forget how well Green played in the first 2 rounds. And if I remember right, he was in at the ends of some of those games. He's just never seen anything like this. (There aren't any real soft spots on this Thunder team to cherry-pick.) But from what I've seen, Danny is a quick study.

Im with chuck Perk is useless this series because Duncan is the fulcrum, not the focal point of the Spurs offense. Perk is one of the best screeners in the NBA on both offense (great for Durant) and defense (horrible for Russ) he creates plenty of open shots on BOTH ends of the court. Parker was killing wesbrook by running his man in to Perk and either Duncan and Tiago. No way Russ can get around both those guys AND stay with TP ...

Haven't forgotten how good Green was in first two rounds, but this series is another level. And yes, you can see that Green gets down on himself when he misses open shots while Kawhi just gets on with business and often gets the ball back at the other end.
Hope Green finds his mental comfort zone in game 3.
