Would OKC really dump Maynor for a 2nd round pick? I don't think so, he's got much more value than that.
In fact, if it was a little as a 2nd rounder, I would hope the Spurs would have offered their first for him. Maybe OKC wouldn't have done that deal with a conference rival but still..

Ronnie Brewer hit a few fluke shots against the Spurs this season. He's actually pretty damn meh. His three-point range is iffy at best, his individual D isn't special and he has bad handles. We'll see. What you're saying is true, the difference is those two guys are playing a lot less than in years past. Neither gets consistent minutes or are regular rotation players. Some small trades or still trickling in. We should probably wait another ~30 minutes before being 100% confidence the Spurs didn't make a trade.
RT @JMcDonald_SAEN: For Spurs fans still clinging to hope of a blockbuster, just got official confirmation. Spurs have nothing in league trade hopper.

I hope OKC trots out Brewer in the playoffs. Sag off him and focus on the stars. OKC brought in shooters like Cook last year who hit big shots because we left him open. Brewer can't shoot for shit. Not worried about his D.
Sagging off Thunder players didn't work out so well last time, tbh.

Given the propensity of scrubs to shoot lights out against us, I'm not so sure that's advisable...
Cook (last season) is a good shooter
Ibaka is a good midrange shooter. So is Collison.
Brewer would be the best option to leave open for the midrange jumper if anyone.

Yep, Danny Green starts when the starter-caliber players come off the bench. Jack's in the rotation as a small forward. Doesn't change the fact that he's better at Green's position than Green is.
Sure does. There's no reason to believe Jack is a better two than Green except what you want to believe based off the distant (in NBA terms) past and a handful of moments. Green is a starter-caliber two, as is Ginobili. Jack is a bench-caliber two and a starter-caliber three. Nothing wrong with that.

Source: Atlanta Hawks blow up deal at last minute that would've sent Josh Smith to Milwaukee. Hawks would've re-
ceived Ekpe Udoh, Luc Mbah-Moute, Beno Udrih and a protected No. 1 pick. Can't imagine the Bucks are happy having invested so much time in trying to make it happen. Leaves big question now if Hawks can do better this summer.
Why would the Hawks not take this deal instead of letting him walk?? Danny Ferry, we taught you better than this.
It is far from certain that he will walk for nothing. I think Ferry is hoping to entice Howard to Atlanta to play with his bud, J Smooth. He would probably agree to paying the max to Smith if it means getting Howard. If that doesn't work the signing team will still need to do a sign-and-trade in order for Smith to get the 5th year. Although the Milwaukee offer seemed pretty good to me, obviously Ferry thinks it is worth waiting for better.

That changed under the new CBA. Sign and trade contracts are limited to 4 yrs with the lower annual increases.

If Green can finish at the rim like he did against the Kings, on a regular basis. Then he can be considered starting material.

I know, but the odds of that happening at that rate again are very low. Ibaka is a good midrange shooter though. And they don't have Cook anymore, thankfully.

Let's hope so. It was mostly a joke, but I'm not real comfortable with the strategy of "leave X guy alone because he can't shoot". Most NBA players are good shooters if you don't go anywhere near them.

Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine (https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine)Golden State indeed made its two tax-shaving trades before 3 PM deadline: Jeremy Tyler to Atlanta and Charles Jenkins to Philly
I think Jeremy Tyler eventually will be a very good player. He is the player I was hoping the Spurs would draft instead of Corey Joseph. I would have done him for Blair and a 2nd round pick in a heartbeat.

No. It means don't use the fact that he was a two in his prime as justification of why he's a two now. It also means don't use the fact that he hit threes against the Thunder as justification of him being better than Green when Jack was terrible for most of the stretch run.
And according to 82games.com Jack hasn't even played the two this season.

Spurs D focuses on giving the shot to the lowest percentage shot. They'll have to do something about Ibaka midrangers, more often. However, they don't have Harden and that weakens Collison since they can't do p&r as often.

No, Spurs STRATEGY focuses on giving the shot to the lowest percentage shooter. When the defense leaves a guy completely open, that's a problem.

He had fallen out of the rotation and was on the last year of his rookie contract. They weren't going to keep him, so they just saved some money. Replaced him on the roster with a cheaper player in Ronnie Brewer.

But the midrange is that shot, usually occupied by the big. Obviously, Ibaka is a good shooting, big so that hurts a little bit against a team like that. The goal is not to give easy points, like layups and 3pt shots (especially from the Sean Ell iot positions).

I wish we whould've at least traded Blair for Omri Casspi. He only has one year left on his deal and is hardly plays in Cleveland. He's a 6'9" SF who can shoot the 3. Probably would flourish in our system. Disappointing.

Maybe Orlando likes Harris and Doron's potential. Not to mention that both are locked up to cheap rookie contracts.
And quite honestly, i couldn't care less about Redick. Overrated pure shooter just like Mike Miller.

As others have said, they received two young players who each have two years remaining on their initial contracts. The Spurs have two such players, but trading Leonard and Joseph plus expirings to get JJ wouldn't have been a good idea.

Respectively disagree about him just being a pure shooter. He's more dynamic than that.
It still can't get over the Thompson trade to Houston, Wtf kings?
