I wouldn't restructure the actual contract, but if it's legal/or possible (due to cap space) to give him a bonus of 2-3 million for one season, that wouldn't be a bad way to go. He gets paid, and next years cap isn't threatened.

We've brought in other running backs aside from what's on the roster to evaluate. They're going to go forward no matter what it seems. Looks like a good old fashioned game of chicken. We're still going to run the ball a high percentage of the time if Lynch doesn't report or retires, I envision spilt carries between Turbin/Michael. If a trade occurs I wouldn't be upset if he ends up in competitive purgatory if we get a nice pick(s).

Are You Concerned About Beast Mode?
Schneider: "You know, no. Everybody loves Beast Mode. We love him and respect the guy. I think what he’s done in this community, for this franchise, is outstanding. It’s one of those deals where you can never get inside somebody’s head. We’re just going with our plan, and I know it’s cliché-ish but next man up. We’ve had a plan in place here for a number of years, and we can’t veer from that plan for one person because it’s the ultimate team sport.”
Give Us Examples Of What That Plan Is:
Schneider: "Well, tough decisions. You make models two and three years out, and you have to stick to that and know that there’s going to be tough decisions along the way. We had to let guys like Red Bryant go, Chris Clemons, we weren’t able to sign Breno (Giacomini), Golden Tate. You have to be able to make those decisions along the way knowing you’ll be able to re-sign Michael Bennett and maybe there’s a free agent that comes in and fits in your bracket. It’s just one of those deals where you have to keep going about your business, and you can’t veer off of that. Around here we talk about what’s next, and the next person is up. That being said, last year we went through this with Brandon Browner. He had his deal, and (Byron Maxwell) got his opportunity. Hey, Marshawn Lynch is phenomenal. Phenomenal player and just a unique part of what we’ve had going on here. Two years ago we were able to redo his deal, and he was a big part of that foundation that we started here.”

Did he tear the same Achilles Tendon? Dayummm. Figured we'd play hardball with Marshawn. But, with him losing 30K a day with that to go up to 3x that after the 6th day. Who can really afford to sit and wait?

It's the opposite Achilles actually. Terrible turn of events for him, and for the team because he certainly brought a different dimension to the TE core. More of a hybrid of Miller/Willson. Pete said, "If it is what they think it is it's just a real heartbreaker. He's worked so hard to get back". They later asked if the severity is what they initially thought, and he replied that it is. Dang :depressed
But I like the speed Luke provides at the TE spot, certainly fits in with the theme.

1.5 million more for the year for Lynch, not bad. But what I like is the fact that 1 million of it was incentives for performance that he may have earned on his own anyways. The other 500,000 was due the following season. So in reality, one could argue that no new money was put into the actual negotiation. Just a little moving around, and guaranteeing the incentives for prior performance which in reality is WELL deserved. No major restructure took place, and he gets paid. Everyone comes away a winner.

Well, they used Chancellor and Thomas on kickoffs last year. I don't like Thomas returning punts but if he is, he needs to know how to call a fair catch. I would much rather see Richardson or maybe Lockette back returning punts. Not the general of our defense or the Sherminator. Hopefully it'll stop...

Thomas is fine on punt returns imo. The problem last night was Sherman getting pushed into Thomas. Pete's approach to special teams is to put the best players out there. Personally I like that approach.

While I'm enticed with the idea of Richardson's speed on special teams, I'd rather just have a sure handed guy who'll make the right play and get a nice chunk of yards. Obviously having two of your best players doing double duty on special teams is alarming, this is nothing new. They've been using our best guys to out right pursue on special teams as well. And while on the surface I'm not happy with them returning kicks/punts, I rationalize it with Deion Sanders doing double duty :lol
They could just as easily get hurt on a standard play so fuck it, it is what it is. I can't sit here and be upset about it, but I'll hold my breath every time that's for damn sure.

He was reckless on the first punt return. He over pursued the ball IMO, he was clearly over anxious to make an impact. And while Sherman was there attempting a block on the second return (fumble), this is something that should've alerted Thomas to signal for a fair catch. The proximity was too close. Ball security is priority number one, not making a play. But he'll be fine, he'll make corrections.

Dat Drive Doe! I'm just glad Okung got off the ground because having him gone again would've been devastating. That's the only thing that made me angry about the whole game. Even when Denver came all the way back I didn't have an emotion based response. Although Denver's defense looks much improved, we're still the better team. They have a great O-Line and a Murray has been tearing it up. The D has faced Lacy and Morris and Murray isn't light years better than any of those two. It's really the O-line that is killing it for the Cowboys. I believe the Champs pull it out but it'll be like a 27- 20 score. At some point, that Cowboys D is going to be trounced. What better start than at the Clink.

wilson was being harassed quite a bit, he took an uncharacteristic amount of shots. sucks that he got lit up on a play that was called back (the LONG harvin TD). speaking of which, penalties on the line negated 2 TD's and a handful of other first downs. i dont remember his name, but the LG fucked up a lot. he had the personal foul AND the holding that negated both harvin TD's, and iirc he had another hold. okung played poorly too. he got called for a hold or two and let his man get passed him pretty easily a few other times

That should've been a penalty on the Redskins for a late hit if they're going to practice what they preach on protecting QBs. There were tons of missed calls and being off for 15 days seems to really put this team in a lackadaisical trance because they came out slow last year after the by, I think.

You're referring to Carpenter, who has improved a lot. Although he had a very bad game tonight. Hopefully Unger isn't banged up to the point that he'll miss time. Pretty much the whole O-Line had a rough go of it on Monday. Russ did take a lot of shots that were uncharacteristic, some controllable, some not. The 40 yard Harvin TD being called sent me over the edge, the other two not so much.

Secondary takes another hit with the loss of Maxwell. Seems to be a bad ankle sprain, unsure how much time he will miss at this point. No Maxwell, Lane, Simon, and now we're deep past the depth. Signing guys off the practice squad etc. Consequently, teams are moving the ball through the air a lot easier. Injuries better now than later though, when we start to get into the heart of the division games around week 12. Missed a bullet with Bobby Wagner yesterday, fortunately.

Maxwell has a calf strain, not a high ankle strain like people originally assumed. Jeremy Lane is on track to return in week 10, and likely to return to practice in about a week. Simon looks to be closer than week 10. I'm really excited about seeing him get snaps. The secondary is hanging on barely, I guess it's this years version of the offensive line from last season. I would rather the injuries be spread out, as opposed to being piled on one position. It causes way too much pressure on the team as a whole.

Yep. For all Arizona's injuries, they've dodged several bullets thus far with Campbell only missing a few games with knee, Cromartie playing hobbled, Perersons concussion, Ellington playing through foot injury, and general wear/tear on older players like Foote.

Rams are a 9-win team in almost any other division, especially if healthy themselves. They've battled through some tough losses as well.
People blowing smoke up the AFC North's ass because everyone is above .500, but Steelers lost to Jets, Browns lost to Jags, Bengals couldn't beat hapless Panthers at home, etc.
So how good are they really?
Cardinals swept the NFC East and are 15-3 last 18 games, with two losses being divisional.
Seahawks and 49ers are looming. I fully expect two losses in those 3 upcoming games. Winning road games in this division is all out war.

I would agree that the records of the AFC North teams are inflated somewhat by the schedule. They play the AFC and NFC South this year, and those are probably the two weakest divisions in football right now. Pittsburgh lost to Tampa Bay and the Jets; the Browns lost to Jacksonville; Cincinnati got curb-stomped by New England and Indy, the only two quality teams they've played outside the division, and Baltimore hasn't really beaten anyone outside the division either. So yeah, the North might be a little bit of a paper tiger right now.

Collectively there's talent. But it's just not the same as NFC West who play each other six times, but also play AFC West (Broncos, Chiefs, Chargers) and NFC East (Eagles, Cowboys, East Coast, EST starts on road).
For shits and giggles, of the two random games Cardinals get 7-2 Lions at full health, and then travel an extra time to East Coast for early start at Falcons.
Beat Chargers who then went on lengthy win streak after loss
Beat Giants on East Coast with Stanton when Giants were healthy
Beat 49ers with Stanton before Willis and Davis went down
Lost at Broncos, but hung tough until 4th
Beat Redskins
Beat Raiders in Oakland
Beat Eagles whose only prior loss had been at 49ers
Beat Cowboys at Dallas, significant only because of rush defense
Beat Rams with Stanton
Not the hardest schedule yet, but they played 2 road game to 1 home game against teams that are a collective 21-7, going 2-1, plus they 2 other wins vs. Playoff teams from last season.
Buy end of the year they'll play 6 of last years playoff teams a total 8 games, and will likely play 6-8 playoff teams from this year for a total of 7-9 games.
It's a brutal schedule. And to literally add insult to injury, they got completely fucked by the BYE week scheduling coming week 4, so now hobbled veterans have to play from week 5 through week 17. Next bye would be wildcard assuming they are top-2 seed.
I'm sure Seattle and San Francisco can say the same.

Maxwell should be back at the 2nd corner as he came out of last weeks game with no issues. So having that second corner will do wonders with the ailing pass rush/D-Line. McDaniels has been solid, as has Williams. We'll need J Hill to step up for us. As you said the other day, Kam is likely to return. If so, that's huge. Just need Bobby and Malcolm and we'll be as good as we can be.

Smitty is practicing this week so hopefully he'll be good to go. And it is true no Chief's WR has caught a TD. The TE and RB (Charles) have caught all TD passes from Alex Smith. Gonna be a tough, tough, tough game in Kansas City.

Yeah he loves to check down, and hit Kelce/Fasano/Charles. Being down LBs, that's a huge problem. KPL/Irv and Brock will have their hands full. I don't worry about K.J. Hopefully Malcolm plays, we need him. As long as K.C doesn't get out to a big lead early, I think we'll be fine. Ball protection will be key. Can't have so many turnovers, and turnover opportunities like last week and expect to beat this type of team. It just won't happen, especially in that environment. No way, no how. Russell has to bring it, and he knows it.

I know he is a run defender more so than his coverage, but I think he'll be a solid player in the front. Time for Brock to make his mark as well.

Brocks foot speed is concerning for me, but what can you ask for in a rookie. Incredibly smart though, can make just about all the calls in his first year. KPL is lighting fast, can plug a hole damn well. Initially I thought him being undersized would be an issue, it isn't really. Coverage skills do leave a lot to be desired. But these are rookies pressed into duty, when they shouldn't be seeing the field at all. And because of that I think they've performed pretty well. And although KPL has some coverage issues, I think he has played better than Brock. Irvin needs to maintain his discipline. He has a Pro Bowl skill set, but he's lacking something upstairs. Nice cog to a defense for sure, but he has a lot more in him.

Yeah, I was listening to Cowherd on my way to work one Monday, and he was calling Bruce Irvin a bust for the Seahawks. While I don't see him as a bust, I think he hasn't played with the heart and determination that would make him unstoppable. You saw the last few minutes of Frizzle's Carolvagina Maine Coon vs the Mighty Seahawks game. He dominated and really sealed the deal. I don't know. I'm probably in agreement with you that he is missing something. Like maybe they want him to float. I expect him to spy Jamal Charles and at least attempt to slow down the speedster waiting for Wright and hopefully Smith to finish him off. Jeron Johnson has been sketchy in place of Chancellor but Kam has made some mistakes. I think that's due to his injuries starting to take a little toll. Man, our beloved Seahawks are going to be in amazing match-ups with great teams up until the last week. Did you see Taima land on someone's head? :lol

Yeah, he's a nickel back all the way. I mean, he's too small to play that demanding jamming D we like to play. But match him up on the 4-5 receiver in a large set and he'll be fine. Lane looked decent when they put him on Preston Parker, but there were times when he'd leave his man to trail Donnell over the middle. I'm like dude, Donnell is decent but he's no Red Head Graham or Gronkowski or Julian Thomas...

Irvin has been hurt a lot. But he got out of the gate very quickly in his rookie year. He was a big part of that G.B game when we had a billion sacks. If he stays healthy I think he'll get a rhythm. But I think mentally he needs work. Hard to fix that.

I think Lane will be fine, he didn't play a lot last year, and has been hurt early this year. The next few games I think he'll get into a rhythm, tremendous speed he has, and can jam the slot well. Mixes it up with guys twice his size too

Yup! And he has been stealing snaps from Kelce all year long. IMO Kelce has TE1 real life and fantasy potential, especially with his YAC ability despite Smith's limitations. The guy can run over, and run around defenders. He'll probably break out next year if they utilize him properly. Wish we had him in Seattle.

Their secondary has been pretty good this year, only 2 QBs have thrown for over 250 yards. Max yardage being 266 by Jake Locker (And they faced Peyton and Brady). They've only allowed two 100 yard rushers this year. Although most backfields are by committee. Overall this is going to be an extremely tough game.

Spur-Addict we're done for bruh. Too many injuries now with Unger hurt again. The offense is not at all performing and I don't think we should've went for it on 4 and 2. Should've taken the points and put the pressure on the Chiefs. We did stop them but then we needed a touchdown to win. Terrible. It was a brilliant run and perhaps we can get some pieces to rejuvenate the Hawks.

The defensive line yesterday was more of a concern than anything else. Getting gashed like that, missing Mebane and Wagner is back breaking. But! All of the non-conference stumbles mean nothing if we win our division. It's all in front of us, we've only played one division game, and having Arizona at home to start it off is good. If we win next week, you never know. Don't give up yet.
