The way Pop benched his starters (except Kawhi) after the shaky start was exactly what he did in game 3 of the Memphis series last year.

Both times it was a wake-up call and both times it ultimately resulted in a win.

ElNono, finishing what SpurPadre, Mugen, Floyd Pacquiao, Amuseddaysleeper, baseline bum and Co started. I'll take that guy on my team any day of the week. Down 22-6 to start the game. No sweat. This is what dreams are made of. This is how legends are born. The Heat thought they were going to come in and ruin the championship celebration… “Not on MY watch!” said ElNono. He put the team on his back and made a grown man move. Looks like someone forgot to tell Pat Riley the rules. Hand down, Man down. Get outta my way, it's time to dance.

That 2-minute stretch after the Heat led 22-6 took the wind out of the Heat's sails. An offensive foul by Shane Battier and 3 missed jumpers by Ray Allen later, the Spurs melt a 16-point deficit down to a 4-point deficit in 1 min. 52 secs... Boom!

I had a strange sense of calm during that deficit as well. I was watching the game with my family and girlfriend and they were all halfway into having conniptions and wondering why I wasn't upset, and for some reason, I just knew the tide was going to turn. Kawhi and Manu finally made it happen.

Perhaps as a Spurs fan, we've been on so many other sides of those 22-9 starts, and they quickly make you realize that 48 minutes is a long time in basketball.

Only thing I was concerned was the amount of calls Miami got early on, i thought we'd have guys in foul trouble all night. But I knew they wouldn't continue to play as bad as they were and knew for sure Miami wouldn't keep up that pace all night. Or rather Lebron I should say.

Making plays for one another. Diaw, the kickout to Mills: a knockdown shooter. Excited about it. Doesn't stop there! Again, Manu recognizes he's hot, gets him the basketball in transition. Another dagger three! And then Leonard says you made the play for Mills; let me make a play for you. In transition, finds Manu, knocks down the shot. A clinic on how to play basketball and how to find the open man.

LeBron's reaction to the shot and the fact that Chalmers once again lost Patty on defense makes me chuckle a bit. :lol

I'm not complaining at all, but I am still shocked how bad Chalmers looked in the Finals. I mean he was pretty useless where as in years past he could at least be relied upon some. I knew he was finished when Norris Cole took most of his minutes.

TampaDude had a bunch of epic posts way back in the regular season where he calls the championship against MIA happening. He nailed the call: teams, victor, and even described the revenge factor accurately.

Spurs were having a tough season at that point too, so the confidence was next level steady. I remember reading it and just knowing. Dude has a time machine and a sports almanac over here or something.

SHHHH...it IS 2015, ya know... :lol

Gotta admit I was a bit worried in the beginning of Game 5. I was so confident that the Spurs were closing it out in 5, that I said I'd buy and wear a LeBron James jersey if Miami won.

First, I was like, "Damn, I guess I'm gonna have to buy that jersey...dammit."
Then the Spurs started coming back, and I was like, "Big early leads almost never hold up. Hopefully Miami is just playing desperate and shot their wad early. I just hope we didn't dig ourselves too deep a hole."
Then Kawhi hit that pull-up 3 to give us the lead, and I was like, "Fuck yeah! WE GOT THIS! We're gonna be the CHAMPS tonight!"

The 4th quarter of Game 5 was SO enjoyable, because I knew we had it won and were not going to let it slip away this time. Parker, who had been quiet for 3 quarters, went 7 for 7 to slam the door in the 4th and take us home.

Easily the sweetest of the 5 championships, IMHO. :hat

and it looks like we sold our soul to the devil to play arguably the most flawless dominating series in modern NBA Finals....we haven't won a "legit" playoff series since then..

Its okay. We lost our right to bitch about anything after 2014. I said if we can bounce back and win the title in a rematch vs Miami, then I would never ever get greedy and demand more championships. Its rare that a championship moment can ever top your first one and we had that.

After the tragedy of 2013 one title couldn't be enough to fix it, so it's very much not okay, especially with the last two years that was so dissepointed and underachiever...

Nah man, maybe if we had beaten the Pacers or some weak shit like that in 2014. But beating down the defending champs and letting the world know who really deserved to win in 2013 was as sweet as a championship can get. And to top it all off I got to watch us win it on our home floor on Father's Day. Will never forget Timmy hugging his crying kids.

You ignoring a lot, i'm not setisfy at all, 2014 might saved me from death, but it's still not enough to take away living with the trauma, embarrassing and devastating feeling that 2013 caused... And those last two underechiver, miss oportonities seasons only add to the hurt and pain...

A night for the true believers. Circumstances forced me to follow the game on a match tracker, you know the type, they refresh in theory every few seconds/minutes. Heat raced to a fair lead. leBron came out like a man possessed. Manu was instrumental in clawing us back bit by bit by halfway through the 2nd, you know the rest. Anyhow a short time later when we went on that amazing run the match tracker froze. I couldn't get it to refresh. I had this feeling maybe something amazing was going on. When it finally did refresh we had just exploded and I could not believe the rapid lead taken. Never got sick of watching the replay ofManu and Patty splashing the Heat during that 'freeze out'.
