The rain delay helps the Jays odds of winning this game, but lowers their overall chance at winning the series if they have to use Stroman tonight, which Gibby said they will if it goes extra.

Pelicans78

I'm exhausted. Reason Davis didn't come in earlier was due to the impending rain delay. Didn't feel comfortable with Madson in the game. Maybe could have kept going with Herrera.

That 5th inning made the difference. Not sure why Goins didn't bunt right away. Cost them some runs. First inning too when Revere got the leadoff double.

Sucks to lose this deep in the postseason, especially since how good you guys were playing in the 2nd half of the season and how good you guys are. Mets don't scare me compared to the Jays.

The Mets pitching staff is legit. They have 4 stud starting pitchers. They are going to be A LOT tougher than Toronto.

But the Royals hit fastball pitchers well and did well against different aces throughout the season. No excuse this year not to win the World Series. Outside of their pitching staff, the Mets really don't compare offensively, defensively, or bullpen.

Pitching wins in October. The Giants beat the Royals cause of Bumgarmer. The Mets starting pitching and their aces will be the difference. They have guys who could be God type of good on any night, and the Royals don't. The other factors will keep KC competitive but their lack of an ace will do them in once again.

Anyone got a PitchTrax on that Davis pitch to Revere?

Not that it decided the game, you can't go 0-12 with RISP and expect to beat the Royals. It's like an NBA fan complaining a bad call decided the game when they went 0-20 from 3pt.

To be fair, the Mets had the lead in game one thanks to a silly error by Hosmer in game one. Hosner's error tonight also gave the Mets another unearned run. This is the worst series defensively the Royals have played all postseason.

What percent of Mets fans who were chanting for Harvey to stay in the game will now call for Collins' head for actually staying with him?

I'm baffled by how many people didn't want to see their closer in the ninth with a 2-0 lead facing elimination.

Hosmer's decision to run in the 9th was ballsy, particularly because he probably should have been out. But that ballsy decision should end up being a huge reason why the Royals will have a parade next week. It typifies the way the club plays -- relentless, mostly fundamentally sound, and willing to take reasonable risks to push the game when warranted.

The Royals have been the best team in this postseason and they've been historically great (both at bat and in the field) after the 7th inning of their games this postseason. If they hold on, they will be deserving champions.

Yost would have easily brought in Wade Davis in that situation. No matter what.

To be fair, Familia has had some huge problems in this series, while Davis has not, so the comparison -- while not ridiculous -- is not apples-to-apples. Still, Collins should have recognized that completing the win was paramount and that even through Familia's struggles, having him fresh is probably more likely to stifle that part of the Royals' order than a tiring Harvey.

It's kind of ironic that in a season where some urged that Harvey should be shut down, the fatal blow to the Mets basically came from allowing him to keep pitching.

I'm not a Royals fan, but I grew up idolizing George Brett, spent plenty of time watching their great teams in the 70's, and rooted for them in the 1980 ALCS and World Series (and in 1985, too). I've got a soft spot for the franchise after all the years of losing there; it's good for baseball when the teams in places like Pittsburgh and Kansas City have a chance to win. The Royals have built this club the right way and, as a bonus, they're fun to watch and seem pretty easy to like.

Glad to see them win for the little guys who have to play the long game by drafting well and developing players to have a chance.
