Raptors usually beat the Spurs in Toronto and lose in SA..the Spurs have been one of the few teams that get owned by Valenciunas for whatever reason:lol

It's going to be strange watching a softer big than Pau on the opposing team..

Especially since the whole "paper tiger" thing spawned from a shitty article saying the Spurs have been pretenders since 2011.

It's not like the Spurs went WCF, Finals (and one goddamn rebound from winning), and a championship over that stint or anything. :rolleyes

I could see people TRYING to make that argument over a LaMarcus led team, but even that would be foolish. We've seen only one postseason run with LMA in which he was playing with a busted shooting hand, and ran into a bad matchup in OKC who, coincidentally, were one win away from taking down the best regular season team of all time and making the Finals themselves.

And OKC, coincidentally benefitted from that horrific McCutchen call on Danny Green for getting hip checked by Steven Adams into a shooting Kevin Durant with a minute to go in a 90-90 tie in Game 5.

Even though the Spurs haven't lost at home to the Raptors in over 9 years, it's almost always a struggle against them, this is the best team they've ever had and they're in search of a signature win, so I fully expect them to play out of their minds.

This should be a play through Aldridge in the post game, especially if Patterson can't go. Siakam, Nogueira and Poeltl, are all light weights, that he should be able to bully on the block.

Some on here like playing both sides of the coin. Spurs win it all, we celebrate a championship and they know no one will care to call them out on it (or if someone does it will make the one who does so look appropriately petty). Spurs lose they feel vindicated and can smugly say "I told you so". It happened in 2014. The naysayers were celebrating along with everyone else. Betting the field against the Spurs means most seasons they get the satisfaction of being "right." With only 2 teams that would be definitely favored against the Spurs in a series, the paper tiger thing doesn't gel. All teams have weaknesses.

It's fine to criticize the team. For sure, they have their flaws, especially with the Gasol/Parker duo, but starting threads like "Pop has given up on the team", "this team is done" etc. aren't useful discussion. It's just more reason for the pessimists to spew their bullshit that barely adds to the discussion. I know we have high expectations of our team, but a lot of teams would kill to be in our position right now.

DPG21920

TP also defended DeRozan perfectly. TBH, I like TP guarding bigger players. He obviously cant guard DeRozan a lot, but he's always been deceptively tough and strong and very disciplined. If the bigger players are a bit slower, I think TP can do a better job there instead of vs the lightning guards.

It's not a bad thing. They run a lot of actions and hand offs, etc..Lot's of cutting and off the ball movement. But that's more because of all their abilities than anything else. Manu is the only one that can beat someone, draw attention and make a meaningful pass.

What Mills does isn't bad, but its not PG.

It's a bit frustrating because he shows shades of being a pretty solid SG, but his confidence is just so up and down. The way he played in that game against GS he played like he should have been starting. I know that game was a career high but he hasn't looked anything close to that since then.
