I'm still kind of shocked you got this (and at $60) given how much you used to talk shit about this game. :lol

Interested in what you think after playing it for a few hours.

I'm willing to give it another shot as it's been so long :lol Playing with an actual fuckin controller will do a lot with how I feel about the game. The game was just dropped off but I gotta head to work in a few, so we shall see. I'll give you an update tomorrow or Sunday.

Well, after playing a couple hours last night and a couple today, motion controls can still eat a dick. Using the pro controller is better but not by a whole lot, controls are still clunky as fuck. But the game itself looks great, with 1080p and 60fps all the way around. Looks way better and is more fun than shitty twilight princess. That whore Fi doesn't bother you near as much, which is something I remember first time around, along with choosing to do fast texts. Just changes that made the game more up to date.

If they made the game without the motion control gimmick, it'd be oh so much better. But, it is what it is.

They will be unveiling a new controller today most likely, which has a lot of people thinking they might add N64 games. Could be some lame Gameboy inspired controller though. Either way probably a safe bet we get some older catalog games today either for Nintendo Switch Online or perhaps a new subscription service since Nintendo might think $20 a year is too cheap for access to games for three or four systems instead of two.

That's what I heard too, with it being gameboy-esque. Meh. I'll have to wait and see. Yeah, $20 a year is way too cheap if they add a shit load of games. If they do unlock their vault, it could go monthly subs, like $5 a month. Who knows. Nintendo is tough to predict, which is why I don't do it much. Everyone always tries to anticipate what they'll release and when Nintendo doesn't do it, they get pissed off. Like the "switch pro". No evidence they were making it but everyone decided they were...until they weren't. And they all got pissed off lol.

You gonna try to get the OLED model? If my Switch wasn't hackable I would have probably sold it to get the OLED. But no way I'd sell my hacked Switch. Man I use it so much for emulation. E.g. right now I'm playing the Japanese Super Famicom version of Dragon Quest 2 on it, fucking love having a portable SNES / Super Famicom / NES / Famicom / Famicom Disk System / PC Engine / Genesis / MAME machine. Plays the handhelds like GBA, Game Boy Color, Game Boy, and Wonder Swan really well too. Probably will use it mostly for emulation until Shin Megami Tensei V comes out in November (hopefully).

Nintendo of Japan just revealed Kirby Discovery, Splatoon 3, "BOTW 2", and Bayonetta 3 as 2022 games. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page where they show 2022 releases:

I say "BOTW 2" because it doesn't give a new name for it, just calls it 「ゼルダの伝説 ブレスオブザワイルド」続編, which reads like

"Zeruda no Densetsu Buresu obu za Wairudo" Zokuhen

and means

"The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild" Continuation

Fuuuuuck no. Mine still works fine and I never play that shit in handheld mode. Maybe if they upped the processor so it could play games without the lag and in 1080 all round....maybe. But the console is almost 5 years old now and you gotta be thinking they'll start hinting at a new one in 2023. That or they'll definitely put in a better processor for some sweet 4k/60fps goodness. But it sounds like yours is all set for the forseeable future as well. I wouldn't see that if I were you.

That movie could be the tits or it could just suck monkey balls. I dig the cast but it's all about the writing/jokes. It's obvious they're going for the humorous setting over what they did in '93 with whatever the fuck genre you can call that one. I'm still craving a show of Zelda as you can't do that story in just one movie, but I'm afraid they'll fuck it up.

Too big of a game to replay IMO, kind of like Witcher 3. They really nailed the exploration in that one though. Besides, you'll have the sequel to look forward to next year. Highly recommend picking up Super Mario Odyssey too, IMO easily the best Mario game since Super Mario World in 1990.

If you're a Zelda junkie like I am, you definitely get some replay value out of it. I've replayed it about 5 or 6 times, the most recent being a master quest runthrough on pro mode (no HUD on screen). Then again, I replay most Zelda games from time to time. It's my fav series, if you didn't guess already.

Seconded as to what Mr. Bum said. Mario Odyssey is a fantastic game, though I would have it being the best Mario since 64.

You ever play the FDS version of Zelda 1? It has way better sound. It's in Japanese but no way you haven't memorized every line of text in that game anyways right? Same for Zelda II though they made a few other changes for the NES version when it came here. Though not always the case with FDS vs NES. Eg I think the music sounds way better in the NES version of Castlevania II Simon's Quest than in the FDS original.

If you ever want to try it there is a great NES, Famicom, and Famicom Disk System emulator called Mesen for PC, and it'll even play the Nintendo VS series arcade games. VS Super Mario Bros was really cool and has some levels that made their way into the ridiculously hard Japanese Super Mario Bros 2. Don't get the official VS Super Mario Bros for Switch though, Hamster completely fucked the port up and it has an unplayable level of input lag.

I like the fact that while you can pretty much go off wherever you want, you will likely get your ass handed to you for awhile until you get upgraded weapons, armor, etc. Really forces you to think IMO and explore to find out where to get the necessary upgrades. Haven't played TP or Skyward Sword, but with the N64 ones and Wind Waker, you can pretty much manhandle all enemies right off the bat which gets boring.

Odyssey is next on my list once I finish this one tbh :tu

I love the climbing in BOTW. Both finding routes up mountains searching for Korok seeds and climbing up towers to open the map and then jump down from. It's really cool being able to go anywhere you can see in the distance. I'd always be looking for ways to up my stamina so I could climb more shit in the game. Practically all I did in the game was climb and explore the world and do shrines and then once I finished that I'd start doing story shit.

I....didn't really care for TP. Some people love it, it's just meh to me. It takes forever for it to get going but after it does, it's ok. Thing is, don't take anyone's opinion for it, always try it for yourself. I played Skyward Sword for the first time this year, after they made it playable with the pro controller. I liked it; it's a bit linear and long, but it's got a decent story and game mechanics. They took some things from SS for BOTW, like how your shield can break, stamina meter, kinda gliding, etc.

RIP BB, for now at least.

The 3D effect is really done well on it, the colors are more vibrant, and picture is less blurry, man it's like night and day better. Can't believe Nintendo wouldn't just do a non 3D port of this version of the game and make it run at 60 fps on Switch. No way Switch couldn't handle it.

Probably not. If they were going to do it I think thy would have this year for Zeldas 35th anniversary. Just pick up a used Wii and hack it if you want to play it. Or a Wii U and hack it if you want to play the remaster.

Though if you have a half decent PC, you can play the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess pretty easily in Dolphin. Here you can see it running full speed on an i5 from 2012 and a very low end GTX 750 gpu.

If your PC is good enough you might also consider Cemu to play the Wii U remaster. Though for that you'll definitely need more gpu horsepower than Dolphin requires.

I finished the game a few days ago. It was fun, the bosses were challenging, and the overall sense of progression was satisfying. I never played a Metroid game before, and I did get lost a few times with all the backtracking, but it was an enjoyable experience. The EMMI zones were definitely frustrating at times. I often died and eventually resorted to just brute forcing my through the sections.

I played through the entire game in handheld mode, so maybe the controls are more intuitive with a traditional controller.

Man...that's not a ringing endorsement for me. The older I get, the less I want to grind through things. Unless the restarts are super quick and convenient. IE : not having to spend 5 minutes getting back to a tough spot.

When exploring an area for the first time, there are checkpoints everywhere. If one goes into a room and is killed, they usually respawn in the previous room. I died plenty of times to bosses and just respawned at the door right before the boss fight. However, if one is going back through old areas and they die, they respawn at the last save spot. That could be frustrating due to how used to the checkpoints I was, but it didn't happen too much and there are lots of save rooms.

Also, don't accidentally choose not to continue after a boss fight; I did that once and had to start back at a save room AND rewatch an unskippable cuisine (cutscenes are slippage after the first time only if one continues).

Mario Odyssey was great because it didn't force you to finish a difficult challenge to move on. One of the more frustrating ones was riding the lion thing in the sand world. There was some level in a castle or something that forced you to be pretty precise. And that was just to get through it and not pick up all the coins/etc. I ended up moving on and then coming back much later to round it all out.

Supposedly Super Mario Odyssey 2 got leaked back a while ago on 4chan and of course no one paid attention to it, but apparently that same post linked the new Sonic game just announced so could be legit.

Man...I hope it's imminent. I'm looking forward to BOTW 2 but for an epic game that you can actually play in 30 minute chunks and get something done, Odyssey rules. Also, that you can take a few days off from playing and not have to try to remember wtf you were doing.

For the jump rope one, I couldn't get that one either until I threw the hat in mid-air around 40 or so jumps. That way you hang in the air for two cycles and it's much easier to time, trying to jump over one cycle seemed downright impossible for me. But yeah most 3D Nintendo platformers that I've played, have a few collectibles that are just no fun at all due to 'bad design' difficulty. Pleasantly surprised Odyssey doesn't have those. Whoever thought 'Beaver Bother' from DK64 or the pinball/'chuckster' Shine from Sunshine were a good idea should seriously contemplate the viability of suicide

Also the soundtrack for Odyssey was God-tier. Surprised a lot of people don't agree, but I liked it a lot imo. On a related note, it's amazing what a sh!tty game Sunshine turned out to be in hindsight despite having great potential and (IMO) a good overall design/plot. Way too many tedious/BS shines, soundtrack was forgettable all around, and the levels were pretty boring. The only ones I really liked were Gelato Beach and the hotel one. And the final level/boss was so laughably bad, you could almost argue they did it for comedic value. An anticlimactic final level that revolves around navigating a very finicky canoe and to follow that up with Bowser nonchalantly hanging out in a hot tub? I just wonder what the backstory behind that game was. 64 was obviously great, and while I haven't played Galaxy yet that one seems to be universally applauded

Never played Sunshine, one of those games I have always meant to play but never find time for. You tried Bowser's Fury yet? I played the shit out of Super Mario 3D World on Switch when we had that week of rolling blackouts from the cold. Eg would charge the Switch and get work done for the hour and a half there would be power, then play that shit for that hour and a half we'd be blacked out, and so on. Didn't get too far into Bowser's Fury though because I got a PS5 not too long after starting it. But it was pretty good for the first 5 hours or so I put into it.

Also, Mario Maker 2 is a must buy just for the built in levels. Easily my favorite 2D Mario since New Super Mario Bros on the DS, maybe even the best 2D Mario since Super Mario World on SNES. Way more interesting game than New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe IMO.

Sunshine is not a terrible game overall or anything, just by Mario standards it's noticeably bad compared to the rest for whatever reason. Still fun to play for the first time, I just don't have a desire to ever replay it and if I did I'd just skip those few shrines from he11 and save the frustration. Same thing when I replayed Banjo Tooie a few times, I skipped that one jiggy where you had to race against that bird going a million miles per hour and you physically had to slide your thumb back and forth on the control pad because you couldn't 'tap A' fast enough. I remember a friend of mine beating that stupid thing and literally getting a blister on his thumb, and I just said f*ck that I'll just finish at 99.9% :lol

Haven't played Bowser's Fury, the next one I need to get too is Mario Galaxy. Gonna order the All Stars pack one I finish Odyssey and then work my way back from there. Who knows though, BOTW 2 might be out by that point IMO

LOL that race sounds cheap as hell.

I wouldn't sleep on getting 3D AllStars, as it got discontinued back in March. I can't believe it's still in stores, but at some point that game is going to become hard to find. You can't buy it digitally any more, as Nintendo went with the Disney model of only releasing those remasters for a limited window so they don't have time to go down in price.

Bowser's Fury is good until it isn't. There's a design flaw that if you don't know going in, it will make your game playing experience much harder.

I'm looking forward to what is supposed to be an open world Kirby game this year.

It's been a while but it had to do with fighting Bowser with less than all the shines and then when you beat him, he never goes away. With the harder shrines remaining, it makes it damn near impossible to get the remaining shrines while he's out.
Maybe I'm just lazy.

I was reading E3 might not even happen this year, so we'll see. I don't think Nintendo has a problem with releasing big games via their direct and skipping E3.

I was intrigued by Mario Strikers. It's been a hot minute since I've played that. Also, LOL at their mario kart shit. They really don't wanna make a new one. Seems like they're happy with updating older games, so it wouldn't surprise me if they start pumping more of those out for switch online

Oh shit, the Japan feed has more games not shown in the English one. It has another RPG called Loop 8 that looks pretty good, as well as 十三機兵防衛圏 (13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim in the US), which I have been wanting to score a Japanese version of forever. April 14th for the latter, can't fucking wait for that one. Strongly prefer playing VN like that in Japanese instead of English.

I strongly doubt we get a new Switch in 2023. Nintendo is still using ancient 16nm production from 2016 and the original Switches before Mariko (eg the red box Switches) were on 20nm lithography from 2014. They'll need to move to TSMC's 7nm process to have any hope of getting to say PS4 Slim level power, and TSMC 7nm is really expensive to manufacture chips on right now since it's what every AMD gpu is on, every AMD cpu, every expensive Nvidia professional card (their gaming cards are on Samsung 8nm which sucks for power consumption and thus isn't an option for Switch), PS5, and the XBox Series consoles. Capacity on TSMC 7nm is very hard to come by right now and won't be economical for Nintendo until all the big players move to TSMC 5nm. Could be waiting until the PS5 Slim and 5nm XBoxes come out before 7nm TSMC gets cheap enough for Nintendo to manufacture on, as Nintendo will not take losses or break even on hardware like Sony and Microsoft are willing to.

Even worse if Nintendo can't get PS4 level performance in 15 Watts until 5nm.

Doubt we see a new Switch for a while, and I bet the next Switch will just be an iteration of the current one, with higher clockspeeds and a gpu with more transistors, but still fully compatible with current gen Switch games.

I was going off their averages over the past 20 or so years. It was 5 years from Gamecube to Wii, 5 years from Wii to Wii U, and 5 years from Wii U to Switch. I agree that they'll probably just introduce a beefier switch, like everyone thought they'd be doing last year until it was just the OLED version. Nintendo gave up on the graphics race years ago during the GC era, which I'm fine with. I long ago stopped giving a shit about how real a game looks; I just want some shit to entertain me. Plus now that the 3ds is put out to pasture, I'm guessing Nintendo will probably just focus on a hybrid like the switch from here on out

This is going to be a super long Switch gen, throw that five years out the window now, Nintendo is acting like they're only halfway through the Switch generation. I think Switch needs an upgrade bad, for instance Hyrule Warriors was a great looking game in the previews but Switch just doesn't have the hardware to run a game like that well unless it's Nintendo developing it in-house. Xenoblade 2 also runs like crap. Dragon Quest XI S looks really bad on it too despite it not being that graphically intense a game. I'm worried about Switch's second half of its life being like the Wii's where it's way too underpowered to get interesting 3rd party exclusive games.

I honestly think they're going to keep some sort of rendition of the switch on the market for years to come, like the DS style but longer. But yes, they desperately need to upgrade the internals. When even some of the launch games of the Switch were on the struggle bus, you gotta upgrade that shit. I do hope they update it to not scare away other developers like you said, but it is Nintendo and they're fuckin weird when it comes to stuff like this

Addendum...this game's better than my original, "meh". There's enough stuff to do after you finish the game. Going back to older levels is actually pretty fun since I didn't spend a ton of time playing through them the first run through.

But still, I see the consensus rating as somewhere around 8 or 9 out of 10. Mario Odyssey is a clear 10. To think that Kirby is just a step or two below is kind of ridiculous. If the only guideline I have to compare it to is Odyssey, the Kirby is like a 5.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 Might Be Too Big for the Nintendo Switch, Experts Say
Could Breath of the Wild 2 be another cross-gen title?

Will The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 launch on an as-yet unrevealed Nintendo console? Some tech experts are theorizing that could be the case based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2's most recent round of footage.

Over on Digital Foundry (first reported by GamesRadar), Richard Leadbetter, John Linneman, and Alex Battaglia dissected the most recent Breath of the Wild 2 footage, pointing out a couple of details that suggest the next big Zelda game might be too big to perform on the current Switch hardware.

"This trailer was interesting because the image quality seemed quite good, I think," Linneman said. "I was a little bit surprised by how sharp and clear this looked compared to the original in general."

Battaglia dove into specifics, saying that the "volumetric clouds" present in the footage would be hard for the current 2017 Switch to pull off, while camera cuts with perfect anti-aliasing are something even the Xbox Series X struggles with.

"It could be the next Switch, it could be just that they rendered out a trailer on higher resolution and higher settings," Battaglia said.

However, the guys were quick to point out that Nintendo generally doesn't release trailers at a higher quality than the final product, with one exception being the draw distance for the original Breath of the Wild.

It's worth noting that the original Breath of the Wild was developed as a Wii U game, so a visual bump can be expected for the sequel, which is currently only slated for Switch. That being said, it wouldn't be the first time a major 3D Zelda title launched across platforms, with Twilight Princess coming to GameCube and Wii, and Breath of the Wild serving as the swan song for Wii U and the killer launch title for Switch.

Switch Pro rumors have been swirling on the internet for years. Still, since the original Switch launched in 2017, Nintendo has not released a more powerful model of the console. The biggest update came with last October's Switch OLED Model, which served as an upgrade for players who primarily use handheld or tabletop mode.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 was recently delayed to Spring 2023. When announcing the delay, Zelda Producer Eiji Aounuma said "in order to make this game's experience something special, the entire development team is continuing to work diligently on this game, so please wait a while longer."

These games have been getting teased for Switch for years lol, I'm over the idea now. There's a Nintendo Direct tomorrow at 8AM BTW, but it's for third party games. Persona series finally coming to Switch is the big rumor for tomorrow. LOL if it's not Persona 5 Royal though. But Atlus is that stupid with the platforms it picks.

Damn if you're only a Switch gamer, NieR Automata on October 6th is a real banger. One of 11 games I have ever played that I'd rate a perfect 10/10. I can't recommend this game enough. Really fun fast paced combat, one of the most memorable stories I have ever experienced in gaming, either the best or second best soundtrack I have ever heard (with Persona 5 Royal being the other), and a lot of content, though not an RPG you'd need to drop 80-200 hours into to finish. This is one of the rare masterpieces released, and was my last 10/10 game I had played (released March 2017 for PS4/PC) until Elden Ring back in February.

Also, speaking of Persona 5 Royal

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgbQIcjzq_4

If you like turn based RPG at all then P5R will be a must buy on October 21st. The other two I'd wait to see if you like P5R, and if you do, they're highly worth getting too.

I hope the controls are tight. When I first played Portal 2, it was on a desktop with a trackball and seemed ideal. Later I rented it and played it on my kids XBox and it was way more difficult with the controls.

Bought this yesterday. $20 is a heck of a deal. I started with Portal 1 (which I had never played). It was fun but the writing and puzzles aren't even close to Portal 2. Maybe when I finish it, I'll have a different opinion. But as soon as Portal 2 downloaded, I switched over. It is two separate downloads. 2 is just so smooth. Controls were fine. Puzzles build at a progressively harder level but nothing to make you quit. If you stick with it, you'll find the answer. Also, the billboards before each level help. Great game. Still 10/10. Even though I finished it years ago, it still seems fresh. Hasn't lost anything.

Reviews have started coming out and this is being called another miracle port, seems like it's really impressive on Switch. Which is hilarious because the game runs like crap on PS4 and the PC port was complete dogshit. But the studio who handled the Switch port is the same one who somehow got Dying Light running and running well on Switch. Plus this game is $40. Complete no-brainer at this price.

After putting a few more hours into it last night I'd say you're probably going to really like this if you were a fan of BOTW. Reviews are out and it's getting 10/10 across the board. Metacritic is 96 on it, whole BOTW was 97. Though I think this is a superior game to BOTW in almost every way. Honestly think it's the best game Nintendo as ever made, and this is coming from someone who played Mario Bros back before they put a Super on that motherfucker in the arcades when it was new. Even if it was the only good game on the Switch it would probably be worth buying a Switch for this game.

Also my complaints about how rough the game looked were addressed by the 1.0.1 patch. So definitely do the 300MB update as soon as you get the game home. It looks a lot better IMO than playing the game straight off the cartridge.

It probably helps it’s in house developed but Nintendo really should start planning their next console if anything to make future games viable in terms of graphics and such.

They used an upscaling technique called FSR that's big on PC but hasn't been used too much on console to get the game to look 1080p while rendering 720p to 900p. I think that's what the 1.0.1 update was, and the difference in how the graphics look is huge. Vastly improved with much better performance after that patch.

I kind of expect ToTK to be Nintendo's swan song for Switch since they aren't doing a June Direct this year and have put off their big yearly showcase for September. So sounds like maybe they'll be showing off new hardware for a launch next spring. Without that June direct they probably have nothing big to show off for the rest of 2023.

IMO, the only thing that comes close to ToTK is BoTW :lol. Those two are basically in a class of their own, although aLttP is amazing and also similarly revolutionary considering it came out in 1991. I actually replayed the game recently, and was surprised at how many secrets and other hidden stuff there were in the Overworld...comparably OOT was practically empty.

The only non-Zelda Nintendo game, IMO, that is somewhat in the discussion would be Odyssey. Lots of puzzles/exploration and good balance between the two. But after that...:lol Even games like Metroid Prime (which was great) that are considered top 5 to 10 best Nintendo games ever made, depending on who you ask, isn't even in the ballpark

What really sets BOTW and TOTK apart, is that you can just go at your own pace. If you want to log a million hours in these games uncovering new stuff, then you can probably do it. But, if you want to go straight to the final boss with minimal time spent or just complete dungeons, divine beasts, etc you can do that too

I have been playing it for two weeks and it seems a much much bigger game than BOTW. It's almost like a combination of BOTW, Ocarina, and Minecraft in that it has the incredible exploration of BOTW (with much more to explore) while also bringing back dungeons like we got used to in the old school Zelda games and then the crafting and fusion systems where you can just try all kinds of wild shit and see what works, what's funny, what causes you to fail spectacularly, and so on. I honestly think the game is a little underrated at 96 on Metacritic. And I'm blown away how well they got this physics system working on the dinky Switch hardware. This is such an ambitious game.

Man Lynel fights are such a bastard. Ran into a Lynel in the Lanayru Heights area and to beat it I had to

1. Throw a fire fruit to set the grass on fire
2. Jump up and open my glider to fly up from the fire's updraft
3. Go into slow mo when shooting my bow (using the Royal Bow from Hyrule Castle) so I could hit the Lynel in the head and stun it
4. Jump up and mount the Lynel
5. While riding the Lynel strike repeatedly with my best weapon (Right now the Royal Guard's Claymore from Hyrule Castle with the Flux Construct III Core fused to it)
6. Get thrown off the Lynel and go back to Step 1

Swear I had to go through this loop like 7 times to kill it. Gives an amazing bow and some nice upgrade materials but the Knight's Halberd it drops is so shitty, didn't even pick it up.

The ascent to the top of the blizzard with the dynamically changing music, and then how the Wind Temple music went from quiet ambient --> ominous --> determined --> epic ... they even brought out the Hitchcock Strings lol felt like I was watching an actual movie vs playing a game . That was pretty incredible IMO, I haven't done the other three yet but hopefully they're not too much of a letdown after that first one

I really enjoyed the boss fight too in the Wind Temple. The three temples I have done are all awesome, but I gotta admit I'd sometimes cheese things by carrying around a long bridge or building a hoverbike out of two fans and a control stick, though you gotta really build your battery up a bit to effectively use the hoverbike.

I can't believe getting three 10/10 games in the last year and a half between Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarok, and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Usually I'll only see one or two games I'd rate 10/10 per generation so to play through three in 18 months is nuts.

yeah considering the game sort of guides you to the Rito area as the first of the four regions, it was nice not to actually need weapons to defeat the boss since most players would only have low level ones at that point.

Also :lol apparently a lot of players are climbing all the way up to the Wind Temple without Tulin and getting completely stuck from reading YouTube and Reddit. Funny because BOTW was 6 years ago and you have a lot of players with no background of that game with TOTK even being their first Zelda game. Without playing BOTW, it’s totally reasonable to just wander around, see Hebra Peak, and start climbing without knowing frozen Rito Village is the cultural
hub of the area and to visit there first. One of the cons of a completely open world game. And with practically unlimited crafting abilities, there’s really no stopping a determined player from getting all the way up Stormwind Ark without Tulin :lol

Damn the Gerudo weapons are just monsters since they double fusion power. Have a silver lynel horn fused onto a pristine Gerudo claymore that's about 140 points of damage and doing that hold Y attack with three full stamina wheels I can take about 65% of a King Gleeok's health in that move, though it breaks the weapon if I do the final ground smash at the end of that hold attack so I change weapons right before then to keep from breaking it. Then I finish him off with my pristine Gerudo scimitar fused with a silver lynel horn that does like 137 damage.

damn, just finished the Wind Temple and have 11 hearts (no upgrade yet)...tried to take on that Gleeok in the Hebra Tundra. My most powerful weapon had 33 attack power, and just NOPE'ed out of there when I saw that still wasn't doing shit while they could KO me in two shots. Gonna focus on getting the Great Fairy upgrades now before doing anything else tbh

Gotta also make attack up food for bossfights in this game. Five mighty bananas cooked together give you a max attack up, which I think elevates your attacks by 40%, both hand and bow. I'll just say Gleeoks are real bastards in this game and leave it at that. :lol

Also god damn the hearty salmon is easily the best cooking ingredient in the game. If I cook five prime meats I get a skewer that restores 15 hearts. Cook five gourmet meats and I get a skewer that restores all hearts. Cook five hearty salmon I get a skewer that restores all hearts and gives me twenty yellow hearts also.

Did all 152 shrines in Tears and I swear at least half of them I cheezed with ultrahand + recall, making bridges, or shield surfing instead of making vehicles for rail sections and the fighting ones I'd just try to knock enemies into the water or off high places. :lol

Apparently can't get full hearts and full stamina. Have 3 stamina wheels but with all the dungeons done and all the shrines done I have 38 hearts (40 is max, not counting yellow hearts).

Kind of sad I'm about to finish this. Easily a top 10 game I have ever played in the last 40 years.

Just rolled the credits on TOTK and despite having sky high expectations for this game it pretty much broke them in every way and is a coin flip with Bloodborne for my game of the century. I didn't think much of the story nor the main path of Breath of the Wild and mostly enjoyed it for the exploration, but the story is pretty solid in Tears and it has some very memorable boss battles in addition to being way better than BOTW on exploration too. Hands down the best thing Nintendo has ever done. I'm still in awe they got the physics system of this game to run on a fucking Nvidia Shield streaming box but cut to half the speed of the Shield.

tbh I want to finish this game at some point but there's so much to do that it got overwhelming so I put it down for awhile. Like literally felt like I couldn't walk 10 feet without stumbling into a sidequest or Zonai engineering mini game that would be even more time consuming to score points on. Figured it would take me 1 million hours or so to finish the game at the rate I'm going whereas BOTW took me only 3 months or so to beat the game and complete all the shrines without feeling like I was wasting my life gaming. Debating whether or not to pick up the game again soon and just finish the story and then just finish the rest of the optional stuff at a leisurely pace

Unlike BOTW, I think this one really is worth beating the main story even if you skip exploring every island or unlocking all of the depths. Whereas BOTW was strictly about the exploration to me.

One thing I like about this game is that despite the 1 billion things there are that you can do, you can actually get around pretty quickly if you want to without having to warp by using the Sky Islands. I went from some island above the Tabantha Snowfield all the way to Zora's Domain in like one minute, just by gliding between islands using the Zonai wing and Tulin's breeze. By hovering over large stretches of land, you can skip a lot of the tedious trek through empty open world fields and just get to key areas on the map if you're in a hurry which really wasn't the case in BOTW. Thought that was a genius move by Nintendo since it's the same overworld and a lot of returning players aren't going to be interested in several minutes of walking through the same barren landscape littered with generic foxes and bokoblins to get from point A to point B.

The Depths can still be a slog at times

Have you upgraded your Zonai battery? Because the depths become a lot easier to explore using the hoverbike

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FX8TTSiID0

Just throw one of the giant brightbloom seeds on the front and you have a much better light on your bike than the Zonai light you can get, plus it doesn't consume any battery power. Best part of the depths IMO is it's easier to find lightroots in the depths than shrines at ground level, and every lightroot in the depths is directly under a shrine at ground level, and vice versa. It doesn't help you find shrines in the sky but the lightroots are how I found every shrine in the game. The sky shrines are pretty easy to find once you have upgraded the battery at least halfway and have the Zonai armor that doubles your battery power if you have all three pieces on and they're upgraded to the second level.

nope tbh tried making it once and couldn't get it to take off right so was just like "ah w/e I'll just explore the Depths on foot since it's new territory anyway" but this sh!t is starting to get tedious so I'll try it again IMO. :lol I fell down one of the holes in near Death Mountain and crawled up some hill in the dark, fought off gloom hands and barely made it to a lightroot after having to zigzag through an entire section of Gloom...only to zoom out and see that it only lit up like 0.1% of the map roflrofl. pretty much have no choice but to find a faster way at this point. On an unrelated note, it's cool to actually pick this game up as it's getting off the ground and knowing that players are figuring out knew ways to build stuff by the hour even though I'm staying off the forums for the most part to keep the spoilers down to a minimum. For BOTW, I played late in 2021 when all the tricks were already fleshed out by that point

Have you gotten autobuild yet? The hoverbike is a pain before then since you have to keep remaking it until you get it right every time you want a new one, but once you have autobuild you can make it once and then save it to your favorites and use that every time to get a good hoverbike.

I'll be getting it but it won't be a day one purchase. I've gotten to where I don't play any video games....except Zelda lol. I get bored/a headache with any other console games for whatever reason. In any case, I expect Mario Kart and Metroid Prime 4 to be the big launch games. I don't expect the next 3D Zelda game to come out until late next year/early 2027.

Turned out the bump in price for physical looks to be Europe only. Ugh if my Japanese was better I'd be tempted to get the $330 Japan only version, but Dragon Quest is about my skill limit for playing in Japanese. I don't really mind the $450 price. The people wanting it to be $299 are stuck in 2015 and are delusional. What I don't like is Nintendo's absolute refusal to lower the price on any games. Fucking BOTW, a Switch 1 launch title, is still 60 bucks. Gimme a break lol.

The Japanese only version makes no sense. Japan buys the second most Nintendos after the US so they're willing to lose over $100 per unit cuz the yen sucks? I get Japan is xenophobic as fuck but c'mon.

$450 sucks for this if the rumors are right and it has hardware on par with the $350 Steam Deck that is an 800p gaming system. This is honestly probably a system I'll buy once there is another 3D Zelda and another 3D Mario, assuming the Zelda and Mario are Tears & Odyssey quality and not Skyward Sword and Super Mario 3D World quality. Most of those games are stuff a lot of people have already played on PS5 or PC though. And I gotta think if the Switch 2 was going to have another 3D Mario or GTA VI this year it would have been shown in their big Switch 2 Direct. It looks more like Nintendo is scared to compete with GTA VI this year and holding back on another 3D Mario until after.

I mean, I'll definitely get it one day, purely for the fact that it can play games without lagging during graphics heavy parts. I'll keep it purely for that fact and to play older nintendo games on it. And since it can finally do 4k on it, I highly highly doubt the next Mario/Zelda games won't be older style quality. It won't compete with Sony/Microsoft in terms of quality but Nintendo went away from that race decades ago.

Sopranos is probably the peak Italian gangster media ever put out, though the movie from 2021 sucked (I think it's called Many Saints of Newark). It's funny it was so realistic the feds got the DeCavalcante family out of New Jersey on tape saying yeah that's us from the show and asking if the show had a plant in their family.

sons I got into modding those old SMW SNES games back in like 2020 for fun. Wonder how easy / hard it would be to do the same on the BOTW / TOTK engine.

Thinking about modding a final shrine bonus level with the final boss being a 4-headed totem pole stacked with fire breathing Jason Garrett bobble heads regurgitating quotes about "The Process" and "Finish the Fight". Maybe have it walk around on legs like those BOTW Test of Strength bosses. Each bobblehead takes eight hits from the bow to topple to go with the 8-8 meme tbh imho
