Agreed. He explicitly stated he did not want to play the 5. In the first half, he was at the 4. He did damage. Had about 10 freebie attempts. Ultra aggressive.

As I said in my 4th point, our centers weren't doing shit, which necessitated moving AD to the 5. His shot was broke... and he was getting banged around by Trez.

Some, I'll say was rust (his jumper historically is pretty good), but most was him being soft.

Hate to say it, but we kind of needed Rondo out there. Can't have just LBJ as a facilitator out there. Quinn Cook, Troy Daniels, and Avery Bradley ain't it. 1) Continuity. Clipps returned every significant player from last year. Then added two stars. Lakers have like 9 new players including a new star. Gonna take a while to gel, so in the meantime...

2) Lakers gonna have to rely on their defense until their offensive identity is established. We won't really see what they have until Kuz (and Rondo for the 2nd unit?) both return. Kuz might be back Friday :tu

3) The Lakers strength is their frontcourt, much like the Shaq years and the Pau/Baby Drew/Odumb years. I think this year's version couldne special with AD's versatility and Dwert's resurgence (at least defensively). We'll have the best frontcourt on the court most nights, with Bron exploiting mismatches.

4) Clipps strengths besides continuity is perimeter defenders, and Sweet Lou/Trez. They will be led by Kiwi and PG, but will they be healthy? Kiwi already ducking B2Bs, < 5 games in. PG coming back from 2 shoulder surgeries. AD has missed less total games than Kiwi BTW (media won't talk about det fact tho).

It's gonna be at least 20 games until we know what the Lakers are. Defense will be our calling card until lineups and rotations are set. Lakers currently are 3rd in points allowed (97.5ppg), 1st in blocks (8/game), 5th in opponents FG% (40.7%), and 5th in opponents 3pt% (28.8%).

I don't know if any of this ^ holds up throughout the season, but I like what they are building towards. That opening loss to the Clipps was a wakeup call and probably the best thing that could have happened to the Lakers tbh.

That Disabled Player Exception that the Lakers received in the wake of Cousins’ likely season-ending injury in August may be the carrot that ultimately wins them Collison, because since it’s not prorated it would allow the Lakers to more money than the Clippers can. The Lakers could waive Cousins without losing the exception because it’s officially been granted, but likely won’t for the reasons outlined above.

Had the Lakers let Cousins go while their application was pending, they wouldn’t have been eligible for the exception. Now, the only way the Lakers can lose the exception is if Cousins is traded or returns to play. They’d still have to cut someone to use it to sign Collison, but it does allow them to virtually double what the minimum is for any other team for the rest of the season if they free up a roster spot.

Lakers had 20 blocks last night. That's not sustainable, but something coaches that gameplan for the Lakers to put on film (I've seen many players pass up layups, worried about getting swatted :lol). Ideally if the Laker guards can chase 3pt shooters off the 3pt line and funnel them to our 3headed monsters down low, good things will happen defensively.
