Baltimore ran the ball at a league-high 49% clip this season, but it came out against Kansas City and inexcusably tallied just THREE early-down running-back runs in the first half. The game script can't be a scapegoat either, as the game was well within reach for its entirety.
Baltimore averaged north of 28 points per game this season and decided to abandon the run and derail the train that earned them the opportunity to host the first AFC Conference Championship in M&T Bank Stadium history.
Conductor Jackson could only fabricate so much offense to make up for the complete incompetence of Monken and head coach Jim Harbaugh. It's borderline negligible and should be a fireable offense.
Jackson now faces similar criticism as AFC foe Josh Allen. Neither can seem to out-duel Mahomes, who has reached four Super Bowls and the AFC Championship in each of the six years that he's been in the league. Jackson and Allen are great, but Mahomes is on a tier of his own. And to make it a tougher task for any AFC rival to knock off Kansas City, Mahomes has a perfect football marriage with head coach Andy Reid – one of the greatest all-time offensive minds.
Jackson was swimming upstream in a total riptide on Sunday. He was alone in the water while the lifeguards were seemingly off duty. Before pointing the finger at Jackson during the offseason, let's remember that his coaches set him and the Ravens up to fail miserably in the 2023 AFC Championship game.

Blake and Harbaugh talk:
"sometimes you need to be willing to get big and run the ball" because the way things played out is "not going to win an AFC Championship Game."
"When you look at the way the game played out, you can understand it from a football perspective but once you get through all that you come back — You want to run the ball against the Chiefs," Harbaugh said. "There’s no doubt about it and we did want to run the ball against the Chiefs. We weren’t able get to it."

Who besides you and Chinook were blowharding about Bateman?
4 Baltimore Ravens we can safely call busts after the 2023 season (ebonybird.com) (https://ebonybird.com/posts/4-baltimore-ravens-safely-call-busts-2023-season-beckham-bateman)
Bateman recorded just 32 catches for 367 yards despite playing in all but one game, showing that he never quite took to Todd Monken's offense. With Zay Flowers coming close to approaching Bateman's total output in three seasons during his rookie year, it's becoming clear he never will be a primary target for Jackson.
The Baltimore Ravens must admit Rashod Bateman struggled mightily
It would be very foolish for Baltimore to pick up his fifth-year option, especially when they are paying Jackson big money and will commit resources to more productive young players like Justin Madubuike and Kyle Hamilton. There's a good chance Bateman's time in Baltimore is coming to an end.

You used to try to deny that Jackson has had mostly sub par or ever suck receivers ever since he joined team.
You or Chinook commented on Bateman whom I was not high on when he could not stay on the field and even when he could.
Mark Andrews has been mostly solid but choked in the playoffs and a few one possession games when Lamar hurled another of his 70% pass completion rate bullets to him.

Or he will get 20 carries some games and over 1,000 yards, maybe even 1200 until Dumbah shelves him in the playoffs?
More likely he gets 150 carries next season and goes for 600? Wonder what Henry himself want to do. Scale back and extend career several more years or continue to pound it?
Odell Beckam had a serviceable year, albeit vastly overpaid given his usage and injuries. But a net positive last year for sure. It's a tricky situation for RBs. If you take on 300 carries you best yourself up into a 5 year career. If you take on 150 to extend then teams may not want to pay much.

Henrys 9th year, 2000 carries under his belt.
Like to think he's going to limit to 100 carries and make a strong playoff push.
Again, i have little faith in de Costa and Dumbah.
But when you have that fantastic QB almost anything can happen. Perhaps another AFC Championship game can be obtained.
Dk what the D is going to look like. Super foolish letting Jav Clowney get away. Or rather wasting the great year he had in what could have been a one and done Super Bowl.
He missed his chance this past year (and in 2019 too if we’re being honest).
He’s a great regular season player and no way Baltimore can do better at the position in the next 2-3 years, but he’s never going that far as a starter again. It is what it is. FWIW, Allen ain’t going to win either so long as that ginger plank of wood is calling the shots

I think Jackson should do a lot more of those Patty Mahomes type moving pocket runs. You can tell Jackson has been instructed to run only as a last resort. He took a sack today that had bust a move written all over it. But, got to stay healthy i agree 100.

Local Baltimore Radio hosts/beat reporters are convinced that Ravens want Lamar to run less. 400-600 yds. According to the local reporters, a major point of emphasis is gonna be less designed runs. What would really help is Henry staying healthy.
Source, I live in DMV area and listen to 105.7 the fan all the time.
Is there any talk, continued or new on getting Lamar a professional receiver?
Or is Numb Nutts GM and Dumbaugh sticking with Bateman?

Be still my heart.
A "star" WR has been acquired. :rollin
Ravens trade for star wide receiver right before Broncos game (https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/ravens-trade-for-star-wide-receiver-right-before-broncos-game/ar-AA1t9szn?ocid=msedgntp&pc=U531&cvid=079ebb280fa34e9fb0e7fcbcd2e4a1e8&ei=21)

Diontae Johnson has huge upside and has been hidden on anemic offenses with shit QBs. His best QB was Big Ben when his arm was already shot.
He does have a lot of baggage, though. Pittsburgh, for as stable as they are as an organization, has a strange track record of drafting talented head cases at WR (Plax, AB, Wallace, Bryant, Diontae, Pickens, etc.). He’s immediately the best WR in the room, and hopefully a stable organization will keep his theatrics under wrap.
With that said, Baltimore’s money would be better spent on DL and secondary. They’re already the #1 offense and with that running game they will finish no worse than 2nd in the league on offense (maybe Detroit finishes ahead).
He’s a great player but not a great need.

Pretty weird how this happens to Lamar during crunch time.

"......He had one more chance to be a hero with 45 seconds left, down 23-17. But on the second play of that drive, Jackson had the ball stripped when he cocked his arm, and the Chargers recovered....."

"Sunday's game came down to the quarterback play. In the fourth quarter, the Browns' Deshaun Watson was 7-of-7 for 88 yards and a touchdown, while the Ravens' Lamar Jackson was 1-of-5 for 11 yards and an interception, which came off a deflected pass and returned 34 yards for a touchdown.
Jackson's 6.4 Total QBR in the fourth quarter was the third worst of his career.
"We just have to finish the game," Jackson said."
