To the people who had their family businesses burnt down - they tried to make an insurance claim and were told to go take a running leap...do you think they care that 93% of the protests were 'peaceful'?
That's called the media downplaying the significance to fit their own biased narrative.
That's called insurance being fuckwads and like i said the last time this was posted, that should be the real story.

The NYT was content obtained without authorization, it was against Twitter’s policy.
But props for at least being honest about not caring about them being politically motivated.

I can recall when CNN was actually fairly moderate. Holding Pelosi's flithy feet to the fire like Wolf Blitzer just did the other day on a regular basis. My how they have let Trump derangment syndrome consume them.
Whatever that means. They were constantly lying by omission. And some big stories were even faked outright.
Sure there's been a rhetorical shift though.

That's called the media downplaying the significance to fit their own biased narrative. On the contrary, the MSM covered the violence extensively. Peaceful protests get very few clicks.
Hence your availability bias and everyone else's, totally out of joint with a much broader, notably peaceful political movement.

So you can't say it was without authorization, but okay has Trump ever acknowledged they were actually his? I don't think he has? So are they violating the ill gotten information clause if they aren't his taxes, which he hasn't acknowledged so therefore not against that particular TOS because he hasn't said they are his. Social media companies are being overly cautious about election year disinformation because their ad revenues are at stake. Their carelessness and allowing disinformation to spread in 2016 put them in this predicament. I couldn't frankly care less if the people who pushed pizza pedophilia conspiracies to the breaking point four years ago get censored now, whether it's justified or not.

Technically yes but that's probably not the narrative if it's 49% and you know it.
7% is a long way from 49%. Use all the melodramatic language you want but it's pretty obvious that your perspective on the protests is shaped by a healthy intake of conservative garbage media and not the 93% reality.

I'd ask that you read my posts with the same magnifying glass you give random shit you see on twitter about the people you disagree with so that you don't make that mistake again.
Now why did i include that throwaway line, and have a response queued up, you ask. Because I knew you'd reply with it's still against their TOS which like i said i took into account but I knew you'd jump on the contradiction that wasn't there because I accounted for it, but you're an idiot. The endgame was the gag about you reading a Dem email with the fucking hubble telescope, but missing one word because you don't put the same thought into things when it won't affirm your narrative.

Yep. Republican judges have made it abundantly clear that corporations have 1st amendment rights, which are as broad as being able to dump millions of dollars into elections.
If you don’t like it, take it up with Sam Alito and Clarence Thomas.I'd like to. Citizens United is a big reason for the fecal political duopoly of the evil of two lessers in this country. It should not be censored. Government is not allowed to infringe on citizen's 1st Amendment rights, except for very few exceptions.
But that's not what happened here. What Twitter did is well within their rights, and not censorship.
With that out of the way, let's talk opinion.
I'm ambivalent on this. On one hand it does suck to an extent, even if this is ultimately a political stunt/fake news/fake outrage. There's plenty of those on twitter in general (and unfortunately we get to see them here fairly often).
On the other hand, we're dragging these social media companies to Congress, telling them to scrub fake news, not to allow interference with the election (especially considering we had a 3 year investigation confirming actual foreign interference in the previous election, through social media among other channels).
So if you put yourself in the shoes of the company for a minute, you just can't do both things.
In general, I have always preferred wider access to information. However, I do have concerns that there are people out there clearly being effective in targeting a small portion of very gullible and dumb people successfully, so it does give me pause sometimes (not talking about this particular case though, there's much more egregious examples).

1. I agree that Twitter should not autonomously take down the Tweet. That would make them a publisher, which they are not one, legally. That said, you can't have that standard for Biden and then not afford the same rights to every one else.

You're talking editorializing, not censorship. Legally they can be whatever they want to be, they're private business after all, and largely unregulated. The question is if they should keep certain advantageous legal protections if they become editors, and that's certainly debatable.
Even the notion that they're editorializing is debatable and would have to be tested in court, as they don't actually modify the user's content. That would be an interesting case.
2. You just gave a blanket answer that it's okay to censor the NYP story. You give no justification because there is none and then you spend the rest of yourself blabbering on whatever.
Sorry you have trouble with words like ambivalent. Look them up, you have internet after all.
It would cost me absolutely nothing to tell you that I agree or disagree with the measure they've taken, but I'm being honest here, and I think about the pro and cons of this quite a bit. We're not anymore at a time where somebody would publish some slander on a newspaper, and then they could be sued for libel, and go through that whole process.
Instead now we have a million things going on at any given time, everybody thinks they're a journo, and there's both a ton of bullshit flying around and plenty of customers for it. This is also largely why I don't consume it.
So this is quite a new terrain, and I'm not sure what I have such a firm position on this as I did in the past.
I used to be much more pro-information-disclosure, I admit to that. I also think these things eventually become public and known anyways (this one did regardless of what social media did or did not do). Same fate awaits the much less redacted Mueller report, for example.

But the point in the first place is that neither is worse if they're "breaking the law".
Twitter can't pick and choose. They're going to have their asses handed to them.
But they're hoping to help steal an election in the meantime.
If the president orders a murder of a foreign official, and that murder is against the law, then the president classifies everything about that murder, and someone decides to leak that information, should that leaker be prosecuted for revealing classified information?

Conservatives do not want honest, level playing fields.
They don't want neutral media.
They want ONLY media that pushes their views.
They want ONLY to get their way using any lie, any dishonest cheat they can. Power for power's sake, by any means necessary.

There's really no gray area to the QAnon shit. It's an unsubstantiated conspiracy theory that's already led to violence/threats of violence against innocent people. Movements QAnon and Pizzagate are dangerous and are what lead to fascist military coups.
It's clear that Hunter Biden had a cushy job with a Ukrainian energy company because of his dad, so imo Twitter went overboard in completely blocking the Hunter Biden story since it had enough smoke to say there might be fire, but I can't really say I blame them when their decision to leave other right wing fever dreams go unchecked ended up making said fever dreams look more credible. For over a decade, conservatives have demonstrated a willingness to peddle bad faith conspiracy theories without a shred of concern for real world implications they have or the violence said conspiracy theories might lead to. After QAnon, pizzagate, terrorist fistbump, PLANdemic, Obama is a Kenyan Muslim, etc., it's hard for me to believe the Hunter Biden story is suddenly a good faith attempt to expose wrongdoing.

One thing to keep in mind is that the whole thing is simply re-packaged "blood libel".
Once you understand that, a LOT of it makes sense, especially when you look at where it started and how it spread. It is an opportunistic re-packaging of anti-semetism, that takes advantage of the "weakened immune system" of poor critical thinkers to spread. Modern gullibles, like the poor souls trapped in the right-wing media-o-sphere are easy targets for this virus.

The only reason anyone gives a shit about either Facebook or Twitter is because many of you can't stop using those shitty platforms. If everybody wouldn't go so apeshit over them you could just stop giving them your business and capitalism would take over. You should not need government intervention in a capitalist society where the marketplace can regulate businesses based on desired outcome.
I mean if you want socialism, sure, ask for government regulation every time the market doesn't agree with you which means you don't have enough collective agreement to force the market to change directions.

socialism doesnt mean you cant have market forces dictating decision-making of firms, nor does it inherently mean the government regulates them any more.
It certainly isn't capitalism.

What that tweet fails to recognize is how much the ideological delta between Alex Jones and the White House Press Secretary/the NYPost has shrunk in the last 4 years.
The justifications for censorship will never end. That's why it's not a "slippery slope" and is just a logical conclusion.

What's untrue about what I said? Twitter and Facebook are private businesses. If you're all about capitalism then you should be happy private businesses are making their own decisions based on profitability. If you want government regulations on private businesses are you really capitalist?

Pretty simple. No need to drag socialism into the equation :lmao
Socialism doesnt mean government is involved in every business decision of private companies :lol
