Finals will be:
Argentina vs France
Third place:
Croatia vs Marocco
Remember once in the 80’s France was so disappointed after losing the semifinals, they fielded reserves for third place game. Looks incredible now.

Updated odds to win it all:
Africance 95%
Choripanes 50%
Africance is superior to Choripanes in everything. From best player, to offense to D, etc
But they do have a tendency to play down to the competition and get distracted. So Choripanes have a punchers chance.
Sunday final is denitely a must see

Pretty much every nation on earth had blood on their hands at some point in history. Contrary to popular belief, whites didn't run a monopoly of slave trade.

I understand your point Lefty. As an immigrant I've verbally bashed USA before but never resorted to something physical. And this hurts the reputation of all Moroccans especially those that are just trying to start a life in a foreign nation. Yes these are by and large trouble making youth. My friend told me he saw Moroccans online attempting to persuade fellow fans to not whistle especially during an opposing anthem.
I've learned that neutrals will be far more sympathetic to your struggle if you show them, that there was something special stolen/destroyed/raped and the best way to do that is by our behavior & success today.

"Ninety-nine percent of the population is classified as Arab/ Berber; most Algerians are considered to be of Berber descent, but only about 20% speak Berber languages."
"Attracted by the rich European sea trade through the Mediterranean following the discovery of sea routes to Americas and India, the Berbers resorted to raiding ships and coastal towns – capturing European people and selling them in the lucrative Ottoman slave markets."

Deschamps overthought this game against Morocco tbh... good that France took this game seriously but that was ugly... We need to raise our level of play by a lot to compete in this final... hopefully everybody will be healthy for the final, Konate did a good job but Fofana is no Rabiot. I would have never imagined saying that Rabiot playing at high level would be essential to win a WC :lol

Ya Argentina should gameplan neutralizing Griezmann. He is France's maestro and directly stirs the drink.
Dark horse for the Finale I have to take Dembele. Where has he been.
Everyone bashes French defense but I think it's been rather flex don't break. Confident bunch don't panic.

As Mbappe is the only one with 0 defense assignment, Dembele is receiving strict orientations to protect that right side, he overdid it against Morocco tbh but he had his hand full with Hakimi. He had the good balance imo against England and I hope this will be the case for the final. France is lucky enough to have this talent accepting to do dirty work all game long.
Now France will have defend higher against Argentina

Few players could have reached 3-World Cup victories, like Pelé. Maradona wasn’t called off for the 78’ Argentina NT, then in 82’ the team failed, in 86’ was unanimous best player and finally champion, in 90’s Germans were better and in 94’ there were doping problems.
Ronaldo Nazario didn’t play a single minute in 94’, in 98’ had some health problems for the finals and the French were also better. In 02’ he got his second World Coup, but from there on Brazil wasn’t as competitive to win another coup.
Messi missed a chance with Argentina in 14’, but maybe he could get one this 22’.
MBappé has only 23, and the chance to repeat with France, for the first time, since Pelé repeated in 58’ and 62’, though he only played 2 games in 62’ due to international injuries sustained in a game. MBappé seems the best player in the World right now, though Messi is more an efficient player rather than super flashy like the others, and may actually be better than anyone else. The French also had a very strong side, capable of multiple World Coup triumphs.
My wish is Argentina wins this one, defense is clicking, Messi playing incredibly and Álvarez increasingly unstoppable as the tourney advances. But the game vs France will be a real tough one.

only slightly. degree of difficulty difference for a direct free kick and a PK are night and day. PK is like shaq posting up drawing a triple team and a foul and then sasha pavlovic comes off the bench and takes his free throws for him and gets the points credited to him

PK conversion rate hovers around 75%, pretty much the same for NBA free throws.
This WC for example, we witnessed Spain failing to score a single penalty in a penalty shootout. Penalties are not as much of a freebie as you think, especially in elimination games.

Holy shit, I actually looked up the conversion rate of PK's in Qatar and it's down to 58% in this World Cup :wow
From an article posted 4 days ago:
A very high number of penalties have been missed in the 2022 World Cup (https://bolavip.com/en/qatar2022/Kylian-Mbappes-reaction-to-Harry-Kanes-penalty-miss-that-let-France-beat-England-20221210-0035.html). A stunning 42 percent of penalty kicks have failed to find the net in the most recent statistics available before the Quarter-Finals. The conversion rate for the 31 penalties is just 58 percent (https://bolavip.com/en/qatar2022/iran-gk-alireza-beiranvand-from-being-homeless-to-saving-cristiano-ronaldos-penalty-kick-in-a-world-cup-20221103-0007.html). It was 71 percent in the last World Cup, so this is a significant drop.
https://bolavip.com/en/qatar2022/Qatar-2022-What-percentage-of-penalty-kicks-are-scored-20221211-0035.html
Again, it's definitely tougher than it looks. Completely packed stadium, with your country on your back, elimination game. Percentages are bound to go down compared to your average league game.

thanks for confirming my analogy :lol
How so?
Football as a designated penalty taker, the nba doesn't have a designated free throw shooter (unless it's a technical) and still, the conversion rate is pretty much the same.
Logic dictates that the PK conversion rate would go down, if the player who drew the foul was the one taking the penalty.
Plus, you might want to revert to the article i've posted above, where it says PK conversion rate is down to 58% this World Cup :lol
Just admit that your take of not counting PK's unless you drew the foul yourself is stupid. It's not a big deal, man.

Holy shit, I actually looked up the conversion rate of PK's in Qatar and it's down to 58% in this World Cup :wow
From an article posted 4 days ago:
https://bolavip.com/en/qatar2022/Qatar-2022-What-percentage-of-penalty-kicks-are-scored-20221211-0035.html
Again, it's definitely tougher than it looks. Completely packed stadium, with your country on your back, elimination game. Percentages are bound to go down compared to your average league game.
All those factors are the same as the last World Cup, tbh... I think the difference now is that teams have much more information about tendencies, etc.
Also, this World Cup being in the middle of soccer season, plenty of players pretty tired, and all these shootouts happen after extended time.

How so?
Football as a designated penalty taker, the nba doesn't have a designated free throw shooter and still, the conversion rate is pretty much the same.
It's not a big deal, man.
you've basically proven that these designated PK takers are getting goals for converting a shot at the same rate as an average NBA free throw shooter. they're expected to score them and thats despite whether or not they're the player who earned them.
and how about a longer sample size than just this year's WC? how about more historical figures? if you go back to 1978, they're closer to 80% (i literally googled "world cup penalty conversion rate and this was the first article with historical data... https://theanalyst.com/na/2022/12/world-cup-penalty-shootouts-the-facts/)
and nah, my take is fine. players A/B/C create a viable scoring opportunity (or lets be real, get the ball into the box and then fall down grabbing their knee), and then player D comes in and makes a FT and he gets the credit for the goal on the leaderboards. i find that to be pretty stupid personally. ymmv

I think only “designated” penalty kicker achieves 80% over time, someone like Ronaldo even 90%. But when it goes down to series of PK’s that’s much less and it hugely depends on the goal keeper too. My impression is technically superior team always win the penalty kick series.
Technical team is supposed to send a spy to trainings, and have checked where every players tends to kick the penalties, with the information available for the goal keeper.

Honestly, all I'm worried about is containing Mbappé & Griezmann... Antoine is the closest to Messi in terms of his cerebral play and influence on his team. Argentina has conceded a HUGE amount of goals, relative to their rivals' opportunities. If that's the case against France we're toast because, although they may not dazzle you when you watch them play (even looking lackluster at times), they stab you at the first opportunity, and kill you off with their blazing speed and surgical precision when you're forced to give them space to operate. We can't afford to make any mistakes if we're to win.

Total neutral here maybe I lean a bit more towards Europe than others just because the PL and its fat TV contract in the US.
But Im hoping for Argentina.
All in.
And I got club players on both teams.
Also I have no idea who will win.
I think France with all its injuries has done a fantastic job at bringing in fresh faces who can do the job
And the older players have meshed well with the newer faces.

France as rhey are rhe most complete team and have experience
But Messi has that fire in him, in this WC, he knows it’s probably his last chance to win it, he’s gonna have a great final.
Argentina is playing well as a team, it’s gonna be interesting to see if their fullbacks will make runs or stay back, they could take risks offensively and they must, but that will expose them to Mbappe’s turbo counter attacks

Netherlands in an elimination game isn’t something I would call lucky bracket. And Croatia didn’t lose a game till the semi-finals. Also, Brazil was supposed to pass there. Croatia was the finalist in 18’, probably not so easy game.
Neither think France made it to finals by pure luck, they are certainly good plus have the best Worlds player at this moment.

Bias and ignorance are not a good combination.
In the first game against the Saudis, we played bad and STILL shouldn't have lost. It'd take 100 tries at the same chances they had for the Saudis to score twice like they did in that game. Both other group opponents we beat soundly.
Australia wasn't a particularly strong opponent, but France faced Poland, Brazil met South Korea, England faced Senegal, Portugal faced Switzerland... it's par for the course.
The Dutch in the quarterfinals were neither the strongest nor the weakest opponent, but we were UNLUCKY against them and not the other way around. That game should have NEVER reached the penalties, if you happened to watch it. Played better, the Dutch miraculously tied past the ridiculous 10th minute of stoppage time, and stomped over them in extra time.
In the semis we faced previous WC runner up and returning semifinalist Croatia. We weren't any luckier than Brazil, it's just that we actually beat them soundly when they couldn't. France faced Morocco. I'd say it's about even.
So all in all, we didn't have a significantly more favorable draw than just about any team, we just happened to do what we were supposed to where others didn't. Not our fault.

France still has their 2 best players at full strength, much better than, for instance, Argentina had in 1990 when Maradona was at 30% and Caniggia was suspended for the finals, along with a depleted and worn out team. Or Brazil did in '98 when their best player was sleepwalking through the court for the entire match because he was having seizures hours before the match. Don't remember that stopping the French from celebrating their victory.
Benzema is out by choice, your problem. Only Pogba and Kante are real misses, and no team is ever 100%. And now we're supposed to feel simpathy for a couple of players sneezing a few times a week before the match? :lol nah. You're in better shape than Argentina was in either final we lost to Germany. This is a possible France team for the final:
Lloris; Koundé, Varane, Upamecano / Konaté, Theo Hernández; Tchouaméni, Fofana; Dembélé, Griezmann, Mbappé; y Giroud.
Other than Benzema (who is in France's list of players and supposedly physically, so if he doesn't play it's by choice), I don't think that's far off from their best team. Even the replacements of the players out have done a fantastic job (like Tchouameni and Giroud), that's a super talented lineup, so I'm not buying into the whole "France is depleted" argument.

The final still has to be played tomorrow. It’s football, nobody knows the outcome. Then people may talk this or that. Some luck is definitely necessary to win it all, since no team is completely dominant.
And in the end there are always some problems with the roster, for every team.

Argentina is so aggressive and sharp.
France cannot thug this out. I understand the idea to get out of the half.
They need to match Argentina’s game.
One score from France early 2nd half and game on.

Terrible defensive play by Dembélé in the penalty, no way a back gets past like that and challenges without even watching where the ball is.

Enzo Fernández with a yellow, wondering if will get substituted. Another yellow will leave Argentina with 10.

Messi has been absolutely outstanding imo.
And he is actually playing some defense as well.
His belief in Alvarez is very important in opening up the game.
DeMaria was also very good way out wide.

He is difficult to corral so he plays that game. It’s essential to get a body on him as he is super quick in small areas. This game Anyways.

If this break gives him legs he is in great shape for a 35/ yo.
