Walker was mostly wide open the whole game. You can't pass up those shots. You can't do shit when shaq is drawing three defenders. If walker makes those shots, that's the ball game
Ok, you're right. But 7-19 looks even worse when you figure they're leaving him open.

....and Dallas didn't really play that great.
In reality, Miami shouldn't have a real chance in this series.
Too deep. Too many weapons.
But god help me if I have to watch Cuban hoist a trophy.

I'm pissed because this board has been overrun by Mav fans and everytime we ask why they are here they never tell the truth which is "to rub it in your face"
Hey..some of us aren't here to rub it in your face but to talk basketball. Even if the Mavs had lost to the Spurs I would still be here talking about the finals. Some of us are just fans of basketball..

Man..Shaq really needs to work on his free throws. Wade was awesome but also made some dumb mistakes throughout the game. None of the Heat were very aggressive at all...hence no-free throws. I forgot how much I hated watching Walker play-I'm just happy he's on the other side.

90-80? Boy I'm glad the Spurs left so the country could get a really offensive series. The Heat are a joke. Nobody on the team can hit a free throw and 'Toine has no idea what he's doing. 1-9 from the line for Shaq? He's a disgrace.
We were about 25 seconds away from being the best team in the NBA again. This blows.

Man...if the Heat can only average 80 points a game then this is going to be a short series. Looking at the box score Wade had a worse game than I originally thought. He looked pretty dominant on the court but would up with 28 points on 44% shooting, 60% on the line, and 5 turnovers.

Dirk and Josh will bounce back...Wade and Shaq pretty much played like they were supposed to(though Dallas did do a good job on Shaq from getting the boards). Watching this game, I'm pretty convinced Dallas is the better team(so are the Spurs- I think San Antonio and Dallas are the two best teams this yr which is really unfortunate that we met up in the 2nd round) and if they can't win when Dirk and Josh play horribly..I don't see how the Heat are going to win more than 2 games the rest of the series. you should be rolling your eyes at this comment, four players in double digits, jho and dirk with over 10+ rebounds apiece, we're looking good...the problem is the media hyped the two superstars on the heat team and forgot to anlayze the team as a whole...the two *stars* got their points (although shaq's ft's, ugh) but the rest of the team disappeared after the first quarter

Riley's gonna make adjustments like all HOF coaches should do. Wade will continue to play out of his mind. Shaq will be just as dominant. Haslem won't be called for fouls for breathing on someone. Williams and Walker will supply good roles to win game 2. Bench production will have Posey come in and make some good shots and spread the floor, Payton will produce better defensively.
In the end, Wade will dominate and so will Shaq, and Dallas can't stop them. Poor Miami FT shooting can, though. That's the reason of the loss. If they made 10 of those missed FT's, the game would have been theres. FT shooting loses aren't unfamiliar for Spurs fans either.
Miami should have confidence and be happy with a split with a game 2 win and carry the momentum in Miami for 3 and 4. If they can take down the juggernaut Pistons in 6, they can take down the Mavericks. Heat fans will be just as rowdy and loud as the Dallas fans were, except they don't have a childish owner.
Drbio
06-08-2006, 11:29 PM
Consider, after their ridiculous 70%FG 31PT 1st quarter, Miami only scored 49 points the rest of the way....about 16 points per quarter.
Defense wins championships. And Dallas starts with D.
Sure Riley will make adjustments but they still have to play a very solid Mavericks defense. With as poorly as Dirk and Howard played offensively (although both were good elsewhere) and knowing that both have rebounded from performance like this all season I would not feel very confident if I were a heat fan. I still say Mavs in 6 but miami has one foot in the grave.

Sorry but we all know both teams played poor. Face it the Mavs are the better team....Dirk/Howard/stack all had poor games. Don't expect all 3 to have off games. In addition, Harris/KVH/Daniels did nothing. Howard by far was playing like a dumbass....turning the ball over.....bricking wide open jumpers. Just can't see the Heat beating the Mavs 4 time regardless if they win Game 2 or not.

Dallas got owned on the board, this was the first game all playoffs to be outrebounded. Showed really how bad they played, Dwade had like 3 offensive rebound within 10 seconds of each other. It would of been cool if Dallas outrebounded the other team in every game, has that ever been done before?

Not so fast my friend. Take one game at a time and not get cocky. Dirk/Howard and Stack all have to play better. They will try and slow down Terry. If the Mavs win Game 2 then things look better....still though not going to count the heat out until the final horn has sounded and the Mavs have won 4 games.

Maybe because Kori runs a good board that everyone wants to be a part of. If you don't want to read Mav comments, then don't.
Mavs looked awesome last night. I don't know how you guard them. Go zone and they kill you with the open three. Cover them one-on-one, and they can blow right by you.
Mavs have more weapons, and are better from the FT line. I'm sure the Heat will pick up one or two games in Miami, but this series is done.

Well, I'll take it. But I think this game was more of an aberration than an indicator of how the rest of this series will play out. I think that both teams can and will play much better before this series is over.
And, as much as I like Dirk- he showed why you'll never see me posting that he is Hall of Fame caliber- at least not yet.

Jason Terry hit several clutch shots including the back-to-back three's that gave them the sizable 10 point lead. Missing that lay-up off the steal was embarassing, though.
Eric Dampier, IMO, had a solid game as he was able to keep Shaq at bay for most of the night and hit 3-4 shots. Adrian Griffin was also effective defensively and hit his open jumpers. Howard may not have shot well, but he was a stud on the boards.

What? Give me a break. The Heat will be lucky to beat the Mavericks twice, let alone 4 times out of 7! Everyone talks about Shaq, he is averaging freaking 20 pts a game and 10 rebounds,(17 and 7) exactly what he averaged in the regular season. Wade will give us some problems but the Mavs will keep him out shooting 18 foot jumpshots or dishing to walker/williams which is easily advantage MAVS. This is how it will play out. Mavs/Heat starters will play close, 4 or 5 points either way. Once the second team for the Mavs comes in, (Harris,Stack,Daniels,Center) they will eat the Heat's second team alive and proceed to make a lead a blowout. Riley will be forced to keep either Wade or Shaq on the floor at all times, which equals more time for Shaq to draw another foul or Wade to be worn down come the 4th quarter. Miami has zero options, flexibility or versatility. NONE. If Shaq,Wade or their role players are off for even a quarter, they're cooked because they can't hang with the Mavs offense, period. And I guess no one seems to notice that Shaq is a freaking 50% free throw shooter along with Walker's 65%. In big games, those FT's are magnafied and this will also lead to their undoing. Duncan shot VERY well from the FT line, Shaq will be lucky to shoot 60%.
Mavs in 6 only because the Heat will be playing 3 at home in a row. They are bound to win games 3 (down 0-2) and game 5 (down 1-3) since desperation and home cooking refs kicks in. But if JT is clicking with his jumper and Harris with his penetration, the fuckin Heat will get swept.
:fro
Damn, I'm good. Look for a blowout of the Heat in game 2 since the Mavs will play MUCH better on the Offensive end once Dirk gets comfortable with his defenders and Avery makes their adjustments. Heat can't play any better than the 1st quarter and if Dirk doesn't make that bonehead inbounds play where Walker hits the 3, they are only up 5 or less going into the 2nd. 24-2 bench points, look for that to continue. Heat perimeter defense is freaking terrible, slow and mismatched, look for that to get worse. Pat Riley's adjustments? Doesn't have any, except to play Derek or Shandon Anderson, 2 more streaky shooters. Aj's adjustments? Too many to list...Ballgame.

Miami is not as good as either Phoenix or San Antonio. I felt like even at the beginning of the game as soon as the mavs got their shit together they would steamroll the Heat. The matchups are bad for the Heat. The suns actually scared me but after we beat them things would get easier. Josh Howard is not effective if he can't hit that outside jumper. Dirk will figure out how to score on Haslem.

Well after we win this year and resign Terry, we will then repeat, three peat and then if the core stays in tact (which it will thanks to a GREAT owner in cuban) more titles on the way. No it wont be easy but this team will be a DYNASTY as long as health, chemistry, and players all stay in tact!! :elephant :elephant :elephant :elephant :elephant
I can appreciate the enthusiasm (although I'm so sick of those pink elephants!!!) and I think the Mavs can win this one and have a great shot at another one the next couple of years but there are so many *ifs* for any team trying to win a championship that it's silly when you hear everyone talk about who will get the next one. Chemistry and players are easier to figure out than health, which is a huge factor down the stretch and can change the course of a run in one game. Also, the West is full of good teams and next year I expect the Rockets back with a healthy T-Mac, Amare to be back, Spurs to be back and in the same or better shape after some tweaking, Pistons to be back with some bench, not to mention all the other very good teams. I'm just focused on this year, too many variables to consider for next year. The only thing that is certain is that the Mavericks will be one of many viable teams for the championship next year if they stick together and stay healthy.

Well, for what it's worth, the NBA ran ads during the playoffs that described a history of dynasties and the video underneath that statement was video of Tim Duncan. If the NBA's advertisements call the Tim Duncan Spurs a dynasty, that's good enough for me.

Funny stuff!
Gonna be interesting to see if Avery goes with any hack-a-Shaq defense in this series. After the way Shaq shot free throws in the 1st game I'm guessing that he does at certain points in the 4th quarters.
On a side note, I'm curious as to how long it will take for the national media to realize that the Mavs actually play damn good defense late in games to win now. The Mavs defense sucked for so long that these people that don't see them regularly can watch it happen in front of their eyes and then write that it had to be the other team failing. In game 6 vs. Phoenix, the national media said it was the Suns being tired, not the awesome D that the Mavs played the last quarter & a half. In game 1 vs. the Heat, it was that the Heat missed shots in the 4th quarter, not the D the Mavs played to hold them to 12 pts. Hell, game 1 vs. the Heat was like many of the regular season wins that the Mavs had. They always start out playing crappy defense and then come the 4th quarter they kick it into high gear and shut down the other team to win. Most of the NBA "experts" know it but it's just funny that the midstream national media can't see it. The Spurs were the only team that the Mavs really couldn't do that to cuz the Spurs are that good. The Suns & Heat aren't anywhere close to being as good as the Spurs were and anyone that thinks differently is friggin clueless. The only way the Mavs lose to the Heat is if 1-2 of their main guys get hurt.

I'm feeling really lucky right now, mavs played one of their worst games of the season and still somehow get the win.I feel lucky too. I'll take the win, that's for sure, but I'm a bit worried about this 2-3-2 format. If Dallas loses tonight, Miami will have all the momentum going back home for 3 straight in South Beach. Dallas would have to win 2 out of 3 there to prevent going down 3-2 in the series. Though definitely possible, it would not be easy. Should Dallas go down 3-2, that would be a very difficult task to overcome even if games 6 and 7 are in Dallas.
Basically, Dallas needs to win tonight. On the same token, Miami needs to win tonight too. They can not afford to be down 0-2 when games 6 and 7 are in Dallas. Game 2 might very well be the deciding factor on who wins the series.

Too bad Manu fouled Dirk on that fucking layup...this would have been an easy finals series for the Spurs, and next year would be the threepeat.
Fuck.

Make a point about the game or beat it.
u want me to make a point? ill make a point the heat are no match for the mavs all we have to do is have good ball movement and attack the rim, stay aggressive and this series is good as over.

Damn the Heat have reverted back to playing like shit. They are getting the looks but just can't hit the open shots. Why oh why can't we be playing them? Now way in hell the Mavs are losing this series.

Dallas is just the much better team. Miami just ran into a Piston team playing like garbage from top to bottom outside of Tayshaun Prince. There is a reason they were something like 2-10 against top-5 teams during the regular season.

Dampier has really done a great job on Shaq tonight...Stacks been amazing and we've shut down Wade for the most part. Too many turnovers but hopefully we can limit those in the 2nd half. Maybe boring to you Spurs fans but to us it's a dream. Too bad the semi's weren't the Finals. Would have been great ratings for sure.

I agree, and i hate to say it here cuz i know most of you guys want the Heat to win, but the Pistons really just made the Heat look alot better than they are.
