Why don't they post up Manu on Barbosa?

The Spurs aren't smart enough to take advantage of mismatches. I mean they put Iverson on Ginobili and Finley in the first round and Popovich never once thought to post him up. Don't see why it would suddenly dawn on him here.

Did anyone expect the Suns to come out cold in the 1st half of game 1? The Spurs just need to stick close and then lock them down and take this one in the 4th. The Suns are making some tough shots just like Denver did, but fatigue will make those shots go off line later in the game. Spurs need to pound the paint more to create the double teams on TD.

Tony is the ONLY one gettin to the rim. Manu needs to wake the freak up, and I'm sure he will in the 2nd. Tim needs to think his attack on the hole through better.

Overall, poor half but I'm glad we're still in touch.

Aren't we all entitled to a homer call on occasion? Damn.

No, because he called me a "homer" for saying Barbosa was superior and he tried to produce stats to back up his terrible opinion. If he just said he was being a homer, then I would have been ok with it. In fact, he claimed every team/coach in the NBA would want to have Manu over Barbosa. Don't protect him just because he's Mr. Kori - he can be just as whiny and incorrect as anyone.

OK, what needs to happen this upcoming half?

Better D all around - no more leaving people (especially Barbosa) open on the perimeter.

Finishing at the rim would be loverly.

Can the turnovers, particularly the amazingly bad passes.

Manu needs to man up and drive in. Let's get Finley and others more involved.

RuffnReadyOzStyle

Actually, every team/coach in the NBA would want Manu over Baboso. Doesn't change the fact that Baboso deserved 6th man.

Not too bad of a half. Spurs aren't even playing their best defense, I think they are saving it and their energy for the fourth quarter. The only reason we aren't up is because of turnovers.

Okay, here are my observations in looking at the stat box:

1. Tony is having his way, which is important;
2. Duncan has no fouls, which is incredible;
3. Amare getting awfully close to serious foul trouble;
4. Because of the above three points, the Spurs really don't want to lose this game. They must find a way to get the job done in the second half.
