Eh, I'm bored at work. So I like to pass the time by having discussions with other people on basketball. Not really sure how this makes me pathetic.

What the fuck has your team ever done worth noting? They are nowhere near the level of the top 3 teams in the legaue, being the Suns, Spurs and Mavs. They are kind of a joke to those teams that lucked out and missed the Mavs. You along with the Spurs fans in this thread are the dumbest fucking sports fans I have ever come across. Unfortunately it will make me leave this board because you all are so damn clueless.

The Suns are the best damn team the Spurs faced all year, and they struggled most with them, but played best and won. The Jazz aren't very good, lucked out to get there and were run over. The Suns are far superior to them, and the Spurs superior to the Suns, FOR NOW. I accept the Suns lost the series, and always have, regardless of anything, they lost 4 times, but some of you fans are so damn idiotic you believe the Spurs should have swept them. Get over yourselves, and take a few minutes to learn sports, because most of you are the sumbest bitches there are.

I finally believe the fans on the Suns board are far and away more knowledgable fans, because there cannot be any dumber than you all.
Why in the hell is everyone doing arguing with these absolute morons! The Suns are like one of those kids that are pampered like hell by their parents so they feel they are entitled to EVERYTHING. The media has been telling them they are pretty, and they've somehow missunderstood that to mean great.

YOUR SUNS GOT OWNED BITCH!! GET THE FUCK OVER IT!

Unfortunately it will make me leave this board because you all are so damn clueless.
is that a fucking promise??

Boris Diaw fucking sucked this year. Last year was his only good year, and he wouldn't see the floor on the Jazz. I'd rather have Jarron Collins on the floor than Diaw. Remember all that bitching about the suspensions? Diaw came back and scored 1 point. Saweet.

Barbosa is good. But obviously, your rotation blows. James Jones wouldn't see the floor on the Jazz. TWO bench players doesn't make you deep. That makes you 7-deep. Which sucks. The Jazz' 2nd unit is Fisher, Gordan Giricek, Matt Harpring, Paul Millsap, and Jarron Collins. Giricek & Harpring >>>>>> Jones & Rose. Not to mention we have Brewer (uber-athletic and energetic) Dee Brown (ditto) and CJ Miles (Young, young shooter). Marcus Banks and Pat Burke? Oh wait, I shouldn't mention these names because apparently your 'bench' is Barbosa and Diaw. That's it. That makes you deep? And deeper than the Jazz? Pah-lease.

Please don't tell me that smallball is going to win a championship in this era. If you think that, you're lying to yourself.

You got me. The Jazz 10 and 11 guys are better than the Sun's 10 and 11 guys. Considering we only run eight deep (which was never a problem until the suspensions) that's all that really matters. Guys like Jalen Rose and Marcus Banks who start on other teams don't see a lick of playing time over here. If you put our sixth guy (Barbosa) on Utah, he'd be their third best player. That's the talent discrepancy right there.

And once again, the Suns didn't play small ball against San Antonio. Fast break offense has proven it can win championships against
great defensive teams. If anything it's easier to win with a fast break style in this era because of the new rules that are more conduscive to offense.

Oh. Kudos on not starting a new thread. There's premature ejaculators everywhere. Some of us learned our lesson concerning that a long time ago. I got rudely surprised by the Lakers a couple of times.

That said, the Cavs are not as good as anyone the Spurs have faced so far, and it's not like anyone has pushed them particularly hard. If the Spurs find a way to lose this series it's a monumental choke. Fortunately it'll only be the second biggest choke of this year's playoffs.

Exactly - hell, I pulled the pre-jac on the '04 Lakers series before .4 became the new shot heard 'round the world.

And you're right, it would be a monumental choke, but nothing worse than the Mavs/Warriors especially since they were on such a "mission"

Btw, does anyone else just chuckle whenever the read/see/hear that CLEVELAND is in the Finals? I mean... THAT team?? Anderson Varejao? Damon Jones?

Barbosa played like shit against the Spurs. He is a good player, but if he is well defended, he gets frustrated and sucks donkey's ass.

Manu should've been the 6th man of the year.

Stockton is in no way much much better. How many MVP's does he have again? He's better, but not all that much as you say.
Isn't Stockton the all time leader in assists and steals? Didn't he make the finals twice? I'm sorry, how is Nash better? Two MVP trophies? What else?

I'd take the Jazz' top 8 over yours too. That doesn't change anything. I was just showing how much deeper than you we are. If you were a deep team, you wouldn't have an 8 man rotation, would you? Marcus Banks started where, the PG-less Celtics before he was a waste of space? Oh wait, no he rode the bench there, too. In Minnesota he started sporadically, not full-time. Jalen Rose hasn't been a full-time starter since Toronto before he went to NY.

And I'd rather have AK (when he's playing) and Okur than Barbosa. They've both been All-Stars. Barbosa is good, but you're overrating him. And let's face it, he's not YOUR sixth best player, either. He's just the 2nd best at his position. Don't try and shield that because he comes off the bench. Is Manu the sixth best player on the Spurs? Why is HE in the Big 3 and not Oberto? Moron.

And sure, fastbreak teams have won before, but that's sure not your case, is it? And if it's easier for them to win, then the Suns suck even more than I thought.

The fact is, fastbreak teams aren't winning championships, are they? NO! It doesn't matter if it's easier for them to do it, they still AREN'T.

You will be eating it soon enough, but course, when that time comes, you will be nowhere to be found, so enjoy the asterisk on 2 of your 4 titles, thats the reason your team cannot get any national respect. You will see titles very very soon from the Suns, let's see if you are man enough to eat crow then.

1. My favorite team is the Pacers. (Talk about not sniffing a title for at least another decade or so.)

2. The Spurs are almost universally respected in Indiana, becuase the Spurs play basketball, not street ball.

3. The entire "asterisk to the title" argument is incredibly illogical and petty. Who were the Spurs supposed to play? "Gee, bring back the 1992 Dream Team, because the ECF winner just isn't challenging enough." It's not the Spurs' fault that the 2003 Nets were as weak as green tea. I strongly suspect that many people will end up suggesting that the Cavaliers weren't "real" opponents before this is all over.

4. The only way that the Suns ever win a title with this configuration is if the league continues to alter the rules/rules interpretations in their favor. Period. The Suns only became a premiere [sic] team after the league outlawed perimeter defense. Anyone who cannot see the correlation does not understand NBA basketball.

Phoenix won't ever win a championship with their style of basketball because

1) Their coach sucks. D'Antoni might have been the hot shit in Italy but that Euro ball garbage doesn't cut it in the NBA. Mikey shares more similarities with Flip Saunders than he does with any championship calibre coach.

2) Defense wins championships:

Rank in EFG% of every NBA champion since the ABA/NBA merger in 76-77:

05-06: Miami 10th
04-05: San Antonio 1st
03-04: Detroit 2nd
02-03: San Antonio 2nd
01-02: LA Lakers 2nd
00-01: LA Lakers 13th
99-00: LA Lakers 1st
98-99: San Antonio 1st
97-98: Chicago 5th
96-97: Chicago 3rd
95-96: Chicago 6th
94-95: Houston 7th
93-94: Houston 3rd
92-93: Chicago 15th
91-92: Chicago 9th
90-91: Chicago 13th
89-90: Detroit 1st
88-89: Detroit 2nd
87-88: LA Lakers 9th
86-87: LA Lakers 6th
85-86: Boston 1st
84-85: LA Lakers 5th
83-84: Boston 2nd
82-83: Philadelphia 4th
81-82: LA Lakers 10th
80-81: Boston 3rd
79-80: LA Lakers 7th
78-79: Seattle 1st
77-78: Washington 10th
76-77: Portland 7th

Average Rank: 5.4

Phoenix ranked 12th this year in EFG%. So in the last 30 years, only three teams have finished the year with a worse EFG% and won the title.

Twice it was the Bulls during their first 3-peat and the 00-01 Lakers who steamrolled through the Playoffs, losing only one game.

Spurs are ranked 2nd in EFG% this year while the Cavs are ranked 3rd. Interestingly enough both teams are in the Finals.

Once Dallas gets over their choking problem and Utah finally gets a reliable SG I can see them having a better shot at the championship next year than the Suns.

This was despite Phil Jackson lobbying. What makes you think a troupe of pathetic Suns and Cavs trolls have a chance? And you are probably stupid enough not to realzie you are conceding we are going to win.

I'll repeat it again for all you optimistic Suns fans that actually think you have a shot at the title:

Phoenix won't ever win a championship because:

1) Their coach sucks. D'Antoni might have been the hot shit in Italy but that Euro ball garbage doesn't cut it in the NBA. Mikey shares more similarities with Flip Saunders than he does with any championship calibre coach.

2)The worst MVP winner in the last few decades is the leader of their team.

3) Defense wins championships:

Rank in EFG% of every NBA champion since the ABA/NBA merger in 76-77:

05-06: Miami 10th
04-05: San Antonio 1st
03-04: Detroit 2nd
02-03: San Antonio 2nd
01-02: LA Lakers 2nd
00-01: LA Lakers 13th
99-00: LA Lakers 1st
98-99: San Antonio 1st
97-98: Chicago 5th
96-97: Chicago 3rd
95-96: Chicago 6th
94-95: Houston 7th
93-94: Houston 3rd
92-93: Chicago 15th
91-92: Chicago 9th
90-91: Chicago 13th

The Suns defense is more comparable to teams like the Nets and Raptors than to the likes of the Spurs, Pistons, Mavs, Cavs, Bulls, etc. Phoenix is quite fortunate to have received the Lakers in the first round(one of the worst defensive teams in the league). If they had played the Nuggets instead I'd give Denver a fair shot at knocking them out.

Once Dallas gets over their choking problem and Utah finally gets a reliable SG I can see them having a better shot at the championship next year than the Suns who will forever be a regular season team.

You are right, but no way in hell would the Jazz have even won 2 against the Suns when things really mattered. The Jazz themselves would have been shocked to get a game 6 against the Suns had they played. And 2 of those wins were within the first 10 games, when the Suns looked like the worst team in the league, it's like trying to act tough when beating the Mavs during the 0-4 start.

The Jazz are better than the Suns. No argument necessary. I will repeat:

The Jazz are better than the Suns.

And next season, that gap will widen. Eat some of that Suns fan. Then shine my shoes.

I love asterisks. It's so much better to remember championship celebrations, even if asterisk-marred, than to spend all of life trying to find justifications for arguing that a team that has never won a title is in that predicament solely because they've been screwed over by higher powers -- damn, that must be REALLY frustrating to go through that year-after-year.

The greatest thing about an asterisk-afflicted championship (aside from hearing the whining fans of losing teams complain about them) is that they are, after all, still championships.

Is English your second language too? The inferiority complex stems from America's lack of respect for the Spur's accomplishments. Right or wrong it is a prevalent attitude among more than just the casual fan. Spurs fans want desperately to be respected to the point that they overreact to any insinuation that they might just be a bit undeserving. However, if you lose one of the first two at home, you may end up like the famous cartoon from New Yorker Magazine where the patient on his psychiatrist's couch, looks up and says to the doctor, "I don't have an insecurity complex, I am inferior".

Another lie. What you describe above is after the Horry foul. The game was over as soon as Nash got two shots and the ball. Since Horry basically said the reason he fouled Nash was because if Nash got by him the game was over, I'm not sure why you are so sure Horry thought the game was over.

BTW, easjer: There was no inbounds on that play, the Spurs missed a shot. And Finley never made contact. That's why it made sense that Horry was worried about Nash getting past him.

I'll have to go and check, but I think she is right about Fin fouling and it not being called. That was why I thought Horry gave the hard foul.

An inferiority complex actually stems from a lack of confidence and is either displayed in overaggresive behavior or conflict avoidance. You would fit into the former category.

Inferiority complex - A persistent sense of inadequacy or a tendency to self-diminishment, sometimes resulting in excessive aggressiveness through overcompensation.

That's you to a tee

Oh, we long since gave up interest in national respect. The casual fan doesn't like the Spurs for the same reason that 4-year-olds like Kool-Aid better than Bordeaux. Some hardcore fans denigrate the Spurs because of the predominance of foreign players on the team. Other denizens of the game feel that personality and individual expression are supposed to be as much a part of the game as rebounding and passing, so they don't much like the Spurs either.

So the Spurs are left as the team of basketball geeks, and of foreign countries. That's fine.

Of course, Suns fans would love to convince themselves that America will forever hate the Spurs because Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw jumped off the bench. Well, America was irritated that the Suns lost for a bit the same way some people get upset when the pretty girl who can't necessarily sing that well gets voted off American Idol. But nobody cares anymore. America is unlikely to sustain enough interest in the Spurs to dislike them for any length of time.

San Antonio itself has an inferiority complex because it is considered poorer and less sophisticated than other major cities in Texas, and so its citizens tend to overreact to perceived slights. This is different from the Phoenix inferiority complex, in which everybody wishes they were from Los Angeles.

Luckily, I'm sufficiently arrogant that I don't have to worry about inferiority complexes. I just figure that the Spurs are an acquired taste.

Spurs are overly defensive. No question about that. That is one you got right after 343 posts

Suns, OTOH, do not practice defense.

That is why Spurs have three titles and Suns have nada/cero/zilch.

That is why Spurs Fan are happy people and Suns fans, for the most part, are whinny bitches.

Not really. Spur Funs are simply annoyed by retards such as Shred and yourself.

Horseshit. Nash and D'Antoni would have curled up in a ball and started crying in game one, when you REALLY ran into a team that takes a hard foul about every two minutes on the game clock. Utah would have OWNED.

Here's honesty:

I do not live in San Antonio, i'm a college student at UT knoxville and i've been a spurs fan my entire life. A feeling of inferiority was only present when the spurs either lost to the Rockets, or Jazz in the playoffs, before Duncan. It's been 10 years and you're going to be hard pressed to find any spurs fan with a feeling of inferiority, especially to a suns fan. Youre barking up the wrong tree. :reading

At least that's something Spurs and Suns fans can agree on.

And for the record, the Spurs were the better team than Phoenix and despite the suspensions we had our chances and couldn't capitalize. This stems from our borderline autistic center and our whiny little bitch of a head coach. Glad to see Nash and Sarver trying to infuse some sack into this team.

That was a good post. You hit the nail on the head and I can respect that.

Jazz would have taken the Suns in 6. Phoenix never was and never will be a championship calibre team. They're nothing more than a gimmick that relies on the media to win their battle(Nash stealing his two MVPs from superior players)

I will say those 3 and a couple others are above him, but sure as hell not 10 above him. But like I said, I won;t argue this, its been done before, and too many idiots throw a name like Kidd in there when he is nowhere near Nash, tust me, I know, I watched him too.
These player have more assists than Nash (he has 5,890):
1. John Stockton 15,806
2. Mark Jackson 10,334
3. Magic Johnson 10,141
4. Oscar Robertson 9,887
5. Isiah Thomas 9,061
6. GARY PAYTON 8,966
7. JASON KIDD 8,691
8. Rod Strickland 7,987
9. Maurice Cheeks 7,392
10. Len Wilkens 7,211
11. Terry Porter 7,160
12. Tim Hardaway 7,095
13. Bob Cousy 6,955
14. Guy Rodgers 6,917
15. Muggsy Bogues 6,726

Of course assists don't make the total point guard, they are a huge part of it though and he isn't even top 15, that is with all those years in Dallas' high octane offense.

I think that Kidd has had the better overall career than Nash, but right now I'll take Nash. This could change if Nash can somehow keep up these stats, although with his bad back I'm not sure how much more he has left in the tank.

You all conveniently forget about little bitch Bowen and his cheapshots, but of course you all would forget about that, because you want to blame everyone else and think the Spurs do no wrong. But saying the altercation was caused by anyone but someone on the Spurs is just idiotic, the Spurs were starting so much all series that anyone, and I mean ANYONE in that situation would react like that.

Your team is soft. We will head butt, kick your groin, and knock your little sissy PG into the scorer's table to get what we want. Your soft team got in the way and got punched in the face. Bow down to the Dirty Spurs, punk.
