So you have no piont whatsoever. Understood.
Scola has been improving without a doubt. Again, this is the "Scola thread"; not the "Rockets thread". Why bring up records?
Scola's increased scoring hasn't resulted in any victories.
Let me know if you need help on anything else you are too stupid to figure out.
But he is increasing in scoring. Again we're not looking at the victories. We all know the Rockets are going to be in the playoffs, so why bother arguing regular season records?

Looks like you've run out of things to say, so goodbye.

Because the person I was quoting was talking about the offseason so I decided to talk about the offseason as well. You did get those guys this offseason, right?
So why are we discussing anything ever?

Just let Spur fan of Amerika know. To help feel better over stupid Scola trade and gives money instead to crap like Bonner. I have talk to Billy again and ask him things. He say this, "I think I not come to NBA again after see how coach act and can not live in Amerika under same situation."
I ask him think mean maybe or no and he say "I have been watch every game of Rockets and see how Scola now play after given chance to adjust by coach, chance I never give by Van Gundy and in Euroleague I am consider better talent prospect than Scola because my agent get non stop the offers from teams like Real, Barcelona, Olympiakos, CSKA, TAU and coaches say I am most wanted point guard but these team know they can never get me because they not of quality of Panathinaikos. Real have made offer of highest paid player in Europe but they can not get me because my standard is set to only Spurs or Greens."
I ask him if he join Spurs. He say, "like I say I think I not return to NBA but I will not say for sure, I tell you for sure I watch all Rockets games to start to see how Scola perform given chance to know for sure to compare if he can play for same team I was on if just give chance then I know I can also be good NBA player if not treated wrong by coach so now I know this I need watch Rocket game no more. But I watch all Spur games and will for all year."
I ask he watch any other NBA team and he tell me "why I need to watch any team other than Spurs? I ask him so this mean you keep watch on them to joins them?
He tell me, "every person of Greece who know what type of player such as myself belong on only two teams. In whole world only two teams that have chance to have me, Panathinaikos and Spurs." So I ask him you play for Spurs or not?
He say "I can only say that this up to me not them. They want me and of course Greens wants me but decision up to me right now I have best or second best team in world to be with."

I don't know if it's the translation, but his personality doesn't seem to fit the spurs mentality quite well. I doubt he can pass thru the 1 year adjust period every new spur must face.

So Vagisilis Spanakopitas is a talented European point guard who feels he is entitled to minutes on an NBA team and pouts when he does not get them.
Didn't the Spurs just trade away the Slovene version of him?

Spanoulis maybe a very talented guard but a bit more patience would go a long way. If a former All-Star like Steve Francis can be glued to the bench, that means almost anyone can. Agent Zero Arenas comes to mind in that it took longer for him to develop. Hermann and Nachbar didn't get thier chance for awhile but eventually made a big splash.

Hmmm. Where is Scolarules? I can't hear you. Anybody there. (Probably on his fall break from gradeschool).
I'm going to take the Argie point of view this morning:
"It's obvious the Rockets have no idea what they are doing. They must trade Luis to a team that will utilize him properly. It's obvious McGrady's presence (Tmac is such an awful player, you know) will never allow Luis to fulfull his full, immense potential. LS must be traded to the Kings or Warriors where he can have all the shots he so richly deserves."
I'm telling you. Scola is a less athletic Malik Rose. His stats will not look that great when you add up the 82 games - if McGrady and Ming play the bulk of the season. The good news for all those Scola (not necessarily Rocket) fans is that McGrady and / or Ming will get hurt for a significant number of games at some point.
Argie fan POV again:
"I can't wait for McGrady or Ming to get hurt. Then Luis can build up his PPG average and get all of the minutes he deserves. I don't really care what the Rocket's record is."

I like Scola, but I think that is totally disgraceful! Is the same reason that Scola didn't come to SAS? :rolleyes
I watched the whole Rockets game yesterday because my league pass didn't show Spurs game on time. I think Tmac' presence certainly reduced Scola's shooting chance, but Scola himself deferred several chance as well. I think Scola himself should more brave when Tmac is on the court! That is funny! In addition, coach Adleman should find a way to use Scola more efficently.

People are starting to call for Adleman's head. Unbelievable. Scola should be getting a lot more minutes. James has been atrocious. He actually gives up more points than he scores. The subtitutions and rotations are a joke. With a 5 game Rocket slide, if Adleman doens't do some lineup changes or rotation changes, look for the Rockets to make some wholesale moves at the front office. Morey is still in charge of Rockets Personnel.
90 percent of the Rockets fans still cannot understand why Steve Francis is sitting on the bench.

That's something I don't really get.The rockets backcourt sucks. They are too predectible at the perimeter since T-mac is the one and only option there.
Francis might not be in his best shape, but He can play better BB tham the scrubs who are getting the minutes right now(James and Co)
I really don't like the Rockets at all this year, they seemed to be better last year tham this year.
if they keep being too predictible as they are right now,meaning:T-mac and Yao getting the 80% of the shots, They might not even make it to the playoffs.

And exactly how do you expect him to adjust?
You expect him to get more polished?
Oh wait...you expect him to get faster....
He's not going too...and when he suddenly goes into a slump around Feb...just remember...you were told why long ago. He has no higher level to adjust too...the NBA does.

When all is said and done, it's very conceivable that Scola may end up being a very very good player. I'm guessing what gets under peoples skin is the multiple of scola threads, topics, innuendos, failed attempts at wit and derision and such. We had him, the stars didn't align and we didn't sign him irregardless of who's fault it was. Scola is no longer Spurs property or a player. Move on, because we're still Spur's fans.
I'm not a fan, though I love his game. I hate him, not personally but because he is sleeping with the enemy. Make no mistake though I would have loved to have had him on the Spurs. I am absolutely certain, about as certain as I've ever been about anything that he would have helped the Spurs. But the powers that be, rightly or wrongly didn't see it that way. The deal is done, the ink is dry and we all need to move on.

I watched the game yesterday and Scola was quite good :
- His offense in the first half was really nice. Scola plays very smart and took what the defense give to him. He was always making the right choice. His passing game was very good with two nice assists.
- In the second half, Miami let him less freedom and Scola was less effective. He started to score again at the end of the game with a couple of good moves.
- Scola didn't look lost at all and his teammates were looking at him during the whole game.
- His defense was atrocious. He did mistakes after mistakes and played no team defense. A defensive minded coach wouldn't have supported this.
- His rebounding was fine even if most of his rebounds were uncontested ones. Scola isn't a rebounding beast but he isn't a liability either.
- Scola is an average shooter. He isn't a good one and it was obvious in this game because he was playing against a good one (Haslem). The difference between both on midrange jumpshoot was flagrant.
-Scola is definitely not a good athlete by nba standard. He isn't strong, big, athletic or quick. It doesn't mean that he won't be a good nba player but he struggled a little around the rim because of that.
All in all, it was a nice game by Scola. However a lot of questions remains about his defensive abilities and about the fact that he isn't more than an opportunistic scorer.

Insults to idiot Rocket fans aside, with so little NBA experience, Scola looks pretty good to me. He has a knack for getting into the right spots, he has a good basketball IQ and he hustles. He's kind of a Malik/Oberto type guy without Oberto's size or Malik's defense. I hope he has a good pro career, and I wish the Spurs could have kept him, but the simple fact is the Spurs needed to decide between Scola and Splitter. With his size, defense and shooting, Scola wasn't going to be a great fit here.

I agree. Scola's a good scorer with crap D, the defense is the religion in San Antonio and we have better players to fill the scorer role (the Big Three)
Oberto proved in recent games against Yao (only 2p Yao scored on him in 18'), Gasol (only 8p last night on him in 24') and Howard (well, Howard is the beast but Fab did a solid job) he can be a great defender when manages out foul troubles.
I think with Duncan,Oberto, Horry/Elson/Bonner and Splitter next season, the Spurs shouldn't worry for their bigmen options.

Scola only plays 3 minutes in the first half, Rockets are up by 18.
The idea that somehow the Rockets are holding Scola down is a freaking joke...
The Rockets are a playoff team with at least two players who jocks Scola will never be fit to carry...
You Scola homers are sickening. Don't lecture us about team...you guys don't understand the first thing about team...if you did, you wouldn't be rooting for the player over it...and that's what you are doing...all you care about is Scola's scoring...and couldn't care less about if thr Rockets are actuallly winning or losing...and yet you have the audacity to put down, "the team" to jock the individual, you throw the entire team under the buss, in protecting your beloved individual...I'd call it hypochrisy...only you guys don't seem smart enough to deserve that label.
While I agree that when Scola plays less the Rockets win for some reason is an interesting/compelling stat, this thread however, is not about the Rockets winning or their record and it's not even about the Rockets as a team at all, it's about Scola's indvidual game, hence the title of the thread: The Official SCOLA thread. So it's no use bringing in winning in a thread about individual performances.

The problem of the Rockets isnīt T-Mac, Yao or Scola
The Problem is the other guards
Rafer Alston is 7.4 PPG in 8.2FGA (-1 PPS) with 34.8% FG and 22,4% 3FG (and 4 3FGA)
Mike James is 10 PPG in 10 FGA (1 pps) with 35,7% FG and 37.3% 3FG
Franchise is 35% FG and 0% 3FG, 0.9 PPS
And Bonzi Wells is bad like them, 32.7% and 10%, 0.85 PPS
With that Guards is impossible

What do you think if i say:
Spain and Argentina are both the teams to beat in the olympics, because the American players don't proven anithing in FIBA?
I'm talking bull shit, isn't it?
Welll the same thing i think when somebody say: Bonner > Scola
Basket is playing all over the worldl
When argentina beats USA in Indy 2002, no one of them were NBA players
So, in that moment if i could sayed FIBA > NBA, but that's not true
Not all the best player are in the NBA
Probably 48 or 49 of the best 50, 95-98 of 100 or 190 of 200, but not every NBA is better than the FIBA'S
Or is the Kiwi better than Scola because he "won" a ring in the NBA

Welll the same thing i think when somebody say: Bonner > ScolaDo they have sarcasm in Argentina? Pretty much the only reason anyone posts that is because it guarantees an online tantrum from one of you guys. Watching your Pavlovian response is sad and entertaining all at once.
You guys really need to stop living vicariously through your country's basketball players. Or start your own message board where only nice, non-sarcastic things can be said about them.

Mainly it's cause T-Mac and Rafer Alston aren't getting the ball to Scola. But when Scola has gotten touches he's torched the nets. He doesn't back down and he's a bulldozer down low. I think he's getting the deer caught in the headlights out of his system right about now. His teammates need to trust him more. He looks really good and improving every game.

Steady Progress
Scola is beginning to show progress nearly a month into rookie season
Damien Pierce
Rockets.com Staff Writer
MIAMI -- Nearly a month into his NBA career, Luis Scola knew exactly what he needed to do to get over his rough introduction to the league.
He had to stop thinking about it.
"I had a bad start," Scola said. "But it doesn't do any good to keep thinking about it. So I tried not to think about it too much. I just needed to keep working hard. When you do that, at the end of the day, something good will happen."
The rookie with the shaggy hair is beginning to make progress.
Since forgetting about his rough start, Scola has shown steady improvement heading into Saturday's home game against the Denver Nuggets.
The Rockets power forward netted at least 20 points in back-to-back games last week, sinking an impressive 66.7 percent of his shots from the floor. He also recorded the first double-double of his career with a 20-point, 11-rebound performance against the Phoenix Suns on Nov. 17.
Scola's recent production provided the Rockets with reliable shooting option when Tracy McGrady was out of the lineup.
Now, Scola is trying to maintain those numbers upon McGrady's return.
"He's coming on," Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. "When teams are fronting Yao like they have been, he's going to get shots. He can make those shots. Luis is a huge factor when he's making shots because it loosens things up."
Scola wasn't hitting much through the first three weeks of the season.
Before going on his recent scoring binge, the forward was averaging a modest 3.9 points on 41.7 percent shooting.
On top of that, Scola had trouble staying on the floor because he struggled with fouls and finding his role within the offense next to Yao and McGrady.
Adelman said the forward looked like he was pressing too much early in the season.
"Luis' biggest problem is that he's got so much energy and he works so hard that sometimes he's going too hard," Adelman said. "He's just relaxed the past few games and we're hoping that's going to carry on over."
Since Scola has spent his entire basketball career overseas, Adelman and his staff anticipated that the 27-year old rookie would need some time to adjust to the NBA.
Through the first month of the season, Scola has been guilty of setting moving screens, something that isn't called in international play.
Scola isn't interested in discussing the challenge of making the transition from international basketball to the NBA.
"I don't really like talking about it because I don't want to make excuses," Scola said. "I want to play the best I can and help the team as best I can. Sometimes I play good and sometimes I play bad. But I try not to think too much about what the differences are or how hard or easy it's been. I just try to play."
Scola, though, did say that he routinely checks with referees and coaches to make sure he's doing things properly.
"I usually do that," he said. "I think it's a good thing to have conversations with the referees and coaches because it's a good way to learn and to have a nice relationship with everybody. Once a foul is called, there is nothing that's going to change it. So I just talk with them to understand what I'm doing."
Scola seems to be catching on.
Over the past four games, the power forward has stayed out of foul trouble and has minimized his turnovers. That has allowed the Rockets to keep him on the floor for extended minutes, where Scola has pulled out of his early-season shooting slump to become a reliable scoring option from the bench.
The Rockets expect Scola's offensive numbers to improve as the Rockets become more adept at running Adelman's high-motion offense.
"He's a guy that thrives on motion and movement," Battier said. "Whenever we have good movement, he's going to play a very good game. He's a really good player. He's going to be in the right spot and he's going to continue to improve."
Scola understands the only way to do that as he adjusts to a new league is to keep an even keel.
"Sometimes I'm going to play good and sometimes I'm going to play bad," Scola said. "Lately, I've been playing good. But I just have to keep playing hard and keep working hard. That's what matters most."

The Rockets OTOH, just lost 7 games in a row, haven't made it out of the first round with this current cast, and have a brand new head coach...

Dunno...I'll give you Scola's rebounding has been nice. But as others have pointed...it's not so much he's in there fighting for rebounds, as he's just getting free ones. So while his rebounding has been better than expected...I wouldn't call him a rebounding force. Bonner OTOH, I don't ever seen him getting easy rebounds...he fights for the ones he gets.
Thing is...Duncan is a vacum...he gets every easy rebound there is to get plus he gets tough ones. This is why just about every bigman that lines up alongside him, has a decrease in rebounding totals. Yao OTOH...he's improved his rebounding, but he's not the rebounding force Duncan is. There are more easy rebounds to get on the Rockets than there are on the Spurs.
But I concede Scola's putting up some nice rebounding numbers...he's not showing to be any better of a rebounder than Oberto is though...nor does he get all those taps.

ArgieSpur, the basketball guru, please go to a Rockets board where you can complain about how Adelman is a moron and McGrady and Yao are raining on your boy's parade. He probably hopes the Rockets will cut McGrady and Yao so the stats will improve for you know who.
I've heard enough from this poster on ST. Go away.

I didn't know they should blame Scola for a loss. when did they hire him to coach the Rockets? :reading

I don't know why you keep bringing up his points and rebounds when they aren't contributing to wins....they are meaningless.
I think it's pretty funny how the more minutes Scola gets, the worst the Rockets seem to perform...
You want to blame the Rockets...guess what? The Rockets are a better team than Scola is a player. Rick Adelman has won every where he has gone. He's taken two teams to the finals, and is 10 times the coach that Scola is a player.
Scola is an extremely polished offensive player...but as I said, he's a liability everywhere else, and it's just kind of funny how the Rockets performance suffers the more he is on the floor.
And make no mistake about it...the NBA will figure out his pat move set and learn to stop it...right now they are still testing it and learning it. And he's not going to get more polished....

STFU Wottt, the more you talk the more stupid you make your self look like
BTW,Scola has always been +(positive)on most of the games He's played so far. Just go and check the Boxscores of each game.

I am using the username I have always used. I don't have a lot of posts because I have a job and a lot of other things going on (unlike you probably).
If you would have bothered to look at my other postings (not many, I'll admit), you would realize I (unlike you) have been a lifelong Spurs fan (since the late 70s). I have forgotten more about the NBA than you know. Trust me.
I've got to admit, this post really demonstrates your impressive command of the English language, what with the multiple grammatical errors and even throwing a very imaginative profanity my way. Good for you. :clap
There is no doubting your amazing ability to regurgitate a box score time after time after time. If you didn't know, most of us here are able to read a boxscore.
Hey, I wish Scola was in SA, but he's not. If it had been up to me, Luis would either be in SA with the Spurs or rotting over in Europe with Tau. Unfortunately, that is not the case because Buford and Popovich had a heart and allowed a deal to happen over the summer. I also believe the Spurs management team has made dozens of correct roster decisions over the years - mistakes have been few and far between. More often than not, the Spurs have had to let talented players go to stay within a budget established by management. The Spurs fiscal blueprint has not allowed them to keep everyone.
Luis is a less athletic Malik Rose who is a little better offensively and a lot worse defensively. Houston is struggling now because they have regressed defensively and are still trying to figure out the new offense. Too many guys are trying to be the star instead of letting Yao and McGrady do their thing.
Scola is a good player. It just gets old seeing the same old post over and over again. :sleep
I hope my post is not over your head. Just let it soak in and try not to post so often with your drivel.

Ok,I tell you what, since I'm so bad in English as you say I am,why don't we discuss this in ISPANISH?????

The bottom line is that Argentina has produced enough good basketball players to where ArgDoucheBag shouldn't be insecure about his country as a basketball power...not all Argie basketball players shit gold, the more good ones you produce, the more less good ones you will produce...is the natural order of success.

Actually, even TIMVP agreed that Scola was the best player Difending Duncan when we played the Rockets the other day.
You want a link to that too?
I guess you don't.
So now We have a good Scorer,Rebounder and Difensive player. What else you want for friking 3 M p/yr.????

Scola isn't a shot blocker at all, He would stay infront of his man,and will try to steal the ball or get a charge.(Off foul)

Timvp has thrown his lot in with the Scola lovers long ago and has a notorious track record of never giving up on his agenda.
Elson could average quint double for a season and it'll still be a flubbed rebound he hammers on.

Elson Sucks ass.And there's no remedy for that.

A good roster with good backups bigs will give you wins.
Scola could've been a great interior scorer from the Bench.
Not like Elson.

Wow.... still going with this rubbish.
Scola defended Duncan 'better' as timvp said, than who? Chuck Hayes (a rugged defender but not a prayer in the world of remotely slowing Duncan at 6'6'), a 73 year old Mutombo?
Since when did a comment from timvp saying Scola defended a guy better Chuck freakin Hayes and Mutombo put someone in the running for an All Defensive First team selection.
