Brilliant fucking conversation. I can't believe this is the shit that determines my paycheck.

Customer: Whats the trade figure

Me: It'll look like this

21,950 for ours
8,500 your trade
-----------------------
13,450 difference

I'll drive you out at

14,500.00

Customer: Thats not a good enough deal I want to drive out at 13,500.

Me: let me see what I can do.

Customer: ok whatcha got?

Me: ok I got you the additional grand.

21,950 ours
9,500 yours
-----------------
12,450 balance I'll drive you out at 13,500.

Customer: WTF you didn't lower the price its still 21,950

Me: No I raised your trade figure by a grand, it'll show a larger amount of positive equity and possibly earn you a better rate.

Customer: I didn't ask for more in trade I asked for a thousand off.

Me: Thats what you got....the drive out price is one grand less. I just raised the trade instead of discounting the trailer. There is no difference. Rule #1 is always raise the trade because more equity is always better when it comes to finance.

Pause.....

Me: Don't you see the bottom dollar a thousand less like you requested????????????????stupid?????????????

Customer: (now yelling) YOU'RE JUST PLAYING NUMBERS GAMES WITH ME. THIS IS BULLSHIT. YOU'RE TRYING TO SCREW ME OVER.

Me: Sorry I can't help you see what you want to see but I went in and got what you asked for, thats all I can do

Customer: ::Grumbling::

Me: good luck and good bye

Why didn't you just close the deal? He didn't seem like he was being that unreasonable. The funny thing is that what you're saying crossed my mind. Obviously the conversation went on for a few minutes. I even re-wrote the buyers order with his original trade figure and a discounted list price and he was just too far gone at that point to not see that there was no difference. No matter what I did I was trying to screw him. I could have told him 10 bucks and he would have still gone Manny on me.

Its one of those fucked up times that presentation mattered over actual truth and fact.
