this game has been reminiscent of DEC-JAN spurs. get dow early and struggle to come back all night. these are the worst types of games.
How about we've been like that for about 10 games now...

Live and die with the three. And you simply DIE without rebounding. And even worse, lose to a sub .500 team. See you next game. Again, this is only one game. Plenty more to go for improvement.

It's beyond a joke now. Someone has to tell these guys u gotta play the whole fucking game otherwise you'll lose every single freaking game.
Maybe when we play sub 500 teams Pop needs to sit the starters so the other team can get a big lead that way when the starters come back in they'll have to play all out to get back into it and win. Maybe that will make them learn to give 100% effort.

Because we all know Manu will hit a three, Pop was trying to get Finley some confidence back.
I think since Parker's been back, Pop thinks we can slack off again in the regular season. He's made some pretty weird coaching decisions since our 11 game win streak ended, like with our rotations who we run our offense through, etc.

They're spoiled by the big four, It's not too much to ask for them to make their damn open shots. They're NBA players. They should take advantage that they have three great players making their life easier offensively. Instead they just aren't there mentally or competitively, or whatever.

I don't like the fact that Manu (as exhausted and injured as he is) had to play almost 40 minutes tonight.
Unfortunately, with no one except the Big Four playing any decent basketball, Pop had no choice...
The sad part is that even if The Big Three plays really good, it is not enough because no one else contributes...
The team has become a team of 3-4 players, that's it...
Hence, the main players are getting huge minutes...are playing solid basketball...yet still loosing due to no contribution from the role players...
If I were Manu/Tim/Tony, I'd set up a team meeting or something and really talk to Finley/Stoudemire/Vaughn/Bonner/etc...and maybe give them a pep talk or something...or just a little push. This is the time when the leaders need to get together and really talk to the other players...

Pop made a boo-boo,
I don't care to agree with the white flag with 6 minutes left, it left a lot of non-Spurs fans puzzled.
If Pop waved it at 3 minutes I'd understand but 15 points is EASILY overcome, and would have given us momentum against the Suns on Sunday. Instead the loss probably made them self-aware that they' were in for a tiring road trip.

Ime and Barry, Ime another wing defender who can defend and hit the 3, and Barry who can move the ball and hit the 3. If you think about it Ime and Barry will help hopefully because it will mean less Finley! lol. And someone needs to slap these fuckers in the head, I promise you if theyre more agressive and take it to the hole we in, more 2 pters less 3 pters please. 6-21 on 3's? Are you kidding me? Thats too many. Thank god after we play Boston Monday they dont play till Thursday again. We'll be just fine, we'll be there in the end, I know it. Remember other Western Conf. teams are playin each other alot over these next two weeks. Playoffs is where it counts, we'll be ok. FUCKING BELIEVE 08.

even if they don't win a title we are not going to be swept in the first round period! There are no back to back games and Barry will be back so we don't have to see Finley in crunch time!

Tough call.
All we need is to build momentum, we'll be fine.
Last year's team could beat anybody. Only difference is we have a better center and less reliable back up PG now.
Pop just needs to bench Stoudamire's ass or relegate him to two shots per game , when Barry comes back, set our rotations depending on Finley's shot coming back in time, and we'll be good to make a hell of a run. This team can beat anybody if the bench just hits their damn open shots again. That's what made us so good in the first half of the season.

They will pull out of this shit, the schedule just caught up to them big time, 8 GAMES IN 11 NIGHTS, VARIOUS BACK 2 BACKS, NO REST, NO TIME 2 PRACTICE, STILL INCORPORATING THOMAS, NO UDOKA/BOWEN FOR A GAME, BARRY MISSING. They will be just fine. Tony's coming around, Tim will turn it up, Manu will turn it up, the bench will be fine with Udoka and Barry coming back, we'll be there when it comes down 2 it. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE HEART OF A CHAMPION.

Listen guys don't freak out and don't give up. This thing is not over. This is a ridiculously tough schedule to worry too much over these recent losses. If we lost all these games after one or two days rest before each game then you could get upset.
We just need to take it one game at a time from now on. So let's just go home and take care of business next game.

We're getting down to the point where excuses aren't going to cut it. Every team is tired, every team has had injuries. 16 games left (I believe) and a tough opponent coming up. If we're going to start rolling and bring some momentum with us into the playoffs, not to mention getting a decent seed, we gotta get it cranked up. I'm optimistic, but it DOES seem there are a few more "issues" to deal with this year than in years past. Bench production most of all because I'm not sure how easy that is to fix. Barry comes back with a lot of expectations on him.

Also, I think Ime and Barry would really help when they are both available to play. I'd like to see Finley benched if possible. If Ime's out for a bit longer then why not give Demarr Johnson a shot again? His defense can't be any worse than Finley's right now and he might even hit a few more open shots.
If Barry returns and has no lingering injury issues I'd even look at cutting Stoudamire and Vaughn's minutes down and let Manu and Brent play back up point.

The 2001 Lakers weren't playing very good all season until April. Then they won all their games in April and had the best post season run in NBA history. It can be done.

Spurs were worn out after playing Pistons last night. They're an old team. That's reality. But damn, with the West as tough as it is now, things are starting to look a little worrisome. As Barkley says, how realistic is it to think that a 5,6, 7 or 8 seed is going to be able to win 3 straight series on the road? Yikes..

I think the '01 Lakers still won some 58 games or so. And they had role players that could actually produce.
The Spurs need to reload, they should have done it last offseason but they decided to chance it and go with what they have. It's no coincidence they are in the position they are in right now.

If Duncan, Parker, Ginobili are healthy and Bowen can still play his stifling defense, and Barry comes back healthy, I still think the Spurs have a good chance in the playoffs.
Of course, they absolutely need to make sure they get a top 4 seed before anything can happen. It's going to be hard to go through that many road series, especially considering the Spurs are something like .500 on the road this season.

They made a good logical decision by standing pat and making small moves/changes this time.
The reason why we haven't repeated was because they would jettison key role players and institute new ones to take their spots that took too long to get used to the system.
The only downside to our standing pat is that the pieces we chose to stand pat with are all 35 years old or older!
So it was basically a gamble, and unfortunately, we don't have the luxury to micromanage minutes to keep us fresh for the playoffs like we could in last year's regular season. Pop couldn't have predicted it, so it's not his fault.
If the Bench could just improve their shooting percentage to even 40 -43 % range our chances for winning will be much improved.

They have Duncan. But if you want to press the issue and make me change my answer, how bout New Orleans? I need to find the post, but I basically went through the top nine in the West. There's no team right now that is clear-cut head and shoulders above the others.

Utah is about to play 8 of 9 at home and the lone roadie is at Minny. They could get the 1 seed, and if they do, they would become my faves to come out of the West. They just don't lose in SLC.

Outside of those five
we just need three more guys to step up for a great 8 man rotation to use in the Playofs.
If you think about it we still have very solid pieces if they just play up to their abilities.

People don't realize how hard it is to repeat. It's not just a matter of getting new players, etc. Every game the Spurs play, the opposing team is using as a barometer to measure themselves and see where they are. Everyone always wants to beat the defending champs...even the lottery bound teams. It's the one game every team in the league guaranteed gets up for.
Spurs getting that kind of effort from opposing teams night in and night out is going to be hard. In fact, before tonights game against the Spurs, they interviewed on the local news earlier this week the Sixers players and practically all of them said getting a victory over the defending champs would be a great boost for them.
