Lol, "formal threat"
A trial without witnesses is a coverup.
Lol, "formal threat"
Eyup.
Gonna be awful hard for them to defend that though.
Republicans got burned when voters turned on them because of the Clinton impeachment.
They are all seeming to operate under the illusion that voters always punish the party pushing to impeach, as if what happened here was just like lying about a BJ.
They are so wrapped up in their information bubble, that quite of a few of them have got to actually believe that.
Republicans were on the wrong side of the Clinton impeachment, and their replacement, the Trump Party, is on the wrong side of this one.

‘The president is afraid’:
Historian tells CNN that Trump’s attempt to block Bolton’s book is an epic blunder
Timothy Naftali ... , told a CNN panel on Wednesday that President Donald Trump’s attempt to block former national security adviser John Bolton from publishing his book would be a massive political blunder.
the move would backfire and make it more likely that vulnerable Republican senators would call for Bolton to testify.
“One of the reasons why this is… a bad political strategy [is] there are people who don’t want to be part of a coverup,” he said.
“This kind of letter is sending a signal that the president is afraid.
I don’t think it’s helpful to Murkowski, Lamar Alexander, Collins, Romney.
The president is basically saying, ‘We don’t want anybody to see this.'”

Will Bolton be Trash's John Dean?
‘The worst I’ve seen’: Conservative reacts in horror to Trump’s ‘dangerous’ abuse of executive powers
Hillyer argues that the strongest defense of Trump’s conduct lies in
an expansive view of executive power that makes the president virtually unaccountable for any wrongdoing.
“Their theory of an uber-powerful president is cons utionally bogus and, worse, quite dangerous,”
Trump’s decision to hold off legislatively approved military aid to Ukraine for his own political benefit was a violation of Congress’s most vital single power.
Trump’s delay of statutorily mandated military assistance to Ukraine,
a delay about which he wrongly refused to inform the Senate,
one overcome only after the whistle was blown against him and
which even then resulted in a failure to distribute $35 million by the legal deadline,
Trump actually transgressed upon the single most important authority of Congress, namely the power of the purse,” he argues.

"uber-powerful president" is exactly what the Repugs/oligarchy/ headh/Barr want,
a President who effectively is an unconstrained authoritarian (as long as he is a Repug, NOT a Dem) in one-party Repug govt.

Alan Dershowitz just argued presidents can do whatever they want to get re-elected
Trump's alleged Ukraine quid pro quo wasn't impeachable because
he was actually just acting in the "public interest."
he was making the case that because
every
president believes it's in the public interest to win an election,
any action geared toward securing victory is immune from impeachment.

Holy
Did Dersh contract a brain-eating parasite from the Epstein little girls he ed?

you can do a lot of great great things with your Harvard education...
or
you can use it to pros ute yourself and help destroy your own country like Dero z
How do you square this Republicans? That’s tuff
They'll hear Bolton for optics and then disregard what he said in the actual vote.
From what I've read this is highly unlikely. Gardner already said he'll vote for no witnesses. I guess he might as well because he's toast anyways. Kind of like Dean er with his ill fated vote on Rape-A-Naugh.
Man, these Republicans gots.
Hmmm, I thought Moscow Mitch didn't have the votes to stop witnesses. Wouldn't surprise me if he did I guess.
said it from the start:
there will never be a 4th vote
susan collins and her weak repuke traitors can vote for witnesses
knowing (moscow mitch already sealed the deal)
that there will never be a 4th vote
then she will helplessly plead; “we tried but could not find a 4th vote”
only an idiot would think Bolton filled his book with classified information.
Hi, Darrin!
Well of course Trump s think Bolton is some Johnny-come-lately politician like Dear Leader that doesn't know what is classified and what is not. He worked for three previous presidents.
Last I heard Cocaine Mitch was frantically running around trying to get votes to block witnesses, did something change?
Id be surprised if there are no witnesses. Republicans need to put on some semblance of a dog and pony show before the acquit, they can’t overtly make this a kangaroo hearing.
EDIT: Nevermind, now I’m seeing it. Outside of Collins and Romney there won’t be any Republicans voting for witnesses. Pretty embarrassing that Schumer couldn’t have put more heat on Republicans up for re-election in 2020 swing states.
...and just like that John Bolton became a mooslim loving commie lib anti-vaxxer born in kenya.

no, they don't. That's not Moscow 's plan, never was.
If Repugs had their way, they would received the A of I and immediately dismissed them.
At this point I doubt I can be surprised at how morally bankrupt the Trump Party that replaced the Republican party is.
Bunch of sniveling cowards living in constant fear of a mean tweet. Holy balls.
(edit)
I had thought that unlikely too, but have seen a few accounts of vote wrangling that say otherwise. Too much uncertainty to call it until it happens.
Trump's not the cause, he's the symptom of the deterioration of the GOP ever since they went nuts over a black man being president.
Imo it goes back further than that. After the colossal failure that was GWBs presidency they only had two options, admit their deregulation bull failed or go crazy and move further right. They chose the latter.
MSNBC's Chris Matthews: Trump has a 'good shot' at being re-elected since 'so many things are moving in his direction'
Then-Sen. Barack Obama, in 2005, echoed those arguments, calling Bolton "damaged goods" whose appointment as ambassador means "we will have less credibility and ironically be less equipped to reform the United Nations in the way that it needs to be reformed.
Schiff made similar arguments back in May 2005, saying in an interview with CNN's "Crossfire" that Bolton was "more focused on the next job than doing well at the last job" when he was up for nomination as ambassador to the United Nations under then-President George W. Bush.
"And particularly given the history, where we've had the politicizing of intelligence over WMD [weapons of mass destruction], why we would pick someone who the very same issue has been raised repeatedly, and that is John Bolton's politicization of the intelligence he got on Cuba and other issues, why we would want someone with that lack of credibility, I can't understand," Schiff had said.
