i think the lease was extended through 2032 with the $100 million renovation of the arena by the city of San Antonio.
Are you serious?

my spurs and raiders belong together, tbh
you admit you have no knowledge of anything.
You're working off pure emotion.
The Holts are not majority owners. They can sell their stake at any time.
You don't know who the other owners are so you can't make claims about their passion or commitment.
The SA city government barely matters at all since the lease is set until 2032 and the agreement is with Bexar County which owns the arena, not the city. That is the most basic fact to know here and you didn't know it.
Things can change as the lease comes closer to expiring, but this kind of speculation is pretty baseless. The current arena deal is just that good for SS&E. It could be as simple as their coming to the conclusion it's more profitable to book events other than Stars and Rampage games for those ~55 dates per year.

People in this thread keep forgetting the spurs have a lease....
Until 2032....
For the next 12 years...
That was just recently signed a few years ago...
That is extremely friendly to SS&E...
That was tied to a $100+ million renovation of the ATT Center
But I’m sure the county will let them out of their recently signed lease, and lose their anchor tenant on a building they just invested an extra 100+ million in.
Crap on the source if you like, but jettisoning a money-loser is Occam's razor for this sale.

There is very little do entation on this-
Best I can find
Anyone aware of any other major shareholders?, I always assumed that no one was close to that, but...Peter and Julianna Hawn Holt became the Spurs’ largest shareholders in 1996. They are believed to own about 40 percent of the team, which would mean their share of the Spurs is worth about $620 million after Forbes valued the team at nearly $1.6 billion last year.

Makes sense. Thanks. But that makes ownership's willingness to suffer what the Old Asshole is doing to the Spurs that much more enigmatic.
Spur fans will not support a losing team. They are good as gone if they sink into the lottery for a few years.
Has a pro team never bought out a lease just like it does a player contract?
New York, New Jersey and Phil are close.
Population density is far greater in the northeast corridor than Texas.
Nah they will probably still be in SA. I live in Charlotte and the Hornets have had attendance for years along with perennial mediocrity and they are still here. The Spurs relocating is just a fantasy trolls in here have since there is nothing left to troll about.
Alsoat the fantasy of moving the Spurs to Austin. I'm not from SA or Texas so I don't have a sentimental connection to the city but I do find it funny how some people believe in here if the Spurs move to Austin that it will help them get big time FAs. When in reality major FAs don't give a about any locations outside of NYC/LA/Bay Area/Miami.
so angry
What is your call here? Las Vegas Spurs?
get a map dude
So your take is the Spurs will be sold and the name changed after a move? This is your actual call and not part of another tantrum? Where is the team going? When?
I was asking if he was being serious, dude.
Oh. We’re doing this tired again huh?
Austin is slightly closer to Houston by actual miles, but San Antonio to Houston is probably a shorter drive time. Austin is about 75 miles closer to Dallas, but drive time from San Antonio to Dallas is made worse because of the necessity of driving through Austin - a notoriously congested stretch of interstate.
calmer than you dude
Austin to houston is faster than SA to houston cus of I-10/290
Of course but I was responding to 150 miles radius.
Las Vegas/ More attractive city for an NBA franchise
Will make Summer League easier.
