The Dems would be foolish to think that Texas is there for the taking in 2020. I'd pay more attention to the figures in the swing states. North Carolina (which Trump won in 2016 by 3.6%) had a turnout of 1,194,778 voters for the democrats and 798,773 for the republican (it is a semi-closed primary). Virginia only held a primary for the Democrats but they did have almost 1.3 million voters show up. The Midwest will be interesting to watch in seeing how many each party brings out, but especially in seeing how Biden fares in the key states of Ohio, Wisconsin and Michigan (it would not be a favorable sign for him if he loses some of these states to Sanders). Pennsylvania will also be big. Maybe Florida. Another interesting note. Much attention is being paid to how well Biden is doing with Black voters but not sure if anyone is noticing how poorly is doing with Latino voters.
He'll do well with the Latinos in Florida. They don't like the fact that Bernie praises Cuba, China, Soviet Union, etc.

that would be the best case scenario, tbh. biden committing to a one year term, endorsing warren 2024. warren's judgment when it comes to campaigning is pretty poor, but on messaging and policy she is on point
He's not making it a second term

Bloomberg dropping out is just the last Mario kart speed boost for Biden. What a turnaround. The comeback kid
centrism is strong. regardless of the outcome in the general election, we will be getting four more years of the same . just a little less racist on the surface and more anti-russia.

Her campaigning wouldn't matter at that point. She will have the name recognition, the moderate rub off from Biden, and past progressive support.

Wasn't last night a clear rejection of Liz by democrat voters? She was third in her own state.

we saw pete/amy voters consolidate behind biden... liz had too much overlap with sanders, and many of her voters had already moved on. if sanders wasn't in the race, she'd have done considerably better, imo

As president. Could be a decent VP choice, but Elena might be better.

Republicans, already the radical party, are trending toward caudillismo. In such a scenario, political moderates will have been midwives to fascism, if Trump and the GOP succeed in their jihad against majority rule and the administrative state.

actually, america is one big caudilo. the analogy i would use is that the democrats are what republicans once were (during nixon, ford, reagan and bush) and the republicans are bat crazy. and the rest of us are ed.

Today’s Democratic Party is to the right of Nixon and Ford and by a wide margin.

economically yes. no doubt. and i think biden used nixon's and reagan's tough on crime/war on drugs strategies as inspiration for his own crime bill (which the Black demographic seems to have forgiven). of course, both parties have been war-mongering imperialists all along.

It’s unbelievable that the Dem nominee is a virtual guarantee to be too mentally decayed to serve 2 terms

there's an argument that it's preferable to having them serve while incompetent

an otherwise competent bernie suffering a fatal heart attack in 3 years, and having a quick succession to the competent VP is preferable so somebody who continues to govern while mentally declining

And the last 4 years have proved mental decay has nothing to do with having your followers nod and follow

i think trump is just a moron, i dont know that his incompetence in office is due to mental decay or just being stupid and gullible to begin with

Meh. the world didn't end with Wilson and Reagan's enfeeblement. I'd actually expect Joe to be more upfront that those two about it if his mind is really checking out. That said, the VP choice is going to be more critical than usual. Another plus for Elena over Warren.
