    Welcome to tdays nba tbh
the just kept letting Murray take step back threes over and over again. At some point you need to double him or change your defense to make someone else beat you.

    Agree to a certain extent.

But the problem with doubling in a halfcourt set all the way out beyond the three point line is that it almost always leads to a wide open corner three which even NBA role players have become wildly proficient at making, and sometimes it leads to a rotation where a 7 footer has a midget on him under the rim and gets essentially an uncontested dunk. Most good NBA teams after a couple times facing that double out on the perimeter will adjust and get not just a good shot but great shot from it.

To me, it’s more about trapping Murray fullcourt and denying hm the ball. Don’t let Murray be the one bringing up the ball. Deny him the ball as much as you can. If he still gets it and makes all those shots, tip your cap.

    this

either deny them, or youre just gonna have to live with them hitting ridiculous shots

same as with mike and his turnaround, sometimes theres just no answer, especially when the team is built right

ok 250 pts was an exaggeration (duh) but I'm just saying those series weren't better defensively than the current Jazz vs Nuggets

    Nate McMillan was great defensively.

Those 93 Sonics should've beat the Bulls, tbh.

Live game time. No. And I didn't miss anything much, tbh.

I wouldn't mind catching Game 7. Game 7 of even a sucky series holds potential.

In 93 they had Payton and Nate, who were both great defensively but in 93 the Sonics weren't great yet in terms of team defense
It's really when they added Kendall Gill thait defense became a problem, tey had a 3 headed monster in both full court and half court press and quick and effective double teams, forcing a lot of turnovers

Rockets or Sonics would have beaten the tbh that year

LOL Suns getting 64 FTs in game 7

ANd at those who think Majerle was a good defender, any BS to prop MJ up I guess

Their backcourt got lit up by the corpse of Sedale Threatt in the 1st round, they almost lost the scrubby Lakers
Then TOSB's Ricky Pierce and Eddie Johnson skull ed Majerle

What Murray and mitc have done is crazy but beither team plays any defense. Only shot either team has is hoping for a uptemp shoot out and PG 13 keeos firing blanks. Might have to try and get physical with Kawhu cuz Leonard is ginna drop dat shoulder and hit that turn around j which is automatic.

There is no defense for what Murray is doing right now other than putting a Kawhi type defender on him and bothering him with length. Utah doesn't have that, and doubling that far out is dumb for the reasons already mentioned. If a guy is going to hit step back 3s and contested 3s all night, gotta tip your cap.

If you double out beyond the three point line, then be ready to give up uncontested dunks and wide open corner three pointers. If you can accept that, then okay.

The other thing with a guy like Murray or Dame when they’re in this type of zone, you can’t wait until they hit a couple to start the strategy. Can’t wait until you’re down 10 points to start doubling. When you do, those easy corner threes and wide open dunks just end up being shovels digging you a bigger hole to climb out of. If doubling is the strategy, do it from opening tip so Murray never gets it going. And accept that other guys may beat you on easy shot attempts. It’s basically a James Harden defensive strategy.

Denver has the ancillary talent to make teams pay for doubling out that far. Having said that, I might start off with doubling to stop him from getting into a rhythm early, just like you mentioned, and see if the role players are up for it.

Conventional wisdom says that Murray won't keep this up for another game, and to not overreact, but idk. The guy is just on another level right now. No guard has played this well in a playoff series since maybe MJ...the shot making has been incredible.

Interesting how game 7 is more a battle of centers, in contrast to the rest of the series.
