Not only that, once McConnell ended the filibuster on SCOTUS picks so they could ram Gorsuch through, the argument from establishment Dems about howwe need to be careful about ending the filibuster
went away. It's pretty clear that McConnell would eventually end the filibuster altogether if it was getting in the way of legislation his corporate overlords really wanted.
If the Democrats don't use the nuclear option on the filibuster in order to ram a bunch of legislation through, the Republicans eventually will. Better to be proactive than reactive. I can't think of better legislation to end the filibuster with than legislation around adding states to the union that pad a Democrat majority.
