Seems like the debate didn't move the needle much but it improved Harris's favorability rating, which was probably the most important goal. There aren't very many voters left that Biden has a chance at converting, so it's important the ones he has converted are OK with the idea of Harris taking over if Biden croaks.

The group in the CNN poll leaned Democrat, but not by 20 points. IIRC it was like 38% Democrat, 33% independent and 29% Republican. If you assume all Dems say harris won and all Republicans say Penis won, Harris still outperformed Mike Penis with independent poll participants.
