Because the 1.8 plan has garbage in it. The number is higher but it includes no city and state relief but more corporate welfare with no strings attached.
McConnell has also already said he’d mothball the $1.8 trillion deal if it ever got to the senate, so there’s no point in trying to get it through the house.

I’m glad Pelosi isn’t taking the deal. The days of the Democrats always being the adults in the room when McConnell wants to play hardball are over. It can’t always be the Democrats’ responsibility to compromise while the Republicans play games.
