Lol....I wonder how the stimulus talks will go after all this?
McConnell really ed up not doing a stimulus before the election. Trump would have won going away and it would have been a minimal price for the GOP to pay to ensure they get to keep confirming federal judges for four years as opposed to maybe only being able to deny nominations.

I’m still astonished that they didn’t pass one....that seemed such an obvious strategy and makes me think that Pelosi really is the one holding it up.

To be fair people said that about the GOP after 2008 and look what happened.
Prob ripe for another cult of personality that comes up and says the right empty to resonate with all the empty people.
The GOP got taken over by Koch money pushing them harder right. There is no money that's going to push the Democrats anywhere but to the right.

McConnell kept pushing a small stimulus with his corporate immunity poison pill. He was never seriously going to pass a stimulus.

i disagree that trans issues = wokeness
There’s literally 500 transgender prison inmates in the entire country. I really don’t think whether the government finances their sex change surgery should be such a hot topic during a primary debate.

Most Americans don’t give a about “trans rights” (I’m still not sure what that means beyond what bathroom they’re allowed to use). There’s a reason the Dems immediately started to care about trans rights after gay marriage became a settled issue, they needed a new wedge issue they could talk about to avoid having to address real issues like wealth inequality and healthcare.

Just imagine if Trump actually handled COVID-19 with a modi of competence. He would have won this election in a landslide

Same could be said for the house Dems and their Heroes Act. No one really thought that would pass.

This is my point that neither side really gives a about anything other than votes.

The HEROES Act is something more than 60% of America wants passed. Why are you blaming Pelosi for McConnell refusing to put it up for a vote in the senate?

Heck, if Trump just didn’t make mean spirited jokes about John McCain and still handled COVID this horribly, he’d probably be winning Arizona and would have a huge lead in Pennsylvania that he could defend in court

    Michigan Presidential Election Results

    Mich. Statewide Results
Michigan had been reliably blue in choosing a president for nearly 25 years, until 2016, when Donald Trump won the state by the smallest margin in the country – 10,704 votes. But Joseph R. Biden Jr. has seen consistent leads in virtually all the polls leading up to Election Day.

what i mean is i dont know how much trans issues actually get discussed relative to what you are describing. i dont remember it coming up at all during the general election cycle

What does national support have to do with the amount of Pork put into the bill? My point is simply that it was never going to gain bi-partisan support.

Trump’s bark really is a lot louder than his bite. It’s almost 9 am and he hasn’t done anything to try and stop vote counting yet. If he was serious about stealing this election he should have been in court seeking injunctive relief to stop ballot counting at 12:01 AM when he had a big lead in the rust belt states. Gonna be a lot harder for him to try and unwind votes in Wisconsin and Michigan that have now already been counted.

That just depends on whom you believe. According to Republican negotiators, she wasn’t caving on . There’s almost no way to know what was really happening, short of recording the meetings. Like I said, neither party cares.

It didn’t get bipartisan support because the GOP senators don’t give two s about doing what American voters want them to do. You’re saying Pelosi is the problem when she’s the one who’s actually doing what the American people want in terms of a stimulus package.

I don't see where the Democrats go after tonight. Even if Biden wins who the do they run in 2024 and not get massacred? Harris won't stand a chance if Trump or Uday runs and the Democratic bench is horrible. The Democrats are like the Lakers if you took away LeBron and AD.
4 years is a long way away

no way Trump runs again in four years if Biden wins imo.
If he loses and is a citizen, the pending litigation will kill him
NY state is gonna get him
He must tie up litigation for 4 years... old will win out even more quickly

If Biden goes on to win the presidency that's going to be the US for the next 2 if not 4 years

I’m definitely not for a candidate calling himself a socialist the way Bernie did, I’m saying Dems shouldn’t let it dictate their policy agenda. Bernie also start embracing the woke way too much in 2020 vs. 2016, if there’s one thing moderates and progressives can agree on after this election it’s that we really need to back off the woke . The days of Elizabeth Warren spending a full 2 minute debate response talking about how she’d give transgender inmates free sex change surgery need to be over.
I'm as bleeding heart as they come and even I despise "woke ." It's created a suffocating politically correct culture where you're labeled a racist for even the slightest off-color joke that pokes fun at ethnic stereotypes. A joke like "comb the desert" from Spaceballs would invite a social justice warrior wrath that would likely have that joke edited out if it were released today. But what I think really fuels the white grievance here is the double standards of its application. There's no joke or comments that are off limits if they're about white people. Tell a joke about how rednecks love to their cousins, and you get laughs. Tell a joke about how black people have ashy skin, and you're "cancelled."

The pandering is also pathetic. "Woke capital" is the term. The way Netflix, Amazon, and such have sections for "Black stories" and how the entertainment industry will cast people-of-color in roles that were traditionally "white." I have no problem with that in theory, but in today's climate, the passive-aggressiveness of doing that is obvious. Sure, I'm all for more people-of-color and other marginalized groups in leading creative roles, but give them their own stories rather than try to stir up by casting a black Sherlock Holmes. Again, I want to clarify that I think something like a black Sherlock Holmes would be cool, but it'll just generate more trouble than its worth given our current cultural and political landscape.
