No LMA or White. Webster goes nuts from 3. Awful refs in the first half. Last year, thats a 30point loss.

I don't think they move fast on offense at all. Every offensive possession is 4 of them standing still as a goddamned scarecrow at the three point line while one isos and loses the heart to attack just before he reaches the paint. He launches the ball back out to the three point line where it is caught by a teammate who is too hesitant to shoot before the defenses closes, if the pass isn't snatched by the other team instead. Then sub in Patty so we can focus the offense through him and give up as many points as he scores, with his teammates standing still as goddamned scarecrows the entire time.

    Rinse and repeat.
This. Where is the coaching? Where are the sets we are so used to seeing? Where is the system?

Three pointers are easy when they're wide open.

The size disadvantage is being overrated. Very close game if we weren't screwed by the refs. Being close with the defending champs is no joke.

    My grades:

Dejounte Murray: A-. Not sure how he could have played better than he did in this game. Look for others more? No turnovers? He was scoring in the inside, mid-range, and 3. Very good game.

Keldon Johnson: C-. Great man to man defense as usual. Has to make better reads when he's attacking the basket. The spark is gone because the refs call ZERO fouls for him when they did it a lot during the bubble.

DeMar DeRozan: B-. There was a period where I thought he was playing a little selfish, but that was only for a short time. Overall, a good showing from him where he didn't get in the way of others and he scored when needed. Was not good defensively tonight.

Jakob Poetl: C-. Frustrating game for him. Makes stupid fouls and misses free throws. The beginning of the game he was an absolute positive though.

Lonnie Walker: B. Is he becoming fearless in driving the ball? If this is a sign of things to come, then it changes things... Had a couple dumb Lonnie moments (missed layup where no one was guarding him)

Patty Mills: B-. Made some timely 3's but then went trigger happy mode for a bit.

Drew Eubanks: C. This would be a C+ or a B- if he didn't have the dumbest 30 seconds of the entire ball game. We were down 5 and then he killed our momentum. However, he was a force on defense for short periods. If he can play smarter, he'd be a decent back-up big.

Devin Vassell: B-. Rook wasn't out there much but he made a timely 3 and 1 or 2 good defensive plays.

Rudy Gay: C+. Played OK defense and OK offense. He's a net zero out there.

We understandably tried Eubanks tonight and well...we have to do better than a guy like that. He's a G-Leaguer, perhaps G-League All-Star but he has no business getting serious minutes on an NBA team with playoff aspirations.

This Lakers team is even better than last year's championship team.

Dejounte improved explosiveness and confidence in finishing is for real.

Lonnie becoming more fearless attacking is a positive, he didn't disappear this game even after a slow start.

Scouting report is out on Keldon let's see how he adjusts his game. The corner threes he thrived in the bubble is no longer there.

Getting to the rim is the key for our young guys to survive on offense whenever Demar/LA leaves and they showed it this game.

Worst +/- on the floor for the Spurs followed by (no surprises here) empty calories.

These guys have got to stop cheating off of the 3-point line too.

You aren't "helping". Just don't let your guy bust a wide open 3. Especially when he has hit several already.

Also, I don't know why it's so hard for this team to understand they need to be attacking the basket. Not just evey couple of possessions, but CONSTANTLY. It's freaking pissing me off.

I really don't know what game you were watching.

The New Orleans game, maybe. But tonight, they attacked the basket often.

    My observations:

    - Spurs lack a quality, starting centre. Poeltl’s foul issues and inept offensive production limits his ability to occupy the position full time. LMA’s defensive limitations, effort and injury niggles suggest it might be best to move him to a reduced bench role.

    - DJ looks like a legitimate offensive weapon. He’s finishing well around the hoop, jumper has been pretty consistent and he’s getting by the initial defender most times at will. That backcourt pairing of White and Murray has to have Spurs fans salivating.

    - 3 pt Defence. Multiple efforts are required. Conceding an open shot to a shooter just because you stopped the initial drive is not the answer.

I'm done with Pop's fetish of rostering at least one guy who went undrafted for a good reason. Forbes was the last straw for that sympathy .

They aren't aggressive enough. They are too young and fast not to be absolutely relentless. They have to make it to have to guard them all at once.

They have to attack and if not successful, immediately move the ball to the next guy, who should already be in motion and have momentum and have another option in mind if he can't get all the way to the rim.

This team doesn't shift the opposing defense AT ALL because they all act like Stonehenge rocks when they should be the exact opposite.

These guys act like they are tired right from tip-off. And for the love of god, someone make them practice 3-man-weave or something because they are godawful at fast breaks.

The good news is their issues are all mental. Of course, that's the bad news too.

Speed it up. Play with urgency and aggression. They look slow.

Really starting to sound like Becky's the one being groomed to be the next head coach after Pop retires...

Dejounte love the hunger in murray, he was phenomenal tonight and kept us in it the second half, glad Becky subbed him in and had him play the entire fourth

Weird thing to be angry about. A lot of teams have more undrafted players.

If fans were in the AT&T Center there'd be just as many Laker fans as Spurs fans tbh. Agree about the asterisk though.
Yeah you're probably right. Plus our fans kinda suck and are spoiled so there you go. It's just frustrating to see LA play out of this world vs us. To me it seems like it's more between the ears.

4 Fouls in 3 Games with improved minutes. At least for now there is improvment.
and he got in foul trouble again as a starter

Spurs played hard. That is a great Lakers team. Tough team to beat with healthy LBJ.
