Sure, but you realize a coach can’t go out there and make up for all the point black misses these guys have rightSure, but you realize that the coach is also picking the personnel rightLike someone said before, the team needs a massive overhaul. The “vets” aren’t the only issues here lol. The youth, with the exception of Keldon, haven’t been all that either.
The only hope I have of Becky being better than Pop in that regard, is that she's younger and might not be so "set on her ways", and be more open to the new and changing NBA. It's been clear for some years now that Pop doesn't like the way the league is trending, and has actively tried to "zag", to lousy results. How could we know how much of the Spurs' outdated plan is on Becky and how much on Pop? I tend to think that Pop does whatever he wants, and Becky won't confront him on it, even if she's clearly seeing that it's not working. That's why I hope things change once she's inevitably made HC. Seeing those losses first-hand has got to amount to something, right?
On the personnel.... I agree to an extent. But it goes both ways: if you have personnel overhelping, you sit them down on film, and drill it through their heads that they don't. Have. To. Overhelp. On. Drives. Like, this isn't some complicated play that they're failing to run due to IQ or whatever. It's literally to not follow the helping instinct on a drive by an opponent, since you're leaving your man wide open for a 3 on the drive-and-dish by the ballhandler. Do you really think Rudy's IQ is so, so low that he cannot comprehend this concept? If you do, we can agree to disagree. There's just no way. Lonnie can be coached to not do it.... But he isn't. Many of our players could be coached into (...), but aren't. Is the personnel not up to par? For sure. But the coaching and gameplan are inequivocally outdated for the modern game, tbh.
Now I don’t feel bad anymore about living in SA and having to pirate games because I’m a cord cutter. Seems like I was done a favor.
