You're dreaming -- and so is Joe Biden -- if you think the genie can be shoved back in the lamp, but that's the way England, Germany and the US did it in the 19th and early 20th century, they protected markets and invested in public goods like universal education, transportation and public health that brought the cost of doing business down. It's also the way the PRC is doing it now. They're copying us in the 19th century. The way we do it now, privatizing public goods and slicing and dicing the essentials of life with financial gimmickry, makes everything more expensive.
Too bad our economic masters favor wage arbitrage and bought off the political class. Ship sailed on America First, but maybe you can still have fascist government, as a little treat. They're still going to sell you down the river, but you'll at least be consoled to see your adversaries jailed by the people who are wrecking your dream too.
It's sort of all your side has at this point.
