Drummond to the Bulls. One less team interested in Jak.
True. But could the Spurs then facilitate a trade for Durant. There's nothing the Spurs could offer outside of Murray and Lavine that would translate into any meaningful wins for Brooklyn that gets them out of the bottom 5 in the league and sends their high draft picks to Houston.
I also don't want the Nets to be too bad as I don't want the Rockets to get loaded up on high draft picks over the next few years.

Would be comedy gold.
Spurs FO demanding king's ramson for Jak??
Imagine if the Lakers put together a package for Kyrie and Durant, but it was LeBron + Westbrook instead of AD.
That would actually the right move for the franchise, but we know Klutch is running the Lakers now.
Will teams ever learn that Drummond and Deandre Jordan are not good lol

Why we sure Poeltl's getting traded?
I couldn't believe the Nuggets when I saw the news. Jordan is literally the worst player in the NBA right now. He was taking the piss last season.
If spurstalk wasn't run on Slovenian serves I could use the search function to find the most I made back in March that Durant would ask for a trade in the off season after the show he's endured the last 2 years.
, find the post** I made
I'm still amazed people are still willing to give guys like Andre Drummond or DeAndre Jordan money, and people still talk around here like we overpaid for Poeltl
I'm by no means sure we trade Jak. Seems like what a rebuilding team would do, but as others (maybe even you, I believe) I don't think the Spurs think they are in full rebuild mode. I think the Spurs think they just got a good deal for Murray but can still compete.
Like with Murray, the Spurs will (I believe) trade Poeltl if the right trade comes by. The team isn't in tear-down mode. They're not going to get rid of him for nothing.
Do you question Timvp? He said so himself, the Spurs are trying hard to trade Poeltl.
I’m probably off but I still think Ayton makes sense for the spurs, we still wouldn’t be a good team with him but he’d be a major piece to the rebuild
He could get traded. They won't get rid of him to get rid of him.
After the draft, i was texting with friends on this issue. I said at the time I could totally see them extending him now. Obviously if they get a great return you trade the dude, but he really does fit what we are likely to be running and is a spur. We always prioritize these guys. If we extend him on a fairly reasonable deal he could always be moved in the future. I think he ends up staying now.
Losing Landale is significant. I'm not sure they dump Poeltl when there's only Zollins left. Even bringing in Jalen Smith doesn't help. There's developing young players and then developing them when there's absolutely no center to back up their perimeter defense.
The more I think about it, yeah poodle is staying and will likely get extended IMO. Charlotte drafted their center, so unlikely to deal now. I’m not really sure who out there will want to give up capital for him right now. With AYTON showing the lack of market for centers, I bet Jak takes a reasonable extension now. It’s in his interest.
I don’t think landale has anything to do with it IMO. I just think it really boils down to how the draft fell and having the good fortune of Atlanta being willing to overpay for DJ. The slate is clear and the market for a center like poodle in todays game although broad, is not willing to overpay. I agree with you though he could really help all these young long wings/guards develop better than the value of whatever first round pick we could get. Development is going to be king now for the next 3 years, and he seems to be the type of non ball dominate big that is a vet and a good team player who could really help these kids elevate over the next few years. On a reasonable extension he could be moved in the future if necessary. I am on board honestly
If the Spurs don't get a deal they like (such as 1st with moderate protections) I can def see a scenario where the Spurs extend Jakob for 3/$45m.
I think his trade value would actually go up in that scenario once he's trade eligible.
When would he become trade eligible if he signed an extension this off-season? Somewhere around mid-season?
December 15th.

Former Roseville HS big Mike Muscala is re-signing with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He can help mentor Minneapolis native Chet Holmgren. 1-year deal for vet minimum.
