THANK YOU...this guy purely bench warmer at this point...lol Degoat thinking he was important to Hawks...if spurs get into play in it won't be because of him it'll be the hard work n compe iveness of young guys
Pinche Pendejo, I’m not saying he was important to the hawks, I’m saying they were coming off an eastern conference championship appearance and viewed him as an important missing piece to building onto what they had already built. It’s a wasted roster spot that could be given to a guy to develop like a Robert Woodard, Isaiah Roby, Dominck Barlow

Barlow and I believe, Woodard can still be signed on a two way. This doesn’t impact those two. Roby… is not that impressive to begin with. The impact of signing Dieng is not seen through the individual itself but the team.

some of yall want to dig through the garbage bin thinking you’ll find a diamond, but most people would be happy if they found a dollar because people can use that dollar for practical purposes… that’s what this signing is.

With this summer’s transactions we are at 19.
That’s including Ca , Stewert and Woodard.

Ca , Stewert, Woodard, KBD, Weiskamp amd Langford. There are enough players at the end of the roster to cut and a good chance half of our remaining cap is used on guys who get bought out or waived immediately.

Barlow already has a two way deal so we have 1 slot left.

Spurs have signed Bryn Forbes to a $32M/2 year deal.

(Yes, I know Forbes thankfully already got signed by Minny)

If this is a one-year vet min, no problem at all. He won't be signed until later this off-season because his salary exceeds the roster charge, but no change to overall cap room the Spurs have to work with.

His locker room fit should be great. He's a man of the world from what I remember of last year's thread, someone Pop will certainly get along with, along with being a hard worker. His on-court skillset is also useful, especially for a bench big.

I like the signing. There are enough young/project bigs for now.

How nice of Dieng to spend 2 years of his career with our sinking ship

We picked up a roster spot in the exchange with ATL, so any of them have the same chance they did before the draft. Woodard was on a 2 way last time I checked, Barlow has been signed to one, and Roby doesn't belong to us so we can't develop him.

It was like 6 weeks last time, and hopefully will be about one season minus 6 weeks or a bit more this time.

And if any contender needs a mobile big who can shoot 3 come trade deadline, he could be worth a SRP, who knows?

EXACTLY. He signs a one year deal, and has veto power over any trades.

Who knows, they could even pull off another Thad/Toronto special using our own 2023 SRP which should be fairly decent.

    That’s more likely JRich.

Dieng has never been an impact player.

Spurs playing opportunistic right now just helps the end goal

The only concern I have is on the psyche of the players on the uncertainties. And not only if you’re over 25. Nobody’s really untouchables right now. And that could be on Keldon’s head also with the gloomy face on top of everything else, unless he’s been assured of next steps.

Getting draft capital for Dieng is pretty optimistic. Thad Young was a very positive player with a good impact on the game. He had value (as displayed by his new contract). Dieng just doesn't ring that bell.

lmao at anyone who thinks this signing will stop the tank. if there's a possible reason for this team to overachieve, it's gonna be because the young guys start to develop and have a breakout season. not because of gorgui dieng.

just texted Pop, voiced yalls concerns about Dieng taking Sochan's minutes, how we just can't afford another Splitter situation. He understood.

wtf do you guys want tho, lmao. This team shouldn't be signing any FAs or making any moves besides getting more draft picks for Jakob, McDermott, and Richardson. One year rental of a vet to teach a specific skillset to the rookies is good
