Well, at least the Spurs have two 19 year olds who can play -- Wesley and Barstow.

Kuminga is a preening, en led, smug punk. Perfect for the Warriors.

Primo struggled being the lead dog against defenders who'll play in the NBA. It happens. If he's going to be a top option, he's going to face bigger defenders. As a guy who's going to have to score through players, he'll need to learn how to deal with phone-booth moves.

I really liked Barlow and Days in addition to Wesley. The front court seems full, but Days would be my pick for SL member to get that second two-way. Seems to have the making of a 3-and-D big. Barlow looks like a center. He's still a young undeveloped center, but I think he has the frame to play there. I'd be curious to see what offense he can bring as a higher option. His fluidity there was supposed to be his biggest calling card, but his only notable plays were that sidestep three he canned and his fumbled dunk.

Primo is shooting under 15% on 14 shots. But, but, but … he can shoot …

    Thank god for Wesley
people were posting rookie highlight videos where a vast majority of the footage was showing him making 3’s when he shot them at a 30% clip for the year

Primo probably has to just be a Reggie miller type of player moving around screens to get free. he's not big like Pierce or Luka to create separation through contact.
Needs to learn how to use his body, handle and change of speed to separate from his defender. Guys were attached to him all night and he rarely got away from the initial defender.

And use counter moves to get pull - ups, step backs and floaters. Wasn't doing any of that and was just putting his head down into traffic.

Wesley has looked like the best player on the team these first two games. If he can keep it up, I believe he should be given the chance to compete with Tre Jones for that starting PG position on the big club.
It’s summer league compe ion. No shot he starts over Tre. Remember how well Jones performed in last years summer league too. Not to mention how well he held up starting in the nba

I liked Barstow. He has length and speed to bother and recover and he adjusted on Wiseman fairly well.

Primo shot better in the last game. Let's hope this was an anomaly. On the other hand, when I pointed out on another thread that his shooting stats for a YEAR were mediocre and he had no burst (looked like Slo Mo 2.0) all the Primativos were on my case saying give him some time. OK, we have nothing but time ahead of us to see what he can do. I really want him to succeed at some position, just maybe not at PG.

Primo scored 11 of his 20 points in garbage time with 3 minutes left in the 4th last game

I'm glad to hear Barlow made some good impressions with his play. I think he will be a good signing for the PF slot since we got him so cheap.

To be fair, White and Walker IV are far from rookies and both shot a similar piss poor percentage.

Seems like Primo will need to still play off someone else and isn't ready to be a main shot creator (if ever).

All the second year players from the spurs have performed well in the summer league except Primo. I don’t know if we should be concerned about his game.

For being the 25th pick Wesley has so far impressed.
For being the 12th pick Primo hasn't, even in his second year.

For the warriors Wiseman finally looked like a lottery pick.
That little pest Mcclung might just have secured a roster spot somewhere. The spurs could use someone like him at the point as opposed to slowmo 2.0 .

Primo was thoroughly outplayed by a younger teammate who didn't have the benefit of playing in the NBA last year. 2nd year players are supposed to look much better than the rooks. Primo looked worse: he can't defend, couldn't shoot, can't blow by his man, and should be an afterthought but for the spurs blowing the 9th pick on this .
He was the #12 pick, but even still, not looking like a great selection so far.

The main issue tbh is his lack of quickness, and slow reflexes. Defenders can press him 1-on-1 and he can't seem to get by them at all. Then on defense he seems painfully slow to react when the man he's guarding tries (and most often succeeds) to blow by him. Like I said earlier, it's great and all that he seems to have gotten taller and bulkier, but there's no way he's ever going to be able to play PG in this league when he looks slow on both ends of the floor even against Summer League compe ion. And he's not crafty enough, like SloMo was, to make up for that lack of quickness.

Dude simply does not look like a guy that was worth picking at #12 overall, and, unlike Wesley, there's not a lot to hang your hopes on considering his best trait--shooting--was a complete no-show today. A lottery pick who has spent a year in the league shouldn't be going 2 for 15 from the floor in the NBA Summer League, full stop.

Compared to what other 12th pick? He’ll be one of the best picks at that number in the last 20+ years! Book it

The good news about Primo is when we let him go in 3 years, I won’t have to argue with people that we probably shouldn’t have ing picked him

This was a very boring game. The highlight of the game was watching Dejounte and Parker's interviews. Primo still looks like a player who can only be average at best.

Lonnie Walker IV getting interviewed just now at Summer League. He says going to the Lakers is like soaking up all the championship history, or something like that.

The sniff is strong with this one. The previous year, Tyrese Halliburton went 12, so let’s start there.

Very interesting to me how every shot in those highlights went in the basket the same exact way. Did you notice that? Every shot gently hit the back iron and then straight downward. The motion of the net was nearly identical too. Oddly consistent. I dunno, maybe I’m reading too far into that.

Past 5 years (besides Primo): Jalen Williams, Haliburton, PJ Washington, Miles Bridges. He's 5th out of 5 and the distance to 4th is so large it isn't even funny. Put down the cr@ck pipe
