I'll let you ponder what these two sets represent in your cause vs correlation narrative. Magically you'll pretend there's none here.

Obviously states listed as 1 and 2 (and other similar states in the top 10) in both categories?

    So there's correlation.

For any point someone wants to make, the stats can be presented in ways that seem to support it. If you just say "correlation is not causation, but neither does it rule out causation." then you're basically trying to coax the reader to consider causation, and leave the door open for discussion on causation. I wonder if this is true for all correlation or only the ones that support your narratives?

The bottom set of stats are shooting fatality rate.

It's your correlation, you show causation. I haven't denied anything of the sort.

Are you denying connection between the firearm homicide rate in the states I listed vs the 2nd category where the states are ranked in the top 10 as well, even though you don't know yet what that category is? Do you need to know the category to know if there's causation? Shouldn't the fact that the rankings are the same hint at causation?

The term "connections" has been subs uted for "correlations". Correlation doesn't necessarily show connections but your attempt to shift the conversation to one with an already proven point (connection) is noted.

    Trying to word- the conversation

Correlation indicates a statistical relationship of two sets of data. This can be simply by chance, ergo no connection. So your request to change correlation to connection is denied. You've shown no connection, and it's questionable that you've shown even correlation. What's the other statistic that's being linked to road rage shootings?

When Bob eats breakfast, the sun is always in the east. Ergo the position of the sun is connected to bob eating breakfast.
