This is what I wanted out of the game against the GSW ... interesting that the Spurs were able to do that on a second night of a b2b and not when they were facing a team which was in that predicament. Well, Tre Jones helps I guess

Just bizarre reffing. Too often they're erratic and have no idea what they're doing.

Great effort. The non-tank side of me wants the young guys to win games like this and lose to the worse teams, but I’ll take this loss as we build our record towards that higher draft position.

It’s hilarious that Sochan seems like a better PG and decision maker than Primo ever was

Nice read. Having Tre is night and day both offensively and defensively. Sochan as backup PG also. And Poeltl aggressive will be worth the salary increase if he plays like this every night. Just need to learn how to close strong which was inexperience. But they’ll get there.

Purtle showed its stupid to trade him for crumbs…

i am ok if they keep him- but if they insist ontrading him - you have to ask for a minimum of 2- unprotected FRP’s

The Spurs barely got more than that for Dejounte, who actually made an All-Star game and is on a much better contract: more money but still not very much, and most importantly for an extra season.

If Poeltl still had one year after this year on his contract I think the Spurs would be getting good offers, and really good offers if it was two more seasons. I doubt teams will pay anywhere close to two unprotected firsts for Poeltl as a rental, and he 100% won't extend his contract because he stands to make far more in free agency (even if he stays with the Spurs).

One unprotected first with salary filler would be a coup imo. A lightly protected first with a young project (hopefully better than Langford) is probably the most the Spurs can realistically get.

You know, I was thinking the same thing. If we could only get our hands on a true point guard, that would relieve Trey, It could make a whole lot of difference. I know we have Wesley but he is injured and a rookie and pg is not Sochan's natural position although he is decent at it. Richardson is a decent guard but not a point so maybe the team can start shopping around for a point guard to swap Richardson for. Again I think it would make areal difference.

If poodle wants to stay in town they need to lock him up. If he wants to leave then they have to deal him as soon as a team dangles the FRP and prospect.

I'd target Burks. He obviously isn't true PG, but more of a true combo guard/shot creator than Richardson.

To Bucks: Richardson, to Pistons: Allen, to Spurs: Burks, Hill or Nwora and multiple 2nds (one from each).

Umm we trying to tank why we trying to mess that up by getting a PG? Just roll with the cats we got Tre, Diaw, Richardson, and Blake latter in the season.

    nah
    disagree

if all you can get is that ^

just keep him and re-sign him

otherwise spurs will end up getting another center worse than purtle and more expensive in the long run

I think if the Spurs could offer Poeltl something like $80M over the next 4 years right now both sides would take it. But Poeltl might change his mind in free agency and walk away, leaving the Spurs with nothing, so the Spurs might trade him after all not just to tank but to also get guaranteed value. Of course it depends on what they get in return.

You still need to put the youth in the best possible position to develop while doing so and they're going to want to maintain some good vets, both on and off court, surrounding them.

Whatever name they could realistically acquire shouldn't change much if anything in the standings. They'll have the power to control that by trading Poeltl and sitting (they won't shut down) key player's post All-Star break.

For all the talk of trading Poertl, what do you do for a center going forward if you dont get to draft the Unicorn. Are you happy with the rotation at center going forward of an oft-injured Collins, Bassey, Dieng???

Many here believe Bassey is the guy.... I think its way to premature to conclude that. We probably have to look to FA to fill that position, even if it's by platoon.

If they were okay with going with Jones as the lone true PG and stopgap, then they should be fine with Collins, Bassey and Dieng at C as stopgaps.

C is probably the most over saturated position in the league and as good as Poeltl is, he's not some elite one and for a team that could be picking high for a while, they should be able to minimally adequately replace him in relatively short order.
