The Republican who flipped NY-03 (Long Island) basically made up his entire life story and might not even be a US citizen.

Highlights:
- It's not clear if he has U.S. citizenship as he was probably born in Brazil and has outstanding charges for check fraud in Brazil
- Santos claims to have worked at Citigroup and Goldman - both firms say they have no records of him being an employee
- Santos claims to have gotten his BA from Baruch College & his MBA from NYU - both schools deny any record of him ever attending let alone graduating
- Santos claims to have Ukrainian Jewish grandparents who were holocaust refugees - all evidence suggests these grandparents were born in Brazil and aren't Ukrainian or Jewish
- Santos claims to be gay - he was married to a woman two weeks before he ran for office the first time
- Santos claims to have run an animal rescue charity - the IRS records show no evidence of that charity ever existing
- Santos claims he employed 4 people who were killed in the Pulse Nightclub shooting - this appears completely made up
- Santos's campaign filings claimed that he earned a $750,000 salary and over $1 million in dividends from his company, the Devolder Organization, but the Devolder Organization had been an inactive Florida LLC in bad standing up until a few days ago when this story broke and Santos paid the annual fee to renew it
It's unclear where all of his personal money and campaign money came from, but at least some of it came from a Russian oligarch's cousin funneling it to him through PACs:

After trump - truth is not really a "thing" anymore for the GOP ( Govt of Putin) tbh...
The GOP being a party that’s completely agnostic to the truth and willing to lie incessantly in order to win elections dates back to Regan. Trump was just an escalation of that, and now con artists like Santos and JR Majewski who just wholesale fabricate their life story are the latest symptom of the GOP deciding 50 years ago to become a bull factory that convinces people tax cuts for billionaires will trickle down to them.

In all seriousness, he has had like a week to address this and all he has done to my knowledge is put out a weak, canned statement from his lawyer. Not a good look.

So that stuff didn't get exposed until after he was elected? Usually the media catches on to at least something during the campaigns.
