Hopefully Deeps is okay with another long-term deal...

I'm kidding. I'm assuming he is fine with it because it's cheap and Bass is young.

Anyway, I like the Hinkie special, though I think his upside is way more capped than it originally seemed. I don't think he'll be one of those Dort/Cov/Grant contracts that people think are gold even though they never get traded. Feel more like he'll play out his deal as a third-stringer and then move on.

Pretty curious about who the second two-way player will be at this point. Any good d-leaguers out there?

Spurs got 22 and 19 yrs old in the pipeline with a lot of upsides. I think Wright got this one right!

it gets even better: only 2 years guaranteed, Spurs have an option to guarantee his 3rd and 4th year of the contract. They are completely non-guaranteed

I remember a highly intelligent and humble poster who claimed a while back that he'd eventually receive a contract somewhat similar to Eubanks, just can't think of exactly who it was . . .
Great to see you can still suck your own in such a skillful way after all these years.

hahah he would also highly recommend his talent here. Best he’s ever had

Relative to Eubanks deal it’s a better deal (for both sides) for a better prospect at the end of the day. Everyone wins here.

Lol - Bingo. Young guy, cheap deal and already proven he can at least be a 3rd center and whether he becomes more or not it’s a solid value (especially learning how his deal is structured)

For those asking if there are any wings we are looking at for the last 2-way, apparently we are planning on playing Bassey at Guard, so no worries

Edit: if you click the photo, it expands and lists him as a Guard.

Two inches shorter though lol. Ian never did anything very well from
my recollection. Bassey has a crazy knack as a rebounder to start.

Remember the times when folks would go off on how there was no way this same Spurs FO would trade DeRozan instead of resigning him, much less Dejounte, absolutely no way they were gonna commit to a rebuild and stick through it? Good times.

    Great signing.

I'm personally surprised they got him for four years with two as team choice. I thought he'd go for shorter to get a better deal once he shows himself. And I think he's going to blow up. Not an all-star, but he's good.

I love where the spurs head is at overall right now with taking some gambles on scrap heap guys.

Yeah, Roby has been a disappointment but didn’t cost anything and it was a worthwhile swing. But Collins has been reclaimed and seems like a value (even if he’s not a starter), Stanley Johnson even did well here although ultimately released and Bassey has done well too.

Spurs churning that lower end, taking some risks on guys that have some upside but making sure they protected themselves with the contracts. Keep it up

Agents have been pretty damn good at telling their clients to come here and build your future. He probably doesn’t blow up here or anywhere else but unless he has a job at a contender lacking his skillset he might as well develop here…

It was reported today Grant Williams seeks 20/yr on his next contract.

People think Bassey's stock was way higher than it was. $5 Million guaranteed is a lot of money for a guy who was at risk of being out of the league. He has a lot to prove before he's going to be able to negotiate at that level. Plus this is basically $5 Million for a season and a third. In case it wasn't clear this isn't an extension. It's a conversion.

Still waiting to see if this year counts because if so as much money that can go to him this rest of season the better since SA is paying to get to floor either way. So makes it “free” money for SA this season.
