I think it's more on him, he needs to be more decisive wanting to get the ball and play harder to get open and put himself in good situations
It’s actually on the coaching staff. They need to stress that he’s the best player, and needs the ball in most situations.
Don’t be stupid.
he's being very lackadaisical out there and he needs to fix that, coaching staff can't make him a vocal point until he's changing his mindset
Wonder if Wama is purposely not mixing it up hard.
Knowing his team is simply overmatched, going to lose badly and
1. He is not a Spur at this point in time. Not under contract. If he gets injured, zero $ coming his way short of whatever that Frenchie team / league pays to players injured in the line of duty.
I mean sure the Spurs would still draft him, but it would be a disastrous setback.
Even worse the Chet. At least Chet had already become an Okie.
Happy medium needs to be found. Sure he doesn't want to play like a pansey. But going out and getting Zazad is beyond re ed.
The cold truth is that Monaco is a much better squad than Wemby's Mets92. Its a huge gulf between the two teams. Monaco is a well oiled machine and plays like a playoff NBA team - screen setting, cutting, passing, ball movement, player movement all seem very drilled into the team's rhythms. Mets92 looks like an amateur squad in that respect. I dont know why, maybe Bruno can explain.. is it because Monaco has a team that was built over time and the fact they played in EuroLeague helped them gel together? Mets92 dont seem to stand a chance. This is not to say that Wemby is overrated personally.. He just isn't in a system that maximizes his ability against a team like Monaco.
That game showed that you cant just rely on Wemby for all the points. Hopefully the Spurs can find another guy that takes up a lot of usage. All the nonsense about how we cant have another high usage player is unfounded.
Mets' team salary: $2.6M
Monaco's team salary: $11.6M
That's the obvious explanation.

Vassell not that guy on offense? Feels like he showed potential to be an effective scorer off multiple actions when healthy.
Not sure if he is or isnt. But i dont think we should wait to figure out. We should stockpile talent like that because it breeds compe ion and eventually one will rise to the top.
Or, "I was wrong. That is literally what he said. Sorry about that."
Also, I'm pretty sure the first time Victor plays with the Spurs will be the first time he plays on a team with an NBA player. Monaco has several NBA players.
Monaco is just a better team with better players and built for Euroleague with a €20M+ budget, a €10.8M salary mass and a 5K seat arena (I know, that's low) under the field in the football club arena. Monaco is also known as "Monte Carlo" abroad, which is actually a neighborhood of the Principality.
The Mets have a €7M+ budget (3 times less), with a €2.5 salary mass (4 times less) with a 4K seat arena (rarely sold out) and badly overachieved this season... They weren't expected to be that high in the standings, much less in the finales, specially with their financial issues at the end of the previous season... Basketball isn't very bankable in France, with football compe ion, and still a bit amateurish or familial for the majority of the clubs (except, Monaco and TP's ASVEL). Many of the top french league clubs are located in smaller cities where there's no big football team...

Because a 23 year old 7' 270 player that came from London and started his basketball career at Pacific university is exactly like Wemby.
Obviously. But it's not because he's a big. Even Doncic, about as good a creator currently, needs Irving or someone like that.
It doesn't matter who it is, one is never enough.
I'm reminded of an incident in the late 80's when I was trying to trade for Mitch Webster in my Rotisserie baseball league.
My offer was rebuked by the statement, "Mitch Webster is God."
I can now (belatedly) reply, "Victor Wembanyama is God."
Having someone like Murray would be great, as Denver is proving.
you'll never get that self righteous to ever admit he's wrong, he legit thinks he's the smartest poster on this board![]()
I guess we will have to just keep kicking that dead horse, then.
I know it's just a French League playoff game tomorrow that no one cares about.
But this will be a test. This will be a harbinger.
This may tell us what we got. I look forward to it.
The old saw is that great players never have two bad games in a row (at least in meaningful situations).
Tomorrow looms large.
I look for Wembanyama to kill it tomorrow (even if his team loses).
^ I hear you man, but at this point I just want to get him here in one piece!
It's pretty much true.
He can make some good threads and have some good convos and takes, but when he digs down he digs deep and becomes a super-asshole.
