NBA Summer League 2023

I had to re-read the thread, but it seems like that's consistent with what everyone's already been saying (skip Sac on July 3-5 and play a couple games on ESPN in Vegas July 7th & 9th)

I don't see a reason to play him in all the summer league games. Vegas sounds fine. Plus there are other players that need to be evaluated more than to see if they will make the roster

Probably play him the first two games in Vegas and then send him and Sochan back to SA.

The NBA is having there own version of Comic Con - I think the July, 7th to 9th? Wemby I have heard has agreed to attend the event - I think they are calling it NBA Con in Las Vegas.

There will be tremendous pressure from the league to have him participate in Summer League. Likewise from the media. You don't bring a generational talent into the league and hide him away for months if you can get him in front of the public in Summer League.

He'll play in Vegas. It won't be because of pressure, but because it's what Victor and the Spurs agreed was the best thing to do. Spurs don't really care about league pressure because of television. Remember them packing up 3 starters and a top reserve and sending them home in advance of a NT game in Miami? Made Stern look stupid when he fined them before the game, and they almost won anyways.

Looking forward to seeing Blake Wesley, Sir’Jabari, and Cissoko play. Wanna get a gauge on all 3. Hopefully all 3 of those guys get heavy minutes. Really hoping Blake takes another step this year. He’s the wildcard of this team imo.

Saw that roster and initially thought it was for the whole Summer League (including Vegas)…thought the Spurs were giving a massive middle finger to the league

Even the California Classic games should be super interesting between Wesley/Branham/Cissoko + the fringe guys like Champagnie and Barlow.
