CA and WA USAs' declining to bring charges isn't necessarily running interference. They could've seen a losing case as clearly as anyone.
And I have no idea why the Trump DOJ was running interference for Hunter Biden if that, in fact, happened. You need to ask them.

Convictions are far from guaranteed. Infinite hung juries are more likely. USAs don't do that.
