European countries are welcome to continue giving aid to Ukraine. We've committed more military aid to Ukraine then all of them combined. If Ukraine scales back or abandons its counter-offensive ambitions and preserves the forces that were to be committed to that, then it will still have a lot to defend the territory that isn't already occupied by Russia and wouldn't need nearly as much aid. Russia is in a defensive posture anyway, because it's simply trying to hold on to the territories it currently occupies. Putin's goals have changed because reality has changed. Russia has clearly abandoned its ambitions of "taking Kiev" because of all the losses they've taken.

I want to see Ukraine work towards a ceasefire, but like I said, Russia wants that to lock in territorial gains and therefore Ukraine doesn't want that -- not while it continues to receive so much from the West.
We have contributed very little compared to the rest based on GDP.
As No No said, this is a long term investment for us economically because we will have even more say on keeping commerce open. This is why we continually infringe upon China's artificial barriers in the South China sea. One of the most 5 most important shipping lanes exists there. And this is a ton of money we have put in over the years to keep this Pacific fleet up and running. We will not have our commerce disrupted. This IS the economic view.

As far as the war view: Russia will not stop at Ukraine. Look at their recent history in the region. They need a beat down badly. And they are getting it and need to be continually degraded.

And a big STAR for you. Thank you for arguing sincerely. We need this sort of thing happening more often. No joke, thanks for your input. Our military does a very bad job of inventory checking and waste. see videoabove

Again, you take away that aid and that defensive posture goes back on the offense. You seem to put all the onus on Ukraine and not consider Russia's position, goals, or culpability.

...they already got the 20%, water access in the south and that Zap nuclear plant.

Ukr/Nazi's need those American aviators in those fighter jets. Go ahead, try it, you won't believe what'll happen next even as it's happening.

I don't envision a greatly diminished and now mostly conscript Russian army marching back to try to "take Kiev".

Russia can play defense effectively but little else. Ukraine has enough to defend what it currently has with aid that is much more limited, and it'll still get more Leopard tanks, artillery s s and fighter jets from Europe that have already been committed.

Again they cannot perform offensive operations because of said aid. We stop providing anti air and artillery support and Russia will be able to use the combined arms tactics that to this point they have not been able to. You would essentially be allowing the Hinds and Su-30's free reign, remove the ability for Ukraine to go after their supply infrastructure, and seriously mitigate the Ukrainian ability to repel assaults.

Russia has a long history of winning by throwing 'conscripts' into the meat grinder.

How the do you think they beat the Nazi's in 2? The meat grinder. We sure weren't gonna do the wet work. We sure weren't gonna hit the White men with a nuke and then...Truman: "Again."

Now? The Nazi's are back in there, well, been in there the entire time. And we knew it all the time.

Why is this important? The HIMARS missiles, PATRIOT batteries and missiles, Javelins, artillery s s, and on and on that we donate have to be replaced at our expense. Of course this also potentially risks our own readiness to meet our various global defense treaty commitments because the replacements can't be manufactured quickly enough.
What we have given them ammunition aside, has been older stuff in storage that was ultimately just costing us money, and that we were going to have to pay to dispose of anyway.

Totaling it all up and it is a small fraction of what we spend EVERY YEAR. We have sacrificed practically nothing in terms of security, and gotten to destroy one of our longtime rivals where they will never recover from.

Further, we have figured out (yet again) that we aren't making enough arty ammo. This lessen gets learned by every country that goes to war.

Iran backs Japan’s call for Kuril Islands talks with Russia amid Moscow ‘betrayal’ in Gulf territorial dispute

A top Iranian official has expressed support for Japan's call for negotiations with Russia over the disputed Kuril Islands, amid feelings of betrayal in Tehran over Moscow’s backing of the UAE demand for talks over three Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf.

Kamal Kharrazi, head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, told Japan's ambassador to Tehran that the best resolution to the territorial dispute over the four southernmost Kuril Islands annexed by Russia after WWII would be through “direct negotiations”.

Iran's decision to add to tensions over the Kuril Islands disagreement might hint that all is not well in the political, economic and defence cooperation that has sprung from Tehran's supportive approach to Moscow over the Russia-Ukraine war, which has included the delivery of hundreds of Iranian attack drones to the Kremlin. There is some speculation that Iran is unhappy that Russia has failed to deliver it military kit including Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets, while Tehran could also be wary of the consequences of being too closely aligned with Russia as its international isolation deepens.
