He has different qualities, but Hayes can become better than Jones.

He's shown virtually nothing in 3 years. There's no reason to think he will suddenly get better.

Good playmaker, doesn’t turn the ball over, good defender. He just needs to be confident with his shoot and he can be good.

He's a worse shooter than Tre, picked 34 picks later in the same draft. Killian's ORtg is 95. Tre's is 117. To put your eggs in the improvement basket, you have to first see some. Killian has shown no shooting improvement in 3 full seasons.

I’ll take Tre over Killian any day. Tre is a solid PG, smart with low TO ratio. He may not be a starter on a contender, but he could be a solid backup, an extension of the coach out there.

Wemby will be fine. That scrimmage was more pick up than organised BB with eveyone calling their own number and wanting to showcase themselves. That's always unfair to big guys who barely see the ball or in bad conditions, just like in pick up games. I've seen a Wemby trying to be available and offering screens that were often ignored.

Come season time, there will be a clear hierarchy and plays called for Wemby. Lots of guys who got some good burn yes ay will barely see the court. I mean, didn't see the whole game, but you know there's a problem when you see only one lob and barely any picknrolls with Vics. That's criminal, but that's what happens in those scrimmage, like it did in Wemby's first SL game. Spurs staff corrected that and Vic scored 27... Those scrimmages mean crap but often make 3rd stringers look good, like Wesley reportedly killing a pre
But that's also why I really believe that team would benefit form a vet PG who can get things right, too many wild horses wanting to be da man over there... Anyway, we should expect a bunch of Devin/Vicotr pnrs during the season.

Don't tell monkey boy that. Dude's ready to write off half the team's career after that scrimmage.

no kidding, he scouted that scrimmage as if it was game 2 of the NBA finals

The 2023 Silver & Black Open Scrimmage is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7 at 5PM., at the AT&T Center, presented by Ticketmaster. The free event features an intra-squad scrimmage and gives fans a chance to watch the 2023-24 team in action prior to the season home opener on Oct. 25 vs. Dallas.

Not too fond of this part....

Unique this year, the Silver & Black Open Scrimmage will be a ticketed event. While still free, fans will need to join the Official Spurs Fan Club for a chance to win (4) tickets to the Open Scrimmage. Deadline to join and enter to win tickets is Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 11:59PM CT.

Can't Attend in Person? Check-in on October 7 to Stream Live!

i signed up but didn't win tickets. Apparently season ticket holders got first tickets first then it was a drawing for the rest of the true fans!

They were trying, but Pop wasn't. Effort is only some of the equation. Pop would pull the good defenders late in the game, or outright sit them out.
Oh OK. Yeah I think I remember seeing some of that last year. I hope you are right!

Nope, I don't want Fournier. And I'm not asking for Hayes because he's French. I just believe he could be a good fit, no matter his nationality.

i must have misunderstood this post

Fournier already showed in preparation games for the World Cup with France that he isn't washed up at all. He has just been put in the closet by Thib'. Considering his love for the game you can be sure he will give all he has in his future NBA team. And he's still a very good player. I agree he doesn't play at a position we need, but bringing a French veteran next to Wembanyama could be a very good idea.

    You misunderstood indeed.

I just said bringing a French player could be a good thing for Wembanyama, and also for the Spurs if some of you are afraid he might leave after his rookie contract. But I’d rather have Hayes because he fits the process we’re in.

And since you wrote Hayes, Fournier, etc… Can you tell me which other French player I said I wanted with the Spurs ?

That’s pretty weird from a guy supporting a franchise so much tainted by French culture with all the French players who played there, and are still playing, to on French guys like that.

im not ting on french guys. i just dont think Hayes is a good player and he's had a few NBA years to show notable improvement. the extent of the french angle here is that you understandably have a soft spot for french players and i think its part of the reason you would like to see Hayes

also in that post, you werent generically talking about "french players" as a concept. the whole post was about Fournier. "And he's still a very good player. I agree he doesn't play at a position we need, but bringing in a French veteran next to Wembanyama could be a very good idea"

it was clearly about Fournier. now saying that you didnt mean you wanted the spurs to add Fournier just seems disingenuous

You’re about to make me believe that I understand English better than you, me, a French guy…

« bringing a French veteran next to Wembanyama could be a very good idea »

If you read correctly, I said that Fournier plays at a position we don’t need. And then I said that brining A French veteran could be a good idea, not specifically Fournier.

Now believe whatever you want, I absolutely don’t give a . Even if I wanted Fournier, the way you said that tends to show that I just want French players at the Spurs, whatever their position or talent is, and that I don’t understand about basketball.

I have been following this franchise since early 90´s, when you were probably not even born (considering what you say), so clearly you opinion doesn’t matter to me.

I didn’t say you just want French players or that you don’t understand ball. I suggested you were partial to French players, which I’ll stand by. There’s nothing wrong with that. I think looking at the Fournier post and pretending that wasn’t you advocating bringing him over to the spurs is disingenuous at best.

but oh well you are old and that’s the automatic winner in an argument i guess

And would that be surprising for a French citizen to support and prefer French players in the best league in the world ? Of course I follow these guys, but that doesn’t mean I want all of them playing for the franchise I support.

And I’m not the type of guy saying that since I’m older than you you must respect me. Just admit that you message saying « he likes Hayes because he’s French tbqh, also advocated for bringing in Fournier, etc… » was an inappropriate shortcut. You make me look like an idiot who doesn’t get basketball, wether you admit it or not.

No it just says you are partial to French players. Which is fine, and you admitted. Sure i phrased it in a cheeky way. But you still pretending that your Fournier comment wasn’t advocating for the spurs to pick him up isn’t just being snarky, it’s dishonest.
