It is difficult to wave away the plain meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment, though I suppose the appointment of a sufficient number of motivated judges could work around that.
Or, it could just be on par with equally implausible Democratic calls to do away with the Electoral College or equal state representation in the Senate.

This all started back in the 1800’s when Britain was envious of the Russian and French spheres of influence in the Ottoman Empire and sought to carve out its own.
The polity of the Ottomans was organized not just geographically, but by ethnicity and religion. Orthodox Christians had their own sub-government, as did Catholics. They also allowed expats in their territory their own sub-governments aligned to their native country. This created an opportunity for the Russians to carve out economic and diplomatic influence by appointing themselves the protectors of the Orthodox Christians. The French followed suit with the Catholics.
The British wanted to play, too, but there really weren’t any Anglicans or other Protestants to speak of. So with their draft pick they selected the Jews. And since more Jews in the Ottoman Empire meant more influence, they became enthusiastic sponsors of Zionism.
Dispensationalism was invented about this same time. Since it aligned with British foreign policy, it was tolerated and even promoted in the Church of England, and through the Scofield Study Bible, eventually spread to the United States where it became the dominant view in American Protestantism.
Fast forward to the end of World War I. The Ottoman Empire collapsed, and the victorious British and French carved up the Levant under “mandates.” The British took control of the Holy Land with promises to set up independent states that quite frankly they never intended to honor. I guess they imagined in their hubris that the Jewish settlers and Arabs would be so enamored of enlightened British rule that they never would agitate for independence. Instead, they constantly agitated.
The Balfour Declaration says nothing about a Jewish state, but rather only a “national home” for the Jews. All along, this was intended to be under British control.
Fast forward to the end of World War II. The British, exhausted from fighting the Nazis, no longer can afford their empire. They need to cut and run from their most restive territories — India and Palestine. So they concoct half-baked par ion schemes that result in massive ethnic cleansing. In Palestine, they use their friends in the nearly created UN to cover for them with a story that the Jews deserve their own state because of the Holocaust. There is a whole dog-and-pony show to pretend that other territories were considered. The point all along was to get Britain out of there.
In the United States, where Dispensationalism had taken hold, American Protestants supported the creation of Israel, believing from the get-go that it represented fulfillment of prophecy and advancement toward the return of Jesus Christ. Evangelical influence, along with American support for Britain, explains America’s enthusiastic support for creating Israel.
This makes more sense than Bibi's ruling coalition leading the war, and it also saves him the trouble of resigning, which would be the normal thing to do following such an epic fail.
