Not to mention that those moderates are a huge part of why you have this very slim House majority in the first place. You're never winning districts in NY with Jordan-types.

But we talked about this. The GOP is fractured and leaderless. This is why deranged ideas like making Trump the House speaker start to make sense, they have no idea how to govern unless mini dictator tells them what to do.
Racist VRA Section 2 (only applies to the South, giving the Dems an unfair advantage with maps) and GOP state legislatures drawing spinelessly bad maps in states like Kansas/Nebraska/Missouri is the real problem... if the Nebraska GOP for instance had a spine then all three separate electoral college votes and districts would be at least R+20 and someone like Bacon would either have to cave to the MAGA base or else get primaried out.

More Dems flipping to McHenry would sure be interesting

McHenry is to the right of McCarthy; he demoted Pelosi from her VIP office in the capitol building day 1 of his interim speakership a couple weeks back.

What you're readily admitting is that conservative ideas du jour are so terrible that if you don't furiously gerrymander, you have no chance. This is exactly what I mean when I say democracy isn't working for Republicans anymore.

Does Dale just spend all day hitting control + R nonstop in the political forum on ST or what? sad existence
I think his wife is either sick and his reading room times are him taking care of her or she gets sick of him spending all day on the computer and takes it away from time to time so he'll come play canasta with her and friends.

He's just a lonely old Boomer with no one to talk to but us. Chris' existence is much sadder.

What’s funny is McHenry is definitely less conservative than McCarthy. If he somehow ends up as speaker then the whole Gaetz charade accomplished nothing.

You taught all that gerrymandering materiel, El. We just never used it till Trump made President.

Now, NOW, now you want us not to do it, you want it all to yourself.

    Get bent, fart-face.

He lasted all of 2 days after swearing on the Good Book he'd never speak of me, or speak to me again as long as he lived.

This is really an elegant statement, succinct and crystal clear:
Democracy is not working for Republicans anymore.

They got Trump in democratically, the only way someone like Trump could ever find a position so powerful is through democracy. But the red team lost 2020 democratically, and had been using extreme measures (many of which are absolutely illegal) while Trump was in office so the direct conclusion is democracy does not work. The rule of law and voting just dont allow us to change this country quickly and profoundly enough. The Supreme Court is helping a great deal, but even then, there are some members who actually take the law into account... Members who actually think about democratic consequences and careful weigh very important themes.

No vote on the house today. Jordan already folding his cards like the weak putz he is. GOP is in shambles... this is two speakers they've failed to elect WITH a house majority.

More Dems flipping to McHenry would sure be interesting

Bull . McHenry didn't back the Big Lie. He might be a conservative but he's no Trump loyalist, and him elevating to the SotH would be a huge blow for Trump & Co.

I believe it did accomplish something.
It showed a party being held hostage by a few nuts is not viable in a part of a democratic government with so many members.

    Possible conclusion for the nuts:
So just let Trump rule everything.
I believe the social invalids of this forum would agree. Thread, goboom, Hemispheric confusion...

Precisely! Trying to put lipstick on a pig is time wasted. Just keep trying to jam J in there and in the mean time ascertain the next attack dog that can be ins uted if need be.

Pride goeth before the fall. This is the same type mistake made by the old man before this last election///refusing to accept the mail in boxes and ordering us to them in droves. It was cataclysmic.

Though we did take the House and Governorship's last time out.

But your point has validity. You ed Democracy six way to Sunday when Trump made President in the rapt belief that once out of office you could put the pieces back together again as they were during Hussein and before.

    Dad, uh, uh. Never again.

How bout you, bene, chasing a 70-year-old man around for many years because you're like in love with me, not wise, but some other wise. You're fascinated with my and can't get over it, so you hurt me. It's human, ya cutie pie. You're adorable.

Red Wave was supposed to be in 2022 also, as a backlash against Biden. The GOP was supposed to have 5+ Senators in the Senate and nearly a supermajority in the house according to themselves/their supporters.
