This one was worse. Because we clearly had no hope against a pretty average team at the end of the day. We played bad turnover basketball and our franchise player doesn't get the touches he needs.
Was only able to catch the first half man how the tides shifted.
Spurs draw an L spurstalks melts down. Another day per usual.
This was always going to be a experiment with the current roster this season.

so the Spurs should make a trade when they are 3-47?
Time to tank!

Let's be honest... If we saw this from ANY other coach in the league, we would call them the worst
They should make a trade when it makes sense. We're not going to go deep in the playoffs this season even if we traded for a borderline all star pg. So there's no reason to dump valuable assets unless it makes sense. Look at all these teams that have gutted their draft stock. Patience is important.
With that said I'm more than open to seeing a trade. It just needs to make sense.
Mark my words... Sohan will be PG the entire season... One thing Pop will NOT do is admit he was wrong
We see it all the time. I'd rather see this experiment and maintain our draft stock than do what the Clips are doing. OKC sat on their team for nearly 3 years while they built it up.

OKC is just as young and they have been looking competent for years now... They actually have an offensive structure and they actually play their players in the positions they belong
You have to get tired of getting your ass kicked
haha great response to an honest question sir! I’m all for getting another lottery pick tbh but if this isn’t voluntary I’m a tad concerned.
Have you watched OKC? they've always played with structure and had their players in the correct position... They NEVER looked as bad as the Spurs look right now... They actually ran an offense that benefited their guys
Honestly im surprised by his response.
i figured it would have been one of those sarcastic pressers or where he just goes into politics.
now saying what he said, what can be done to fix this??
and whos to say that they arent getting tired of getting whooped. Perhaps they just are unable to stop the bleeding from a lack of talent. they simply aren't good enough. and part of it is playing payers out of position. and another is that there is ZERO floor leader. How badly one is needed. It is so apparent. On offense and on defense.
Wemby has been stronger on the boards the past few games. Now if he can just cut down on the terrible shots and turnovers. Devin looks OK, but the rest of these idiots don't know how to hoop at the NBA level.
Howdy! I’ve missed you guys and the Spurs being on TV :-)
Yup you nailed it.
To your point. I can’t imagine they don’t see the deficiencies which maybe means that what they are doing is deliberate but I don’t know, I am speculating.
Hear me out, in the past Pop liked to have so many guard prospects on the pipeline that he seemingly ac ulated them on the bench and would try them out for minutes here and there. He helped develop quite a few guards through the years this way. However after dealing out Derozan, Murray and White he didn’t seek a stand in replacing the ball handling which is unusual. I wouldn’t think having no PG or at least legit guards/ballhandlers would suit his style. It seems to me to be a Wright preference. The only guard “high prospect” they he’s drafted is Primo, who was a weird choice to begin with, because he played more like a wing. Anyways, Wright seems to want to build a particular type of team that’s bigger, but he’s sacrificed ballhandling and playmaking to an extreme degree.
Going into the season without addressing that problem seems kind of intentional in context, because even if you aren’t anywhere near ready to compete in the playoffs, you at least need to start thinking of a system around your franchise player. I don’t think their guard prospects are anything to write about with the exception of Jones, who is simply a solid backup or low level starter but he should be starting considering… But they need to be fishing in for prospects as you say.
The other aspect is something that no one mentions but it’s the fact you also can’t develop a ton of lottery picks at a time and place them all in a position to succeed… like Sochan needs minutes. He’s a recent lotto pick, who’s young and has some potential, but in the need to find him minutes are they perhaps just slotting him wherever they can to plug a hole? Just trying to figure it out.
Also the Spurs are probably playing guys who aren’t NBA caliber… I am not familiar enough with the deeper bench guys but no one stood out.
I said it b4 but it does look like the Spurs have several not NBA caliber players getting heavy minutes. They have injuries but it’s too painful to watch. They looked like a G league team last night.
It already makes sense. We are hindering the development of our number 9 pick last year by playing him at point guard and the development of our number 1 pick this year by not making sure he has a competent point guard with him on the floor.
Right or wrong that’s simply the opinion of an asshole online who calls himself poop. Clearly the FO and coaches see differently until they don’t.
For the record I don’t think any of this experiment hurts Sochan. Now if they carry this experiment into next year with no change in results you’d have a lot more valid argument.
I do see some things that Jeremy is doing differently and arguably better in the last couple of games that he wasn’t doing in the few games previously sans the season opener.
He has regained a bit of his offense and is picking up the dribble later than he was previously.
But I’d like to see this experiment wind down by the trade deadline whether we get another pg or not.
I happen to agree that the Sochan experiment should end asap/ However, whatever happened to the posters who thought we knocked it out of the park by picking up Wesley and Malaki? Do you still feel those guys are gonna be good to great players for us.???
It shouldn't be an experiment at all. No other coach / front office / team is even stupid enough to try it in the first place.
Let's spend half a season trying to make something work that everyone already knows isn't going to work.
My biggest issue with them trying to make sochan a PG is that they are forcing him to be a starting PG.
Thats ridiculous.
Even if Tre is not your longterm answer at PG, you don't force Sochan to play against the other teams best players right away in a position he has not played.
For Sochan, get his feet wet by playing him against the 2nd string first.
Even G-league wouldn't be a terrible option. Just so that he can practice without worrying about the consequences of his mistakes.
I'm just saying, if they truly are dedicated to trying to make Sochan a starting PG, then they should take all the proper measures to make sure he succeeds. Making him starting PG is not the answer.
For those who have said that it might be a Bright Wright decision, you might be on to something.
Pop has ALWAYS loved midget ball. He usually trots out 2 to 3 PG's on the court lol. So this is very un Pop like. Very unusual tbh
Malaki was a good pick at 20 in that he could have an NBA career. Good skills. He is just too passive right now still in my opinion.
"bucks" forced Giannis "in a position he didn't play" in the 15/16 season
and he was the starting point guard in 23 games
no one died or retired
Ok so we're tanking, but who for? What top 5 prospect is Pop/Wright interested in that were throwing away another season for? We'll probably reach for another project that won't pan out again.
Get rid of Wright! RC needs to be GM again! It's embarrassing to see this team with no PG or decent center! They have no defense other than Wemby and the rest don't know how to handle the ball! Bunch of ball hogs and no way should Collins get the ball that much, he's weak and defenders take the ball out of his hands and he's also plays no defense! How many times did he leave his man open for a 3 pointer! Most of those players on the floor are not NBA ready players! Disgraceful!
