You’re a perfect example of a poster whose only knowledge of nba basketball comes through the Spurs. All of you guys with posts in the five digits should essentially be ignored. Your concept of basketball revolves around one team. Sad
Wemby looks tired and possibly injured in my humble opinion.
Vassell just is very streaky. He had a stretch of games when "healthy" just this season where couldn't knock in a three, for instance. He's NOT a #2, now or for the near foreseeable future (at least 1-2 seasons). He very well may be one day, but on a different time line than what Wemby needs.
Wemby needed vet presence and assistance and a true scorer on the team THIS season. The Spurs are simply built badly, and there's fingers to be pointed now more than ever for this terrible botched season. I blame PATFO and it's pretty obvious to me that IS where the blame should be placed, not a gassed, tired, possibly injured rookie or even a Vassell being asked to punch a lot higher than he should be expected to.

wtf you talking about
There’s a lot of posters here who have takes I disagree with and are annoying as , but at least they have posts of substance. Meanwhile, you do nothing on here except stupid one-liners and criticizing other people. You’re shallow as and aren’t capable of having any intelligent discussion. People who focus on other people and can’t discuss ideas are lemmings tbh. Even Pauleta for example has posts where he’s explaining his perspective no matter of a Wemby homer he is… then there’s people like you who are simpletons and enjoy talking trash online because your life is pathetic.
Your life revolves around a message board, bro. Who are you calling pathetic?
I like good basketball. Sorry if that concept is too complicated for you.
I almost never trash talk online. You, on the other hand, are obsessed with me. The spurs suck, they have sucked for a long time now. Pretending they don’t won’t make your life better. Pretending bad players are good won’t make your life better. If criticism of the spurs hurts you so much, reevaluate your life.
Also, I see five digits in your post count. Not a surprise.
So u didn’t even take a few seconds to think about it before posting did u?
I’ve been a Spurs dans since before TD so try something else. This is by very far the worst Spurs team or even roster (aside Wemby) I’ve ever seen. You think I’m just going to pretend otherwise just bc a few of you are emotional or delusional and defensive?!?
Yes, it took me a couple weeks to be sure and still haven’t changed my mind, no I du aside Wemby is worth developing on this roster…
also bc you clearly are missing the whole picture let me reassure you, Wemby isn’t perfect and yesterday had a bad game. Do you feel better? Relieved?
Now keep hoping Sochan’s IQ, Tre’s PG abilities or Vassell reliability will suddenly develop them into top players if you want. I’m old enough to know ppl don’t change. At best they’ll limit a buy but Sochan will still be the same moron at 30…
I haven’t cared about what people say about the Spurs, in fact, I trash the Spurs more than most people here. Have I pretended Collins is good? I’m his biggest hater here. You’re the one who quoted me, dumbass. You assumed so hard that I’m some sort of Spurs supporter which tells me you’re focused on a group of individuals… which, like I said, you’re focused more on what people think than actually having thoughts of your own. You’re an idiot, plain and simple.
Dejounte in a childish idiot, he has zero nuance in his “analysis” and gourd ad hominem all the time.
“exposed”
another one said Wemby was a and “soft mentally”
They already take him for granted lmao
Not sure anyone serious said he was ready but more readier than a regular rookie and the process should be accelerated.
it’s still the case
it’s a correlation/causation situation imo, a lot of the issues Wemby has ate more correlations and the result of this absurd roster’s inabilities than just Wemby’s limitations.
of course he needs to strengthen his body and get better as some fundamentals etc
but the main reason he struggled yesterday or recently is his teammates that allow opp team to defend him too comfortably.
if you never help him of offense and he’s doing everything on offense just imagine the absurd energy expenditure…
Man you’re so smart…
ok you win! I’ll admit it. I registered on ST in 2009 when I meat a 6yo Victor with a Spurs jersey. I thought if all goes well…![]()
sorry but he was uninspired on defense and not motivated. Sure his team is bad but if he is the superstar, he is supposed to bring it every night and he didn’t. I like Wemby but I’m not going to defend him when he plays like .
I quoted you because your comment was so ridiculous I had to laugh. Sorry you’re so sensitive. But your takes have never indicated any understanding of basketball. Maybe that’s why you think I’m focused on individuals? Because I’ve laughed at your numerous stupid statements on basketball?
No doubt. Body language sucked since the start. Thought he might get better, diesel mode, but got even worse.
my point is the big picture matters. It’s too simplistic to just point it as the reason for his outing without taking into account how his teammates behave and make life difficult for him.
let be honest here guys, simple basic empathy, how many of us would have stayed cool as long as Victor has with what he has to deal with??
it’s already out of his world to have this type of patience when you’re a compe or. I wouldn’t be surprised that even if he makes a conscious effort to hide it, Victor is getting tired of his low IQ low passing abilities teammates who since a few games even make his life harder bc allow double teams on him…
Guys just immagine Timmy with this roster...
He was already putting pressure on PATFO as a rookie but Victor should just stfu
lmao maybe that's why he was a career 33% chucker
no way we can have another year of this .Tension will explode no doubt.Half these players should be gone this offseason.
You are correct. Except, you left out “badly coached.” But a simple post can’t say everything, of course. A longer post could add “untalented” as well. Not that I’m saying anything you don’t know.
The “badly coached” is the worst part because it extends to Wemby, too. The way the Spurs have misused him this season is a travesty and a tragedy.
There are posters in this thread who think Wemby’s a problem. Buncha morons.
Look at the first Denver possession in this game. Jokic tested Wemby inside, going 1v1 against him at the basket. No luck. Wemby got one of his patented stocks, blocked Jokic and stole the ball in midair. Wemby beat Jokic like he was nobody. Wemby handled the league’s leading MVP candidate like Jokic was no better than Drew Eubanks.
And there are people in this thread who think Wemby’s a problem. Buncha morons.
Sure, Wemby needs good coaching, as does the rest of the team. They are not getting it. Obviously. The team won’t get good coaching next season either, unless a change of coaching personnel happens.
Wemby has been looking uninspired recently, unmotivated, almost uninterested. Not surprising. He’s probably looking towards the end of the season, and the end to the tedium of having to slog through hip-deep crap in every game.
The main thing the Spurs have shown Wemby this season is that no matter what he does, the team is a loser. He has even had historical, record-setting performances - and the team is a loser. That is not helpful for morale. It does not lead to extra effort. It leads to looking at the situation with a sigh, and going through the motions. Or only fooling around, because it doesn’t matter.
Wemby will play on a good team this summer. He’ll be surrounded by good players, and the French team will have good coaching. He will notice the difference. Nobody could miss it.
The Spurs had damn well better do something serious this offseason to improve the team. Another season like this one, and questions may start to be heard about the franchise itself.
they have trouble with dealing with the constant double teaming on wemby in the paint. it is not a matter of not wanting to pass.
It’s a cliche but last night’s performance will be a learning experience, especially for Wemby. Wemby is smart, very mature for his age, highly skilled. But as dominant as he is, he has a ton to learn in the NBA. His game was not as bad, attempted 12 shots as opposed to 25, 9 from downtown when I called him out. He is trying to do too many things, hence the turnovers, albeit Pop is letting him learn from experience, and makes the proper adjustments, baptism by fire. I have no doubt he will. It was against the reigning champion. But they need to continue playing the game whoever the compe ion, moving the ball. And yes, Wemby needs to find himself in that motion offense and continue to trust his teammates, and of course vice versa. Ultimately, Wemby will be NBA strong, enough to backdown defenders, and start dumping the ball to him at the post. Till then, it helps him to move the ball and create mismatches and open shots. It’s cliche, but it is what it is…. Moving on.
I agree, it doesn’t help and they often fear the TO too much
But those are rare situations and my issue with them is their lack of intent more than the raw numbers.
Look at their body language, they very rarely even look at him and it’s mind boggling considering how Victor had shown a willingness to pass the whole season.
Victor tries at least, sometimes leads to TOs but at least he’s trying. He’s showing his intentions to his teammates.
It rarely happens the other way around and it’s really mind boggling to the point of imagining any possible reasons. Lack of talent can’t be the only possibility after 60 games.
Not a fan of conspiracy theories but one could questions this whole spectacle.
If we notice it don’t you think Victor is as well questioning his teammates REAL intentions? I would
Yes your majesty.
The spurs are bad. But wemby has areas to improve. The roster is horribly built. We all know it. To say wemby is blameless and the rest of the roster is completely useless is somehow the right and only right at to view the situation is most definitely juvenile and showed zero understanding of anything basketball. The spurs are asking players would should be #4 or 5 on a decent team to be a #2. And all the later spots are pushed up to roles they shouldn’t be performing at. The spurs need two good players to fill those roles and the other players will fall in place. It a wholesale where we sell players Pennies on the quarter.
You.
Wemby looked bad yesterday… why is this controversial? LOL
Wemby’s definitely hitting the vaunted Rookie wall. It happens to the best of them. But it’s being exacerbated by the fact that his teammates suck and give him little to no help most nights. Not feeding him when he’s wide open, refusing to give him easy lobs, their inability to shoot the 3-ball resulting in teams just sagging off and crowding Wemby, etc. Obviously we need better shooting around him, but a true play-making PG who could really set the table is what would really work wonders for this team. And that goes for everyone, not just Wemby.
I don't understand how people can think we can go to being such a bad team that we got the number 1 pick last year to think we can turn it around in be a playoff caliber the following year. People just need to understand that this team is just not good hence why are record sucked last year, this year, and probably next year.
Looking at this team anyone with any sense knows that in three years probably only two or three of the current roster will still be here. We are not the Flakers we are not suddenly going to be a free agency destination so that leaves us with the draft. But that is going to take some time which is fine because Wemby, still has things he can improve upon and YES we will probably look at adding some Veteran help going forward. People should just enjoy the process and stop it with this instant gratification
I don’t remember Tim putting pressure in his rookie season.
