It's going to be Mark Kelly, 100%. He's from NASA and he can talk a big intellectual game, unlike Joe or Kamala. He will have a comprehensive climate change and gun reform plan that will appeal very much to everyone left of center and even some intellectual moderates. He's by far the most electable, especially since Shapiro doesn't want it.
Also Katie Hobbs can easily appoint someone like Will Hunting 's pet cat Greg Stanton to be the interim Senator until the special election in 2026 and AZ Dems / Senate Dems won't miss a beat.

Trump broke the norm that there are qualifications for any political office. As a practical matter, there is no such thing as pertinent job experience if voters don't care.
I already told why I think Buttigieg got tapped, I don't think people necessarily get appointed to anything because they have relevant qualifications or experience. Nor do I think that should always be required. Do you?

Kelly is NOT overrated. He way overperformed Biden, vs. an in bent McSally in 2020, and then outperformed Hobbs by a comfortable margin again in 2022. He's the opposite of overrated. He is an electoral juggernaut.
However, Kelly being at the top of the ticket would be much more beneficial for Dems electoral chances up and down the ballots than Harris, but c'est la vie.
Shapiro isn't giving up his governorship of a keystone bellwether state less than 2 years in to his first term.

Unfortunately for Democrats, those two aren't running at the top of each ticket. If they did, the Democrats would be strong favorites to win the White House this year.
I think the Dems should find a way to kick Kamala to the curb and run Kelly for President and someone actually competent for VP, preferably female but competency first no DEI picks. Mark Kelly would defeat either Trump or Vance for President. Kamala is essentially Dollar Tree Hilldawg.
The whiny radical left types that might get upset at kicking out Kamala honestly can get over it. The most important thing for that coalition should be voting against Trump and kicking the MAGA ideology out of the country.
