And what's even Champagnie's trade value? Noone is giving up a FRP for him and at that point it's irrelevant because Spurs have way too many SRPs.

Exactly, that's the whole point. But not the Spurs. They are not gonna spend to max within next two seasons, so they won't benefit as much and could fetch another 1st in early 2030s

i think he can get there, but he will grow into the role.

i think the ideal path is more and more of his minutes to come at Tre's expense. when vassell returns, and if we stick to a 9 man rotation (meaning at least one of the starters is still on the floor), a typical bench unit could look something like:

Castle - Champagnie - Keldon - Barnes/Sochan - Collins

or

Castle - Vassell - Champagnie - Keldon - Collins

either of those lineups would allow him to play alongside an adequate amount of shooters to give him passing options. and if he thrives in that role and continues to show he is worthy of more playing time as we approach the deadline, it could be a situation where paul is moved.

there has been speculation that paul's deal was at a pretty specific salary which would make him a trade candidate to a contender. he makes enough where a contender can send over an MLE type player for him, and also not too high where he becomes ineligible to be signed by teams above the apron in the event he is bought out.

I think, if we are in the playin hunt, CP3 will stay, but I did a bit of research after your post and confirmed his family didn't even join him here, so it's really wide open for him as you said.

I'm still iffy on the concept of Pop only playing 9 guys until late in the season, though. I think Wesley and Branham will get a lot of run, unfortunately sometimes at Castle's expense. I hope not, though, and you're right. I'd say your rotation prediction will be spot on if Pop doesn't have a super-boner for overplaying Wesley and especially Branham.

They also took this dude from Sacto and immediately waive him, all those moves had future picks attached to it. They picked up option so on Branham and Wesley. Those moves were about using cap space to gain future assets, not to built winning team right now.

Champagne is good player, with great deal, but that deal wont matter when Spurs will be good again, and with all that in mind, another future asset would be more useful in the long run, than 3 mil starter on lottery team.
