I'm not hoping for anything - I realize that there are a lot of different ways to build a championship team. You're the only one who thinks there is only one way (a way that kept your favorite team, the Blazers, in the basement). Good luck with that.
We got Wemby and we literally can't tank unless he suffers a serious injury.
At the end of last season we sat our 2nd, 3rd and 4th best player, it didn't matter.

We'll probably get close to doubling our wins from last season and we added just two veterans as complementary pieces.
And as I wrote many times, just look at other top teams and their rosters. Thunder have one top10 pick who's an important rotation member.
Grizzlies got two and somehow they keep winning with G-leaguers even when their entire roster is injured.
Mavs managed to build a contender around Luka with very little after they wasted most of their good assets.
Nuggets won a ring with one top10 pick and managed to pick the best player in the league in second round.
Same goes for the Bucks. Second best player in the league was 15th pick and their second option during that championship run was a second round pick.

We got Champagnie who was discarded not that long ago and basically out of the league playing better than most lottery picks. And our core pieces were #1, #4, #9 and #11 picks. We don't deserve any more lottery luck.
And yet we'll be able to move into top10 with ease this year with our two picks that will probably be in #11-18 range or so.

And yet people still want to tank as if we haven't seen enough examples of teams tanking for too long and never being able to recover from it.

With that being said, I also think we must make one big move this summer, if not two.

So people in here really do think this core is a le contender in the next two years as is.
By no means am I implying that this roster is complete, far from it. But if you don't see the potential of this Wemby-Vassell-Sochan-Castle core, I can do nothing for you.
Rockets have lots of very good players but they have no one even close to Wemby. Even in OKC I don't believe SGA has Wemby's potential.

As I said, « If we're not too stupid », as in, on the condition that we make the right moves (as we did this season with Castle, CP3 & Barnes) I can absolutely see us finishing top 6 next season.

You forgot that in addition to all of that... we also have seen with our very own eyes this team get a Top 3 player from the #15 pick. That doesn't mean we're going to repeat that, but idiots like rascal who think the only way forward is by tanking are comical. He needs to go spend more time at BlazerTalk.com

Tanking is what made the Spurs land Wemby. Blazers didn't have the luck to land Wemby, had they instead of Scoot they would be better than the Spurs are now.

We got Wemby because we were horrible enough to tank.
We got Timmy because Admiral went down, Sean also got injured and it was a perfect opportunity to take advantage of.

I don't know how to reply anymore without being rude. How ing hard is it to understand that Wemby is a top10 player already and that he wants to be on GOAT trajectory. What the do you even want to do? Tell Wemby to sit down when we already have no chance to get top3 odds so we can roll the 5% or whatever dice yet again?

What they don't yet have on the court, Spurs have in the form of a gazillion draft picks more than the Blazers do in the coming decade. Most of them will be trade assets.

Spurs tanked both times to get Wemby and to get Duncan. They were sitting players to get losses to land Wemby. Without tanking there are no les in San Antonio.

Holy are you even a real human? What the is your point?
Would it be better to have another top3 picks than a 15th pick? Obviously.
Can we do it with healthy Wemby? Obviously not.

We got a player who's going to be the best player in the league maybe as soon as 2026, we don't need to tank anymore.
A competent front office would easily figure it out with all the picks we own. End of story.
Stop repeating scenarios that literally cannot happen for us, what's the point of that?

Rascal is clinically depressed. He's been doing this here for two decades.

Joker is gonna be a 4X MVP and somehow be underrated as a player. I’ve never seen anything like him before. His greatness is insane and we are lucky Denver is a cheap POS team otherwise they’d have a dynasty.

Is the all star game going to be positionless too? I haven’t paid attention to the format tbh. Last year I just voted for Wemby and didn’t even look at the format. Something I do feel bad about is that for some reason SA doesn’t vote for all-stars. It’s embarrassing tbh. They are like the 9th biggest city in the US and somehow Memphis and Indy votes more than SA. Never mind OKC. We are going to need a France to step up and vote for him to have a shot at being a starter

Top eight picks are typically now very young and it's sort of a roll of the dice because they have barely even played basketball much. Drafting 10 through 15, I'm not going to say you're getting better talent, but it does afford less of a pressure to have to pick these roll of the dice players, and instead you can draft quality role players.

I still would like to have an obvious second star type player next to Victor, but we still need to load up on quality complimentary pieces, and we can still do that in the draft, and honestly we can't afford too many stars now with the new rules anyway.
