What did Shaq say?

He makes a good point, though. It would be nice to have a "Best perimeter defender" and best "Rim Protector" awards, to differentiate the two types of defenders.
It's a meme channel, but even his unserious analysis shows how much of an impact Victor makes with not just numbers and why that game wasn't "meh".
So much space generated even in actions without him touching the ball.
That's what All Defense team is for.
Awards are what they are. MVP is really just the best or near best scorer. Wemby will miss out on a few because they don’t consider a fully rounded out game, mostly just scoring.
It's absolutely the real jersey, photo matched and authenticated. The auction house (Goldin) who has the listing is the premier auction house in the collectables world (they even have a Netflix show, The King of Collectables).
The parents of this kid are taking a lot of heat (as they should), but Goldin also deserves criticism. They use high pressure tactics to get people to list stuff. For example, as soon as Ohtani's 50/50 home run ball landed, they were already on the pursuit to obtain it to get it listed (and there ended up being quite a legal battle around the ownership of that ball, unrelated to Goldin). No doubt in my mind, Ken Goldin had his goons hounding these parents to list the jersey as soon as this otherwise heartwarming story hit social media.
The other thay I saw an interesting video of Guardiola basically telling some fans to off with their memorabilia they wanted signed because he knew they're not genuine, but just want to profit off his signatures.
It's just sad how people have to ruin everything.
Also, that could've been a make a wish kid and their way of profiting while collecting cheap political points.
Hopefully Wemby can get the kid another jersey that won't be taken away.
Wemby has been very generous with signing memorabilia (in fact, in the collectors world... there is some angst that he is a little too happy to lend his signature, more on that later) with fans, I wonder if instances like this will make him reconsider of he doesn't care. Maybe he's happy that this kid and his family will have a nice payday? Who knows.
In regards to Wemby signatures - he has an exclusive signature deal with Fanatics (who owns Topps and runs the official NBA shop, among other things) and Fanatics is definitely taking advantage of this. You can go on the fan shop right now and have your pick of signed Wemby memorabilia. My wife got me a signed Wemby ball for XMas (which was an awesome surprise) and she's not even in tune with this stuff, it's just that easy to get. Topps (and affiliated brands) have been cranking out Wemby signed cards this year at a pace that is kind of shocking. Topps doesn't have a license to NBA logos on trading cards (Panini has that license until 2026) so there are no official Wemby autographed cards in a Spurs jersey - just thousands of unlicensed Wemby auto rookie cards. Not that anyone should give two s about Sports Cards collectors (and I say that as one of them), but that community is kind of miffed at this license situation and the fact that Wemby is just cranking them out making them not really all that rare (Wemby more than likely gets paid on a per signature basis).
thats not entirely true. Steve Nash won back to back without even sniffing top 5 scorer.
While complimenting a big (Jokic iircc) he couldn't help but say "I hate 7'5 bigs shooting 3s" and kept going with his narrative.
It's quite funny considering a cple months ago, I recall hearing him say in his podcast that he's jealous of bigs that can shoot the 3, saying something like "imagine if I could shoot the 3 where I would be in goat discussion" etc
Shaq must have been such a bully in high school...![]()
Honestly heard more compliment by former greats that critics.
A lot were defiant at 1st, which is a natural/healthy reaction when talking about a potential goat player at such a young age and stage of his career, but many have since became "believers".
yep. i mean sucks for him, but naturally rim protectors are at a premium and are generally more impactful defensively. it takes truly special perimeter defenders to break through, which has actually been more feasible in the last 10 years or so, with kawhi winning twice, draymond once, marcus smart. giannis and jaren jackson have both won and they're not traditional shot blocking centers or whatever. yes jackson led the league in blocks that year (especially in home games) but he's a very versatile defender which was a big reason for him winning as well
was actually even more slanted towards bigs in the previous eras. before kawhi, in the 23 years before that, the only non-big DPOYs were Artest and Payton, once apiece
and im sorry, but a good a defender as j-dub is, he's not warping offensive gameplans and possessions the way somebody like wemby is, even if you werent just going "hur dur blocks", you could just see how offenses are forced to abandon gameplans. its not comparable
A lot of people scoffed those, and considered them illegitimate. They could be considered an aberration like the intrusion of Payton and Artest into the DPOY award big man string.
Not really.
I mjust trying to say that MVP isnt a scroring award
That's so chicken for that bag who could afford courtside tickets in NYC to use his kid to make money off Wemby's generosity.
Some folks can’t shake the green from their eyes. There’s never enough.
I expect wemby to be out of top 5 in the MVP Race
Wow for a dunk that didn't count, Ja's dunk is all over Twitter and Youtube smh
Wemby is such an idiot tbh
i did see this which was pretty funny

The only justifiable explanation at this point would be that they were gifted the tickets as some Make-A-Wish thing and they are selling the jersey to pay for medical expenses or some ...
But I'm fully expecting the truth to be more like they are front row season ticket holders and this kid's dad makes him wear the opposing star's jersey every game to try to pull off this grift![]()
If the team keeps having horrible defensive games, his DPOY is in Jeopardy tbh
If Spurs stay around 50% it's his, but if we go too below (which is the trend today)...
Goosebumps! Thanks, Ace!
Hope they get a win at least!
